Ugbekile Chuks Friday – Assessments

As A Man Thinketh
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea the author is trying to convey here is about THE POWER OF THOUGHT. Here the making us understand that thought is a very vital thing in our daily growth in life, that with thought we can be what we want to be in life, and achieve anything we want to achieve in life. Although thought is very powerful, it can also have its effect in our day to day activities in life, either negatively or positively. Thought can also influence our standard of living either health wise and also influence the structure of our body physically, mentally and otherwise.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

Thoughts: here man has the ability to think and behave according to his thought. From these we are also made to understand that we are supernatural being, that any way or how we position our minds either negatively or positively, the end result is always what our mind is been tuned to. We have the ability to dream dreams and also have the same ability to make those dreams come thru. In the actual sense if we dream or position our minds that we will achieve great things on earth. We will achieve all this if we always work towards our dreams and goals. If we say we will definitely fail in life, we will fail. In contract the mind and thought of a man is the engine room to his existence. My personal experience on this is that when I was a kid my parent wanted me to be a mining engineer but my thought of it was that I wanted to be either an architect or a civil engineer, to God be thy glory I walked towards becoming a civil engineer.

Circumstances: About the effect of thought and circumstances, we all have our minds to deal with and it’s only what our minds or what we have in it that will help us achieve whatever we want to achieve. Our mind is full of a lot of thought of circumstances both positive and negative but it’s only inside of us that we can shuffle it and make it come to reality. When we do things write we have that effect from our mind. Our mind is like a farm land where we plant crop and is been affected by weeds but been a good farmer, he tend to weed the weeds and then cultivate the crops for proper processing. A typical life example is when I was in collage I had the privilege to smoke because most of my friends do that till date but been that I know that it’s a bad habit and I know the circumstances involve I didn’t involve myself in that act.

Health and body: thought from our mind has a long role to play on our health and body because our human body is the servant of the mind either deliberately or indelibrately. When we have thoughts that are harmful to our minds at the end of the day such thought become very harmful to our body and health. A very wonderful thought in our mind helps the body to be well built. A good thought to the heart makes the body look healthy, if we are to protect our body at all times we must always guild our minds at all time with good and positive thoughts. My personal experience is that there was a time I was having some difficulty with one of my client in getting a job done, because I was trying to put so many things together, I became worried and no having result, if u see at that time that situation was really telling on me health wise, I became so slime and almost had my body system broken down. But after the end result which was positive I regained my strength again.

Purpose: A purposeful state of mind is always a rewarding state if life. In life we are meant to be purposeful. Intelligent thought conceived leads to a purposeful life. As a physically weak man can make himself strong by careful and patient training, so the man of weak thoughts can make his thought strong by exercising himself in right thinking. In life if we don’t have a particular purpose, we fall an easy prey to little circumstances that will face in life. A typical life experience of a friend of mine, when we were kids, he set a purpose for himself that when he grows up he would like to be a software programmer, and during his course of growing up, he turned himself to that purpose that he had in mind. He went thru the four walls of academics and
finally graduated from the Nigeria Institute of Information Technology. Today he is a software engineer. For me I had a purpose in life that I was nursing when I was a kid that I want to get married before I become 30 years of age, I eventually got married at the age of 28.

Achievement: God almighty created us humans to be achievers on earth that is one of our primary objectives. To achieve good things in life, we need our thoughts in mind to achieve it. For instance if we as humans have bad thought about the world generally, definitely we will have a bad world to live in. Same goes to our daily living. If one has it in mind that he or she will not achieve great things in life, he or she won’t achieve it. When I was in the higher institution I had it in mind that I will only work in two different construction company before I achieve my own business. Because I have it in mind and I want to really achieve great things in life, today am able to establish my own business and achieve multiple streams of income to earn a living to take good care of my family. This is one of my personal achievements. Because I have it in mind that I was going to do it that way, I set my mind towards that goal and was able to achieve it.

Vision and Ideas: A life where there is no vision and ideas is a life that is not worth living for. Dreamers are the saviours of our present world. If there are no dreamers like the Lander brothers and other inventors, I wonder what the world will be or look like. Maybe we will still be walking naked, still find it difficult to turn the world into a global village, there will be no source of electricity, etc. But thru vision and ideas, they were able to turn the world to what it is presently. Vision and ideas make our daily life t forge ahead and have shape. Visions and ideas come from God almighty. If we cannot visualise and plan our lives we cannot make it in life. My personal experience is that I visualise my life in a way that I will have multiple streams of income, today I have it, visions and ideas are like goals in our daily planning of life. One of my personal vision is to retire at the age of forty with a lot of achievement. Other personal experiences are I visualised that I am to get married before am thirty years old, today I got married before thirty and am blessed with two kids. In all, the greatest vision and ideas of life is to first dream about it before it is been a reality.

Serenity: serenity is one of the ideas, first of all serenity is a state or quality of been serene, i.e. calmness. When our life is calm, we tend to relate or commune properly with our creator and man. When we are calm we have self control of situation and our self. Been calm or serene in everything we do make people to properly relate with us in our day to day activity and business and the later is success. In all of our challenges in life, if one is always calm, we will surely overcome. I started my own business, the first six month was not friendly at all, I crashed in one of my deal, and after that standard of living was no encouraging I almost lost it all, but because of calmness and persistence and faith in God, I bounced back. Today am better off than how I was before.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

All these will help me in a practical way to create a better world in a way that with all these purpose of thought i.e. Thoughts, Circumstances, Health and body, Purpose, Achievement, Vision and ideas and Serenity, will be put into practical test in my daily life. All these we practise consciously and unconsciously, we put to play to achieve a better life for me.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

Circumstances do not make a man, but it reveals him to himself.

This quote is important to me because in life no matter what u face in life it doesn’t give the guaranty that you will be rich or make it in life, it only inspires us to work harder in order for us to make it in life.

Good thought and action can never produce bad result, but bad thought and action can never give good result.

This is also important to me because in the practical sense good thought and thinking gives us good result in life while the other way round bad thought will not give good result but negative result which is not healthy to the body.

He who conquers doubt and fear has conquered failure.

This is important because in everything we do in life, we should be afraid to take risk. If you don’t take risk, we will never conquer.

Jonathan Livingstone Seagull
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The idea of the author is been demonstrated by Jonathan Livingston Seagull that we should not LIMIT OUR POTENTIAL. That in all things we do in life as a whole, we can do better from the initial situation we find ourselves. Jonathan seagull was a bird but unlike others of his type, instead of behaving like his type where they fly and sit at the seashore and feed from there, go home and sleep but he saw beyond the initial purpose of all seagull. He believes in discovering new ideas, he saw beyond his potential that if he learns to fly, he will find greater things out of flying. He set for it and practices his flying techniques and eventually got to learn a lot about flying to overcome his limitation in life generally.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

No matter what we do in life at the first instance we might fail but during our failure we should gather more strength from that failure and try again no matter what it takes us to try again—In these book, Jonathan Livingstone seagull tried to fly at a great height more than any other seagull and lost his wings but instead of giving up, he still tried until he achieve that height he wanted at that particular instance. If it where others at that first try you just gives up and says it’s over. In the practical sense of life we shouldn’t give up and say it’s over no matter what limitation we face in life, we should always strive to move ahead at all times and get to the peak of what we desire in our heart. A practical life experience is when I left my place of work in the year 2007, I was trying to make it in life but things where very difficult it wasn’t really helping matters, and that period I just got married and challenges of life was very bad. I was getting advice here and there that too good for me while some where positive but I still persist. My believe is that it is just helping me to build my faith and at the end of it all I got my breakthrough and out of that limitation of been nothing. In a nutshell, in all we do we shouldn’t limit our potential we should always try to put our best in all we do at all times.

