The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
Gebreegziabher Fana Kinfe (Ethiopia)

Below are some learning points I found to be important for daily application:

The Emotional bank account is the idea that will help me in a practical way. Our most constant relationships, like marriage, require our most constant deposits. With continuing expectations because old deposits evaporate.

Really seeking to understand another person is probably one of the most important deposits you can make, and it is the key to every other deposit. Keeping a commitment or a promise is a major deposit; breaking one is a major withdrawal is the idea that will help me in my daily personal life. In fact, there’s probably not a more massive withdrawal than to make a promise that’s important to someone and then not to come through. The next time a promise is made, they won’t believe it. People tend to build their hopes around promises, particularly promises about their basic livelihood. This statement reminds me of a saying in my country Ethiopia that means people prefer that the child they gave birth to lost than the promise they made is lost; it shows the value they give to a promise.

“Inside-Out” means to start first with self; even more fundamentally, to start with the most inside part of self, with your paradigms, your character, and your motives. It says if you want to have a happy marriage, be the kind of person who generates positive energy and sidesteps negative energy rather than empowering it. If you want to have a more pleasant, cooperative teenager, be a more understanding, empathic, consistent, loving parent. If you want to have more freedom, more latitude in your job, be a more responsible, a more helpful, a more contributing employee. If you want to be trusted, be trustworthy. If you want the secondary greatness of recognized talent, focus first on primary greatness of character.

There are so many interesting statements included in the book. Some of them among the many are written as follows:

“There is no real excellence in this entire world which can be separated from right living.” David Starr Jordan
This statement of David Starr Jordan has got my attention in that we began to realize that if we wanted to change the situation, we first had to change ourselves. And to change ourselves effectively, we first had to change our perceptions.

“The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.” Albert Einstein
This statement by Albert Einstein got my attention because the problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them because they don’t have the capacity, knowledge or skill to solve them.

“Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.” Goeth
This statement explains we should have to prioritize things which matter most and it clearly shows the way of finding out things that matters most.

Why IIGL?
Eusebius Tobechukwu Okorie (Nigeria)
Eusebiustobechukwu@gmail.com

I had an amazing time as an IIGL student. Reflecting on my experience, IIGL is a life-coaching institute! My IIGL studies have reinforced my belief in personal success and leadership with the help of the principles and tools I was exposed to as a student. I enjoyed my days as an IIGL student because of the numerous lessons I have garnered, some of which included:
Thinking on paper for clarity
Continuous goal setting and goal setting principles
Living a life of gratitude and optimism
Self knowledge and that I appreciate mentoring and counseling people

I partner with a multi-national company in China where I practice of the of Leadership principles learned in IIGL. I now see Leadership from a different perspective; predicated on first self-leadership.

Make A Difference
Dream Team 22
Please join Dream Team 22 as our goal is to have 22 people contributing $22 per month. We understand that money is energy and that to sustain and build IIGL we need a lot of people pouring their energy into this endeavor on a regular basis. We also know that not everyone can afford to commit $22 a month – especially our students, who live in countries with economies in which this amount can be equal to a weeks’ salary. So we are offering two options for those who wish to become a part of the Dream Team. One can commit to a $22 a month contribution or to spending 22 seconds each day holding the vision of IIGL becoming financially sustainable by the end of 2023!

Please join the Dream Team and help us create an energetic foundation to support the transformational work of IIGL! You can really make a difference in the world by making a modest contribution of time or money. To make the $22 a month commitment or a one time donation, click the link below. To become a member of the Dream Team 22 by committing 22 second a day to help us hold the vision, contact Deb for details: drosen2@wi.rr.com