When we attain a certain level in life we shouldn’t stop there—In these idea, attaining certain height in life doesn’t mean we have arrived, it means at that certain level we should work harder to move forward in life. At that level we should try to get above that present level of life. A level which we have never gotten to before in life, a level where nothing can ever stop us, a level or height where we will be as free as a bird, a level where flying or achievement will be done with ease, a level where less effort will be applied to achieve great rewards. We all know that starting to learn a thing from the very beginning is always difficult, but when you get to a level of perfection in that event it becomes easier and interesting to do, when you get deeper in that event, it tend to be much easier and enjoyable. My life experience is when I started getting into my entrepreneurship activity, at the initial stage; it was very difficult because I was just getting to know the business. It’s always difficult at the beginning of business, but mid way into it, it started becoming interesting. I was moving up at a very steady ride where it was quite comfortable but yet still learning more about the business.

Decision making—Anything we do in life either good or bad, we should always make up our mind in doing it i.e. we should always decide in doing it. Just as Jonathan Livingstone Seagull did, at the earlier stage of his life he decided to find out what flying was all about and get the best out of flying because he never wanted to be like other of his colleague, so he set out to learn the techniques of flying from the initial stage to the later stage. During the process of learning, he found out in his wildest imagination that flying is interesting and easy and he learns different techniques anytime he sets out to fly. He later got to a stage where he flies at ease and became perfect in it but never stop there. In all he never relented in what he wanted in life. He got the best out of flying and he got it all. My life experience about decision making is that in everything I do I life from my youth to my present time I took responsibilities and decision over everything I did. My educational background, my marital obligations, my professional career and everything concerning me and my family and all this decision pays off.

There is no limit to what we do in life till death do us path. —In everything we do we have to understand that there is no limit to our achievement on earth. No matter where so every we find ourselves doing anything we shouldn’t limit ourselves to that thing alone or limit ourselves to just end it where we stop, but we should try and take beyond that reach. We should take it higher than that. We should know that we have potentials beyond our imagination in our mind so we cannot limit our thought. Our human potential and mind have all it takes to position us in the best of life we can dream of in our chosen career so we shouldn’t limit our might at all. In my life experience my business and career, no matter what the ups and down i face struggling and striving to succeed in life and make ends meet wasn’t that easy, i was going through a lot but I didn’t limit myself because i know my potential and the God i serve that he is a God of no limit so i didn’t restrain myself to just my achievements alone. Just as Jonathan Seagull he didn’t limit himself in achieving flight and he achieved it at the end.

If we can dream it we can achieve it. — In these idea if we can dream of achieving anything on earth, we can achieve it. Just like Jonathan Livingstone Seagull dreamt it that one day in his life he is going to fly beyond what a normal seagull can fly, and learn all the techniques of flying and then come back one day and make is fellow seagull understand how interesting flying is and he eventually achieved it. At first, he dreamt it and started following or learning the basic principle of flying and ended up achieving it. My life experience on these is that i first of all dreamt that i day i will own a business of mine and eventually after schooling it came to past. Today i have my own business that some families do benefit from.

When everybody counted him out, he counted himself in. — Jonathan Seagull after defying flight as a seagull above every other seagull, he was labelled an outcast, rejected by everybody, even his parents as well. But he never relented from it despite all those rejection; he never gave up on himself. He defiled those boundaries and set out on his goals. At the later end he came back victorious, accomplished and fulfilled. Life experience is that no matter what you are facing in life even when the world rejects you, you should always pick up and set yourself at the right tune and set out for your goals and succeed in it.

No matter what you achieve in life, you should always give back to the society that made you. — After achieving all those flight training and success, he still came back to his root and thought those who are ready to learn about flight. Thought them all they need to learn and acquire about flying. In all, anything we achieve in life we must be ready to give back to the needy in our community and give back to the environment we get from. We should always be ready to help at all times no matter what condition or situation we find ourselves.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

These ideas or lessons will help me in a practical way both in my daily life and to create a better world because life generally is all about our potentials and how to think and move above our limits in life. Ideally my life experience wove around all the experiment of Jonathan seagull, about his learning to fly and trying to know what is behind flying. Also trying to know what life is all about. Trying to put his potential into test and bringing out the best in him. I guess all these have been observing in my life generally. Helping me to move a step ahead in my life, in every stage of growth in life that i have attain. With all these idea, am using it to effect changes in my life. With theses changes in life, it will also help in sharpening my world properly. To make my world a better tomorrow.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you

Heaven is not a place and it is not a time. Heaven is been perfect. : – In these quote it simply says that heaven is not just any where we think we can get to or any place we can get to at any time but for us to get to heaven we must remain diligent in everything we do, we must always be faithful to ourselves and our course of duty, we must always put things right at all times. That we must always put into consideration our basic principle of been on earth and living. The gulls who scorn perfection for the sake of travel go nowhere, slowly. Those who put aside travel for the sake of perfection go anywhere. : – here why its important to me is that in life if you put yourself in a high position thinking that you have everything and believe you will achieve all because you have all it takes to get the result you will definitely fail. All you have to do first is to have that thing in mind, believe it, and start from the basic of that thing, to learn it from the scratch and invest what you have to invest there, surely you will get result.

Keys To Success
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea of the author in this book keys to success by Napoleon hills is that great ideas with goals are one of the greatest weapons of achieving success in life, after these you add focus and faith and also working cohesively towards these we will attain the greatest height of success. Just like the reference we have in this book. Andrew Carnegie the founder of a steel corporation in America that later help form the U.S. STEEL INDUSTRY, he had these idea as a teenager and worked towards his idea. At first he learnt the basics of having a steel industry by working as a labourer and because of his burning desire and the right minds to work with, he was able to breakthrough in that sector. Other references are people like Henry ford Thomas Edison, Woodrow Wilson and others. All what they have in common is their burning desire to make big in life and they had the right minds to work with to achieve their aims. In a nutshell, we need to have it in our mind that success don’t come easily but with dedication, faith, inner desire, drive and set goals, and also the right minds to work with we can achieve and attain any height we want to get to in our chosen profession.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

-Having a purposeful mind: the idea of purpose is one of the ideas have observed in this book. In life we must have a set purpose in our heart before we set out a particular goal or target in life. Like we usually say for you to have a purpose in life we must have thought of it in our conscious mind and register it in our subconscious mind and then driving that purpose in there and working towards achieving it in reality. Once we have a purpose in live we also wait and strategise for opportunities in other for us to manifest in that purpose of ours. Having purpose in life make us have a 100% of succeeding in our field of practice or profession. My personal experience on these is that i structured my life right from my teenage age that at a particular time in life i must have pass through the for wall of academics and also be in a particular field doing what i want to like doing well, and at that particular time i achieved it. I had a purpose and i walked towards it and i achieved it. I also have a goal that after my academics, i will work for two construction firm to gather all the experiences i needed to run my own firm, because that picture has been created in my subconscious mind, i was able to work towards it and had an opportunity to accomplish it i was able to achieve it.

Creating an interpersonal relationship: here is one of the greatest ideas one can talk on. This idea brings in a wider scope of succeeding in life. Without this relationship you cannot achieve great thing in what you are doing. Our daily activities in our place of work warrant us to have a personal interaction with our work force or with people you lead. For progress to be attain in our activities we must always lead by example. In meetings in offices, we must relate with board members and also share our ideas together in other for everyone to have a like mind towards our next achievement in our work place. Interpersonal relationship helps a lot because it helps build confidence in your workforce and help strengthening the bonds in our offices. Same goes to our family homes; we must have personal relationship with our spouse pertaining our businesses and our family in order for both parties to be able to communicate to achieve one goal in all they do. My personal experience is that in my place of work i know my workers by name and been that i have a friendly relationship with them, i can easily push them above their limit for me to meet up my target in anything i do without it causing them or myself anything. At the end its result that counts. In all we must always have a positive mental attitude to achieve greater results.

Having courage and going the extra mile: hear the major idea i understood is that in all we do in life we should always have faith in what we do and also have courage to execute it. Faith in the sense that we dream of how we want to position our life at all times, the good things of life, the kind of cars we want to drive, the kind of life style we want to live and the kind of business conglomerate we want to build. But in these if we don’t have it in our subconscious mind and work towards it and also have faith and courage in achieving all this we end up not having it. Despite all these, there are also limitations. These limitations are obstacles that will not allow us reach our full potentials such as fear, disbelieve in making it in life, discouragement after numerous failures, near success syndrome, etc. A typical example of these is Thomas Edison after numerous attempt to create the electric bulb, he never got discourage till he eventually made it. My personal experience is that i have a lot of flops during the time i was building my business, i never stopped i was discouraged by people to go look for paying office jobs, but i never lose faith in God and with courage i was able to breakthrough. Also in the other firm i worked for, i got to the position of a operation manager but i was doing more than what i was assign to do, i worked also as a project manager, site engineer, a quantity surveyor. After all this it eventually pay off because when i started my business, it was very easy for me to cope.

The power of initiatives and attitude: On this idea i see it as one of the greatest perception we need in life to grow and achieve great thing in our business and personal life. Here i observe that successful people had great initiatives pertaining what they wanted to achieve based on things they have learnt in their previous place of work or experience and they eventually applied those initiative. All this initiative coupled with great attitude made them to succeed beyond their wildest imagination. Attitude plays a great role in personal achievement or initiative. For Amy Hilliard Jones, she used her will power of initiative and attitude and made it to the greatest height of marketing in her work place. We also have other example. But my own personal experience is that the last place i worked before setting up my business, i made use of my initiatives to be able to run the company for 5 years and attain great things on what i was doing. I was able to manage our human resources very well to get good result. Until i left they were unable to get someone to fit into my shoes for a very long time.

The power of accurate thought: Accurate thought or thinking has a major role to play in our everyday life. For anyone to aspire to be successful in life he or she must have dreamt about the kind of life he or she want to live and will have thought of it in his or her conscious mind and also registered or have a clear picture of how it’s going to be and working towards achieving the thought he have in mind. Great minds always have and accurate thought and aspire to achieving those thought. In the case of Adolf Hitler, he had a very powerful thought but failed to use it constructively. His thinking was not accurate in the sense that we will come to understand but he still had the power to cause death and suffering for countless millions of innocent people. The power of accurate thinking is at all time crucial to our desire for success. Accurate thinkers have abundance of opinion in everything they do while sometime those options are worthless. I tell u that accurate thought at all time achieve great things in life. I have an accurate thought of becoming very successful in my business and life, i know i have not gotten their yet but with the way am going with it and the materials of personal and business growth, i know that very soon i will achieve my goal.

The strength of proper selection: there is a popular saying that says and i quote “show me your friends and i will tell you who you are”. These saying go a long way in this idea of strength of proper selection. In all we do in life we must have a choice of selection in our friends, the kind of workers we want to work for us, the king of business we want to run, the kind of wife or partner we want to spend the rest of our life with, the kind of food we want to eat etc. These selection works in every aspect of our life. The choice of selection we make in our endeavours helps in building every aspect of our life. Because of the kind of advice and friends i have i have to enrol at the Institute of International Global Leadership to help build my career, and potentials in leadership and also business, to also help me network with people of like minds in Nigeria and Globally.

The wisdom or strength of failing and rising again: when we fail in what we are doing in life we shouldn’t be worry. It doesn’t matter how many times we fail but what matters most is how many times we are ready to bounce back and take the bull by the horn. Thomas Edison failed so many times in his experiment and finally got the required result. When asked that he failed, he just said that he got different ways towards achieving his result. Failure is a great weapon in determining success. Without you failing in the course of moving to success, you cannot succeed. Failure brings out the best in you. When you fail doing something, you change your way of doing that thing and come out with a greater result. I failed once when i was sitting for my West African examination in 1996 but i took courage and approached it in a different way. Not because i filed my first examination and got frustrated but i summoned courage and sat for it again and the result was positive. In whatever we do we shouldn’t give up at all after numerous failures.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

These ideas will help me in my daily personal life because knowingly or unknowingly, i have been practically practicing all these ideas in my day to day activities, in my business and in my matrimonial home. But know that am been aware of the implications of all these ideas will make sure i use it effectively in planning my life and also apply them in my daily growth in life and also advice my friends and environ on what they need to do in other for us to have a better world.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

You are what you are and where you are because of the dominating thought in your mind. Procrastination in dealing with these thought only sentence you to further limitations and frustration–.

These quote caught my attention because in a summary its all talking about the power of our thought that when we have a thought in our heart that we shouldn’t just start saying that i will do it tomorrow that we should try our best possible and put it to practice or existence immediately. If we start postponing it, it is very dangerous to our success in life.

Strength and struggle go hand in hand—here this quote is all about progress in life, if you struggle in life without putting much strength and drive it’s likely we don’t get the required result so it’s always advisable that we merge this two together to get the required result.

It is one thing to cast your bread upon the waters; it’s another to pretend not to notice when it just comes back wet or saggy—here when we put our effort in doing a particular thing, we should always watch and pray so that when the required results comes we should not be caught wanting. That we should be always prepared to receive our result at all times.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

None

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

Yes the book contains some personal life assessment that is the way i see it and i completed it. Yes i found them very useful to me because they are like daily assessment of one’s life. They also give a broader perspective in ways to handle issues. Just a total summary of the entire book.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The general idea of the author on this book is a general knowledge of succeeding in life. We are meant to go through all the principle of wealth creation through the right attitude.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

-How to observe positive mental attitude in what we do: positive mental attitude is a great tool we need to acknowledge in every secret of success. One of the ideas i observe in this book is that positive mental attitude is inbuilt in every man and it building you mental ability for us to really observe it and recognise it and also know how to make use of it. We all as humans we possess positive mental attitude but we lack that will power and ability to use it. The Wright brother had that mental attitude, even when people were saying how they can’t achieve flight, they knew deep down between them that it was possible for them to achieve it and eventually got it right. Other people that possess this ability knew they have it. Like Dr Elmer Gates he knew he had it and know how to make proper use of it. He said that anytime he doesn’t have answer to any solutions, he gets into meditation and uses hi positive mental attitude where he gets into his subconscious mind and before you know it, he has gotten result to the said solutions. In my personal life experience, is that there was a particular time i wanted to pay my school fee in school, i had no money to make the payment, and things where very rough i had to go into brainstorming to get the required result in paying my school fee, i went into my subconscious mind and i got the required result.

-How to use or apply positive mental attitude in what we do: all great and successful men on earth uses positive mental attitude in acquiring wealth, riches, sound health, success in business, success in their matrimonial homes, etc. Dr S.B. Fuller applied the rule of positive mental attitude in acquiring fame and fortune that when he started to work at the age of five, and sold soap for twelve years and eventually bought the soap company that use to supply him soap. Henry J. Kaiser was a successful person and had positive mental attitude towards what he does and ended up becoming a brand name. Another successful person we will look at that applied positive mental attitude towards achieving greatness is Milo C. Jones, he had a form that he runs for some years but was not successful and one day he was struck with paralysis and when everyone thought that all hope is lost, he dig deep down into his subconscious mind and came up with an idea. Despite the fact that he was paralysed but he never used that as a yardstick not to make it in life. At the end the brand ‘Jones little pig sausage’ became a house hold name. All these he achieved through having a positive mental attitude that health wise he was down but his mind is still very active. My personal life experience is i had a positive mental attitude towards making it in life, i never give up in anything i do that is while my marriage is still growing stronger and stronger, that is while i still wake up in the morning through the grace of God and still say to myself that i will be successful in life.

– Ability to see through and respond to a problem through a positive mental attitude: On these idea i observe that all those that are successful in life saw through all their negativity and used it as a tool to get to their peak in success for instance Charlie Ward went through a lot when growing up from born into poverty to being a hoodlum in the United States, gambled with riffraff, went into a lot of dirty deals until he finally ended in a prison but despite all these, in prison he saw through his attitude and changed his life style at the end of it all he make it to the top after is release from the prison. He worked on his attitude through positive mental attitude and was able to break even. I also learnt that it often take just one big idea, followed by action to turn failure into success like in the case of a certain building manager in Chicago where he turned into fortune of a deserted real estate city into a glomming one for himself and his client. In all these we should always try and make use of every false start we usually have in life, get the best out of it and make proper use of our positive mental attitude to explore and get result out of it. My personal experience is i grew up from a very poor background, manage to go through primary, secondary and higher institution and in all i always say it in my heart that i will be very successful in life and with the right attitude that i have observe, i will make it.

-Getting motivation and inspiring others to achieving result: The idea behind these is that we as individual for us to achieve success in all we do, we must first of all motivate ourselves to get the required result. To motive oneself we need to put a lot of things in place, hope is the major thing we need to put in place which is termed the magic ingredient. After putting these in place we also consider motivating or inspiring other to get things done for us. We inspire others after we lead by example. These are things we should note to motivate others and ourselves, they are emotion of fear, love, sex, anger, hate, desire for material gain, life after death, etc. When we motivate people, we make them get things done for us. The secret of getting things done for us or by us is to the self motivating act of doing it now. Just like in the case of H. G. Wells, he was a prolific writer; he tried never to let good ideas slip away from. While an idea is fresh in his mind he quickly writes it down and eventually works on it immediately. In contrast we must always act on any idea we receive from our subconscious mind and get the required result we need. My personal experience is that in my formal place of work i know that unconsciously i make those working for me to get the required result i need in a particular thing because i usually motivate them by doing things i wanted to do myself but on the long run they don’t want to see their superior doing that thing when they are around, so before i know it they will put all their effort in it and we are done with it, and we get the necessary result.

-The essence of wealth attraction and repellent through PMA and NMA: The idea here is that in all that we do we should learn to attract wealth and success through positive mental attitude and negative mental attitude dissociate us from wealth. Like in the case of George Stefek, when he was in the hospital, he found time to think and came up with an idea. When he eventually left the hospital, he put his thought into practice and with the right positive mental attitude he was able to get the required result. He attracted wealth through it. With an idea that was existing he had a modernised input to it and because he had the right mind and the right idea towards attracting success in it he was able to succeed in it. Been that he had a negative impact in that idea and relaxed and not taking a move, he won’t be able to attract success but repel it. A personal experience is through a friend of mine, i will use him as an example. He always has that drive to always succeed and he always attracts people. That anytime he comes in contact with you and follows up no matter what he does you tends to like him and gets every business transaction you engage him with. In the process of reading this book that is when am able to detect that attraction he always have working for him.

-Enjoying what we do and getting the best out of it: This is one idea i fell in love with that no matter what circumstances we face in life, we should always enjoy what we do and put our best in it to get the desired result. We naturally like where we are that is why we must enjoy it as well. Enjoying what we do entails that even in our place of work, no matter what we are told to do from our superior or supervisor for us to really get the best out of that task we should at all times enjoy what we are told to do. Jerry Asam was a sales man because he loves what he was doing as a sales man, where people were not succeeding he ventured into it and had success there. In a nut shell, in all we do we should always derive satisfaction in it in other to get the best out of it. A personal experience is that in my job or business, i derive satisfaction in it that is while both good and bad times i always have the joy to say thank you to God almighty.

-General perspective of living, i.e. been happy, getting rid of quilt, having a good health and long life and raising our energy level: Success cannot be achieved without having all these characteristics at the end of the day i.e. been happy, getting rid of guilt, having good health and long life and raising our energy level. Vernon Wolfe believes that if we can do it, most of the time we can. He is man that walks on human kinetics and helps you build and raise you energy level. Also with positive mental attitude we can attain good health and long life. When we put that positive attitude in our health that we can go on and on, that is how it’s going to be. Health is a very vital tool in success; it is only a healthy man that can make wealth. So at all times we should always have a considerable control of our health. Abraham Lincoln once said that it has been observed that people are just happy as they make up their minds to be. For us to be happy in all we do, we must always position our mind that at all times we must be very happy. Also we should not use barriers to deprive us from been happy at all times. I can still remember since i have a sense of understanding have not been the clinic for a major ailment. Health wise am very happy.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

The book success through positive mental attitude is a true inspirational book, as am reading it to be sincere i don’t feel like leaving it alone, i feel like reading it on and on and on which i will do later. But as am reading it is just passing through me as if am one of the said examples in the book. Personally it has turned my sense of reasoning around to a productive one both in my business and my marital life, it has really impacted a lot in me, know i know what to do to get the required result i need in my business and also given me an insight in brainstorming and sitting for result.

-What the mind of man can conceive and believe- the mind of man can achieve with positive mental attitude.- these is very important to me because it gives an insight of mind building, that when we dream of and allow to remain in our subconscious mind and we work in that respect we will actually become what we have conceive.

-You are more opt to succeed when we do what comes naturally- here these quote means a lot to me because it made me understand that success in life come naturally, that we succeed easily when we do a particular thing that comes naturally to us that is when we find out in our place of work we do things and get result easily.

Psycho-Cybernetics 2000
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea of the author about this book is basically about personal growth and self imaging to achieving success in life. About personal growth is on how to build relationship in your work place or your giving profession, what to do to always redeemed you self esteem what causes stress and how to manage it, how to set goals and achieving etc.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

-Building of potentials and self image- Building of potential and self imaging is an essential tool that we need in our personal improvement. For us to be successful in life, our image needs to be put in the right shape of mind that our image and potential needs to work hand in hand in the sense that they need to portrait what we really desire in life. Successful people always visualise their image at first and position their mind in that direction and also fake that image that they have in them and start working in the direction of that portrait and eventually meet the target at the end of it all. In life we all need a better life to live after all and for us to achieve all these, we need our mind to be positioned in a way that it will be an automatic system guild to all we do and also helps us think straight. Also out mind as we all know is a too that have the power to always create changes i.e. when we are in the wrong direction of getting to success, we need to position our mind to the right direction so as to get into the direction of attaining success. There are some certain steps we need to take for us to attain success in life and these steps are very important in our day to day activities. Some of which are relaxation and turning stress into success, programming our mind or self to success, using our negative thought and turning it into success. For us to always acquire a new self image we must put this acronym into consideration at all time like is been describe by the author CRAFT: cancel, replace, affirm, focus and train. Very important to self imaging in acquire success. My personal experience is that before reading this book i never knew of craft, but somehow i have been using it all these while and reading this book just done it me that am on the right track. Thanks to the author and IIGL.

-Search of success- success is an imaginary idea of concept and believing in that imaginary idea with hope, faith and constant persistence and wheel power or drives to achieve success. Imaginary thought is very powerful tool in search of success. When we believe that we are going to succeed in life and we have a negative imagination about it, there is no way we are going to succeed. For us to search for success our imagination must first of all be addressed in out conscious mind that this is the way i need to follow to attain success and also registered in our subconscious mind for regular reminder at all time even if we are not on the right track. We need to put our mind at a regular routine of deep thought every day in order for our mind to always be at alert to think and imagine issues surrounding success. As long as our mind can envision that we can be a success story then we can. Success is not just a thing that will come to us; we must pass through a lot of mind positioning and test of hard times before we can succeed. On the road to search of success we are bound to make a lot of mistakes but one thing we should always note is that we shouldn’t use that mistake as an excuse to not been successful in life but we should admit that mistake as an indication of failure but as a step on the road to success. Road to success in not an easy task to achieve, it takes our energy, going the extra mile to achieving it. My experience to success is that i envisioned my success and also where i am today and i worked towards it. It was not an easy task, the road was very tough. I went through rough times, a lot of failures and a lot of implications in life which one way or the other might have discouraged me, but id till keep still to myself and still encourage my mind that am positioned to succeed and the result can tell on his own. Am not saying am successful but i know am on the right track to success.

-How to eliminate stress and manage it- Stress is one factor that is very important about our achievement towards having a successful life. It is so important that if not properly managed, it can cause a lot of damages to our health. In this book, the author highlighted a lot of ways that stress can come into our life and career and cause a major upset toward achieving success and these causes of stress are frustrations, anger, over working once self without proper relaxation, etc. One of the greatest ideas of eliminating stress and managing it is through proper relaxation. The author made us to know that to relax is not the usual way that most of us do it i.e. by sitting down and watching movies and engaging our self in some not so appealing activities, that relaxation is beyond that. Their various ways of relaxing which will not cause any harm to us but will always help in improving our health and makes our thinking abilities to be very active. As we all know stress is very harmful to our health, despite all these in any thing we do we must be very alert to know when to stop for a brake of relaxation and also when to continue working. For instance when you are working and feel you need a slight brake, please take it because that brake could mean a lot to our health. My personal experience on these is that, most time i turn my stress into fun in the sence that when i have a lot of work schedule to do, i work for some hours and also take one quater of that hour to do something else that will make me relax and take my attention out of that job or work am doing. That is while most times i can work for a very long hour and still come out refreshed as if i have not done anything.

-Setting of personal plans and achievement it- The idea here is basically about goal setting and achieving your goal. Setting of personal plans is an essential tool in success administration. We set personal plans and follow it amicably in other for us to attain success at its peak. When setting personal plans we must put so many things into consideration in other to set goals, we use these acronym called SMART. Specific in defining your goal, goals must be Measurable, goals must have an Action plan, goals must be Realistic and goals must be Time conscious, in setting goals and we must adhere strictly to those principles. To me i see that the most important of the SMART rule is Action plan. In action plan we must know how to right down our goals and planning towards it, we must also identify possible obstacles because when working towards your goal we must surely meet obstacles and its left for us to know those obstacles and deviate from those obstacles, we must surround our self with people who want to succeed at all times, must assign dates when we want to achieve those goals, we must focus on our skills, and also follow our plan of action, etc. Personally, i just work towards a target on my own without writing it out but after reading this book and analysing it, i will learn how to right it out and work towards it the smart way.

-Preparation of career growth- When we are talking about career growth, we are talking about the next level in our chosen career. Growth in career entails a lot of self discipline and dedication. Self discipline and dedication in the aspect of awareness: here awareness is one thing we should always note in career growth; we must be aware of the past and also aware of the present. We shouldn’t allow the past experience we’ve had before to overshadow our present thought and weigh us down in practicing growth but we should always look at it as a stepping stone towards greatness. We must also identify false beliefs, indulge in rational thinking: whenever we see our self not in the right direction of our career, we should always put yourself into rational thinking where we think about the good, bad and ugly situation in our life and make amends where necessary, we must also put yourself or programme yourself into relaxation, goal setting, stress management and progress check. Also we must be aware of the right brain for creative thinking, identifying false belief, self assessment and goal setting. All these help us build our career growth.

-Positioning our personalities to achieve success- Success as we know is defined as the achievement of an aim or purpose. Success as an acronym is Sense of direction, Understanding, Courage, Charity, and Esteem, Self confident and self acceptance. For us to position our personalities to achieve success. We need to be conversant with this success acronym and let it be a part of our everyday activities. When positioning our self we should always do it in a way that we will not hurt any body’s feelings and move to the next level of our career. We must always be courageous when we are faced with huddles of being successful in life, and also at all time we should be ready to take risk to the highest level in our career. I remember when i was growing up, i always have a mental thought that i will be successful and i made sure i keep my personality intact one way or the other and never do anything that will hurt anyone at any time.

-Positioning of our life to worth living for- for our life to worth living for we must first and foremost have that self acceptance in us and also know that our life is worth all the stress and pains we are to go through to achieve success in life. For us to have a change in life we must also accept our self the way we are, and that process we will have a change in life. We must always live life as if we are to get the best out of it at that particular time. Like a saying that says live life at its fullest. We must always be healthy, avoid stressful life and at all times be kind and sincere to anyone we meet on our way to the top of success. We must be calm and also put all the right tools on ground that will aid us into having a successful career to the top. The bottom line is just to be healthy at all times, eat good food, not too cold and not too hot food, because our health is the basic tool to our success.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

These ideas or lessons has helped me positively because in all they are mind building, self imaging ideas that need to be put in place in our daily growth to success. These ideas are basic necessity that we need to know at all times and practice at all times. These ideas will help me in creating a better tomorrow because i saw a true light of what success is all about and am going to put all ideas in practice and also impact it in people around me that are willing to learn and also use it as a medium in expounding my business and envision more business ideas.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

‘The time to worry about a decision is before you make it’. This quote is a major quote i observe in this book and is very important to me in the sense that most people when they are told to assist in doing a thing either by their college or friends, they admit to do that favour but at the long run they tend to complain. So to me is better we complain before we do that thing or not even volunteer to do that than doing it and complaining or not even finishing it.

The illiterate of the future are not those who can read and write but those that cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. Hear i understand that learning is not all about having degrees from reputable school of learning, but we should at all times be ready to learn from our environment and nature and the most of all we should be up to date with information around the world.

Be willing to make a few mistakes, to suffer little pains to get what you want. Hear is all about making mistakes and taking advantage of that mistake not to weigh us down but to use it to move forward and be successful in life.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

None

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

There are no exercises for me to complete but there are some questioner for me to answer to ascertain my level of assimilation of the ideas the author is trying to convey. And also guide me on working on some acronym that the Author has simplified for our daily consumption towards achieving success.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

Giant Steps
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea of the author is all about our self mastering, what we need to do in life daily to put our life into shape and also make it have a meaning to people around us. To also when applied in all we do can help development in our choosing career.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

–What we need do to know in how to organise or write out goals—
writing out of goals is a very essential tool that all those that want to succeed in life must take to. Goal setting is very critical in all we do in life. One of the secret of unleashing true power in us humans is setting goals that are exciting enough that they truly inspire our creativity and ignite our passion. Things we need to know when setting goals are very vital in our daily endeavour. Goal setting brings out the best in daily planning of our lives. Goal setting or planning gives us a better room or avenue to be really focused in what we really want to become in life. Goal setting is very keen in our day to day planning of life. We must be focus after setting those goals so as not to deviate from our set achievements. One of my goals in life is to become a civil engineer and i have achieved it, while my other goals are still working to achievement.

–Deciding what to do about life—
in life we have to decide what to do in life as an everyday activities. Life is so important to a lot of people that we find joy in spending our daily activities lavishly. Deciding what we want in life always put our mind set to work in some special ways such as the pains we will encounter in our dealings with people, the pleasures we are going to achieve when there is a result worthy to be celebrated and also the mental state our mind and decision are going to be prone to for us to get the required result. I remember when i was growing up, in the higher institution of learning in Nigeria my uncle use to tell me that Chuks, you need to remain focus in your studies so that when you grow up i will know how to take some important decision in life that will either make or mar me.

–The power of believe—
One of the greatest ideals and inspiration i gather from these book is the power of believe. These ideal plays a major role in our everyday life, you must have a positive thought or idea before we embark on any journey of life that is why having that self believe plays a major role in our thoughts. Believing in our self and ideals gives us a sense of belonging to the society we are at large. My personal experience is that after setting my priorities of life and working towards them by the grace of God almighty, i still have that conviction or believe in me that no matter the time or period it will take me to achieve my goals, i still have that positive instinct, that is believe that no matter what am going to be very wealth in life and achieve all my plans in live. That is the power of believe. When we believe in what we are doing, things will always work rightly with all we do in life.

–The ability of imposing change—
Change they say is inevitable, the only constant thing in life is change so in other for us individual to be successful in our daily activities or endeavour is to always apply change in all we do. For instance when we are always prone to doing things in one way traffic, we always get one way result. But when there is always a dynamic way of doing those things, we always get dynamic results. Change is a key factor in ways of making wealth in our day to day activities. The way we do particular things in a particular time in different ways will always give us different results at all times. In my personal experience, in the profession am practicing and business am doing, there was a time in my career as a practicing engineer working with a reputable construction firm in Nigeria, i was been paid as a monthly salary the sum of N7,500.00 (seven thousand five hundred naira only) as an engineer and during that process, i was offered a job in the banking industry in Nigeria that offered me N45,000.00(forty five thousand naira) as at the same time, but i refuse their offer because i know what i wanted in life, i wanted change in a positive way. If i accepted the job in the banking industry, it pays very well but i will be prone to doing activities the same way. That is the way i saw it then, but in the construction industry we meet different things at different times and new technology at different time, so it gives me time to task myself in different way and different ideal will always come up. So in this process or doing change is always inevitable.

–The use of words and vocabularies—
The tongue is the most dangerous part of the senses of the human body according to research of statistics. The words we alter at different times and places of our life go a long way in making us. Through the words we say from our mouth at times discourages us in our road to success and a proper use of it at the proper time still leads us to success in life as well. That is why most times it is advisable to use words or qualification that sound solemn to hearing at all times. In the actual sense of life, words can produce illness and also words can kill. That is why wise physicians are very careful about the way they communicate with their patient. My personal experience is that at all times i make sure i chose my words before i say them out in order for me not to upset any one with my words of mouth.

–How to react to emotional signals either positively or negative—
This is a very important issue that we need to recognise in our daily endeavour, the reaction we possess in situation we find our self. Either we will react positively or negatively or we look at the situations at hand and use it as an advantage towards what we are doing. These signals can come either as a storm or can take you on aware and at the end of it all it either make or mar you. Situations at times, when we learn from it, it prepare us on how to handle issues that are greater than us at times and also have a require solutions to those issues. Emotions such as boredom, impatience, unease, distress or mild embarrassment send nagging signals to the brain cells which makes us uncomfortable, if not properly handled will become complicated and cause emotional brake down and not make us think straight. At the long run these signals turn into fear, and as we all know the fear of the unknown is very dangerous to us health wise and otherwise. All these signals start as a small issue and then grow into something big and if not properly handled positively it erupts into something big that one cannot handle anymore. We should not allow emotions to over ride our decision making in life. The personal experience i had was very bad that it almost cost me my life but at the later end i had an intervention and God turned my situation into blessing because i used my emotions positively to turn all situations around.

–Decision making—
One of the greatest joy of financial success in life and avenue of making wealth is how we make decisions that affect the desire changes we want in life. Making a viable decision determine what we will meet in future. Even when we set our goals we must first decide on what we want to do or be in future before we set our goals. Decision making can be positive and also comes on the negative side as well. But the kind of decision we decide at any given time put us in the right perspective of life. So as an advice, anything we do we must always have a good sense of judgment before we embark on that conclusion.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

These ideals will act as a morale boaster to my life and daily activities because it will help brooding my thinking abilities and also add to the little i know about daily planning and creativities of achieving success and also taking a giant step in life and in business and also in family management. It will also help in enhancing my vocabularies, to know when to use the right words at the right time in other not to upset any body and make those words sound appealing to anybody listening to me.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

Thinking is nothing but the process of asking and answering question
These quotes is all about before we brain storm or take any decision in life we should always ask yourself the one question that we need to ask before deciding on the final result of our conclusion.

We must take personal responsibilities for our change
Changes in life is instrumental and is achieved through the help of someone or some activities or experiences. But for these changes to remain positive and permanent in our life and day to day activities, we must always implement these changes through constantly implementing those changes and practicing it in our daily activities.

What ultimately determine who we become and where we go in life? The answer is our decision.
Our decisions in life is very instrumental to what we really desire to become in life, our decision really do make or mar us in life.

Success is a result of good judgment, good judgment is the result of experience, and experience is often the result of bad judgment.

How to Win Friends And Influence People
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea that the author is trying to convey in this book is that we should always appreciate people in any sphere of life and condition we meet them and appraise them positively to always make them work their best in anything they do and give their best in all they do as well. These appraisers must always be positive and not negatively because negative appraisal kills the ability of the person in quote and never allow that person to give his or her all at all times.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

Honest and sincere appreciations
This idea is vital in how to win friends and influence people because it is an important tool in achieving your goal and objective. Honesty and sincere appreciation brings out the person in us in our day to day activities with people we work with and people we do business with. When we are working with people or dealing with individuals it is also very important that we at all time give them good appreciations in anything they do for us. When we appreciate someone from the bottom of our heart, it gives that person to always put his or her best in all they are doing in order for the required result to be achieved. My personal experience is that where i was working before, there is a particular guy working with me in my department as a driver and also the company’s auto mechanic. Because i always appreciate his works and also been honest to him, he brings out his best to work for the company and because of my appreciations and honesty towards those working in my department, my department always come out strong and very active in the company to the acknowledgement of the management.

Criticism, complains or condemnation
This idea is like a worm in human relationship that if not carefully handled can lead to decline in value of the company and brings about low productivities in the people involved. When we criticise and complain about everybody we come across in all sphere of life we can never use that medium in achieving all we desire in life. Negative criticism tarnishes the productive power and image of the persons or company involved. Even if we need to we should do it constructively that it will not kill the person morale of working and getting the required results. When we are complaining as well, we should make sure we do that constructively in order not to offend anybody as well. Like what i have observed in life, criticisms always have a way in bringing out the best in us positively. That is when it is a positive or constructive criticism. My personal experience was there was a day my boss condemned a particular job i did at the site and he threw some light into that thing i did and challenged me that he knows my kind of person that he believes i can do better than the result he is seeing. Before he came back to site in another week time, i was able to do better than what he saw the previous week and gave a good commendation of my work.

Smiling
Smile is a very wonderful way of winning friends and influencing people. Smile plays a very vital role in friendship. Like a popular saying that a smile helps in relaxing all the nerves in a human cells. When we smile in our daily dealings with people, it gives them confident and courage that someone really cares and loves them. Smiling to me is not mandatory but very compulsory in our act of living. When we put up a smile it gives people and us confidents in all you do in life. In meeting friends and influencing people in line smiling plays a very vital role in our day to day relationship in business, families, friendships and other wise. My personal experience is that in my dealings in my office with my workers, i always put up a smiling face even when am angry so at all times they don’t even know when am angry or not and with that they give the required results.

Being a very good listener
These idea is very vital in the method or ways of influencing people. A good listener is very hard to come by but if you are one i tell you that you are very lucky. A good listener never interrupts one in any conversation. In the process of listening, it gives the complainant time to really pour out his or her mind and at the end feel relief about the whole situation or trouble the complainer is really going through. I remember when i was in the higher institution; i will site this experience as a personal encounter with a female student of mine. This lady is a very pretty lady that was into a relationship with a guy (fellow student) the guy was all and all to her but the guy had an encounter in school that made him go on exile from the campus without informing the lady in question. On one faithful day i went to visit a friend of mine in her hostel and this lady tends to be her roommate. So when i got there, my friend was not around and i decided to wait for my friend. In the process of waiting i got into conversation with the lady, and because unknowingly that i was a good listener, the lady started narrating her whole story and relationship with guy in question and on and on until at the end of it all, i became her very good companion because i was a very good listener. It continued like that until i left school, and anytime she visits Lagos, she must make sure she visit me and we talk at length.

Laying emphasis to importance of people
Here we will talk about how we will put much effort on positive importance on people we work with or people we meet every day in our lives in order for us to get the required result we need to achieve in what we want in life. For us as humans to get all the required result in our daily endeavours, we must always put much importance to the people we are meeting always. We must acknowledge the importance of people around us and what triggers them in order for them to put in their best and express their heart to us at all times. We must also acknowledge their likes and dislikes, and always put their likes and what they admire most and also what give them joy at all times in front of them in order for us to get what we really desire from them at all times. With these we can always influence them positively to be result oriented.

In all we must be diplomatic
In all we do in life we must be very diplomatic in our decision making and also never get to criticise some persons publicly but instead we should criticise someone with care, love and passion. Being diplomatic in or dealing doesn’t mean we don’t know what we are doing, it simply just making peace to rain. More also it means one should also have a fare hearing or contribution towards a particular thing on ground. Been diplomatic i say is a key tool to making friends and influencing people we come in contact with. For me as a person i make sure i don’t hurt anybody in any decision i make and also i make sure i don’t criticise my co workers publicly no matter what wrong they do to me, but instead i cherish them the more and get good result from them.

Challenges
in all we do in life, we must always put one thing into consideration and that thing is CHALLENGES. Challenges helps bring out the best in an individual, when we are challenge to a very difficult task, we tend to hold up to the pride of self esteem in us. In our offices, family, businesses, career, our day to day activities, if there are no challenges, we won’t get the best out of it and also face the greater things ahead of us. Without challenges in life, there is no success, there is no victory and also there are no accomplishments. So we must learn at all time to accept challenges in life in other to bring out the greater self in us at all times… because off challenges i face in my marriage, business and academics, that is what has taken me to the very height of my career and makes my family stronger and stronger.

All these ideas will help me positively because have learnt a very important thing in life that in business and my family relationship or in any kind of relationship, i should always put those that are involved, their opinion first that is always listen to what they have to say first before i come into conclusion. And in all this a good and required result will be achieved that will always benefit any party that is involved in that conversation or conclusion.

Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea of the author in these book real magic is the help of bringing out the inner person in us and making us explore the potential we have inside of us and make it look like real magic in the actual sense of manifestation. And also make us exploit the positive forces around us and bring out the real being in us.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

The sense of self confidence in us—these idea is vital in these book real magic, having self confidence in us so we can use that confidence in making real and actualising our dreams in life. Having self confidence in what we do in life and our environs help us to get the best in us and bringing out the you in you. Having a positive mind set—having a positive mindset that all we do on earth is well and is been guided by the spiritual forces protecting these planet earth. In our personal believe or in the book of the word of the lord, faith is a substance hope for and manifested in our mind before it becomes reality. Our minds set needs to be positioned positively and at the right frame so that success can come in and possess our thoughts and put us in the right mood where the forces controlling this world cannot obstruct its manifestation. According to real magic, for anything called magic or miracle to occur in our life, we need to put our mind right positively so we can achieve all that need to be achieved at a particular time.

Having a no limit attitude approach towards any issue on ground—here having a no limit approach towards any task ahead of us in any given point in time gives us the edge towards achieving greatness in life. We don’t limit our self in trying to achieve greatness in life. The day we limit our self will be the beginning of failure in our lives. In setting goals of life, we always think big and work towards achieving what we have thought of. For us as humans thinking big, we are not limiting our self and ideas because one day we will stumble into achieving what our heart desire in life. In my social and professional life, I have never limited myself in all I do that is why I am above most of my peas in live, And I no as am not limiting myself, I am bound to move higher and greater in life.

How to create a miracle mind set— miracle is the manifestation of an impossible act making it look possible and visible. Our mind is the engine room to achieving greatness in life. We first of all dream or imagine an event or activity in our dream world and then it is registered in the mind of a man and the mind starts to act on what has been registered in the heart or mind and begins to move the entire body towards achieving that set goal in the mind. So in our every day life we always believe that one day a miracle will com to past in our life that will make us achieve what we desire in life. That is why at all times we must always have a miracle mind set that, it is going to be well at all times. Miracle is a thing of the heart. If your heart desire it, it will come to manifestation and reality.

How to live a purposeful life on earth— in all we do in life, we must always put one thing into consideration and that thing is CHALLENGES. So we must learn at all time to accept challenges in life in other to live a purposeful life on earth.

How to create and live and become a spiritual minded person— a spiritual minded life we live on earth help us to respect people we meet in our everyday and also give maximum respect to our creator as well. We must always acknowledge him in all we do on earth and put him first in our daily living. We must also put him first in our business and also seek him in our prayers so as for him to always guide our steps and give us great visions in all we do. In my daily life on earth I always seek him first in all I do and he has never failed me. He has always helped me in achieving all I do in life and also he is my inspiration at all times. Been spiritual minded in a nut shell is all about inspiration from our inner man or being.

How to live life of self esteem and respects to people we meet everyday— in all we do in life, we must always put one thing into consideration and that thing is respect. Respect helps bring out the best in an individual, when we are challenge to a very difficult task, we tend to hold up to the pride of self esteem in us. In our offices, family, businesses, career, our day to day activities, if we don’t have self esteem and respect, we won’t get the best out of it and also face the greater things ahead of us. Without all this that is respect and self esteem in life, there is no success, there is no victory and also there are no accomplishments.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

It will help in a practical way in my life because real magic has made me realise that there is existence of super natural spirit on these earth that we live in and these super natural powers control the physical existence of the earth. With these in my mind, i will always try to put into consideration it existence before i put anything into practice and also put the spiritual existence first before i decide on any decision i want to take in my chosen career and life in contrast.

The New Dynamics of Winning

Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

Here the author gives us guide in how to succeed in everything we do in life. Making us have the ability and mental attitude of a champion. Having a do or die attitude to succeed in our everyday life and getting the best out of life generally. And also helping us to manage stress in life and using stress as an advantage in gaining success.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

–The zeal to becoming a winner— the ability and zeal to be a winner or a champion is to work hard and make winning an attitude in you. We must always have that psychology of winning at all times and also break every bounds and disorder between the circles of success. To become a winner in all we do we must be physically and psychologically ready at all times. For instance when an athletes is preparing for a major competition or event, he or she must prepare himself or herself for a particular number of months or years and that athletes must also be ready physically and psychologically for him to compute and also have that drive or zeal in him that he is going to be successful and come on tops in any event he finds himself doing. This is also the same principle we must apply in becoming successful and as we do that we must also be patient as well. And most of all we must endure at all times no matter the circumstances we find our self.

–The essence of fear—FEAR is a major factor that limit our success in life and also in all we do in life. Fear causes a major upset and weight us down psychologically that it make our productivity in where we work and our daily life to be very low. This idea is like a worm in human relationship that if not carefully handled can lead to decline in value of the company and brings about low productivities in the people involved. When we have fear in us in all sphere of life we can never use that medium in achieving all we desire in life. Negative criticism tarnishes the productive power and image of the persons or company involved. Even if we need to we need put fear in what we do we should do it in a way that it will not deprive us from loosing hope and faith. The day we start having feared in us in any decision we want to make in life, it will be the beginning of failure in our life. In a nutshell in all we do, we should try by all means not to be afraid but to take a bold step and achieve what we desire in life.

–Making of a winner and a champion—there are a lot of things involved in the making of a champion and a winner. But for the purpose of these book am assessing “the new dynamics of winning” I will say that COMMON SENCE, KNOWING YOUR FIELD and SELF-RELIANCE. These three traits are the things we need to consider at all time in our daily task of becoming a winner and a champion. Common sense is the ability to always no how to simplify complex issues and getting it right to the core at all times, also knowing our fields of expectorates that is knowing what is needed to be done in order to be successful at all times. Things that will make you get problem solved at ease and getting good result at all times. Knowing what to do and knowing how to handle issues and stress. Also we will also look at self-reliance, here self reliance is one of the major traits of becoming a winner or a champion at all times. Because of self reliance, we tend to get personal planning and all activities aliened and arranged and also put in structures so as to lay that trend for success at all times. My self experience is that right from time I have always believed in my self that one day I will be very successful in life and as it is I have so much structures on ground that will help me achieve that target of my life.

–WE SHOULDN’T RUSH SUCCESS—here the ideal of not rushing success is that success is a thing of process. We don’t just start a thing and expect to start having result immediately. Just like a farmer sow his seeds during planting period and he is expected to reap during harvest period so it also applies to all aspect of life and even succeeding in life. For us to succeed in life we must always have some structures on ground that we must all nurture and allow to grow before we start reaping out from that structure that is in place. I will use my personal experience as an example, when I was still working in a firm, I was doing well in my chosen profession, but at the end of the month I go home with something very small. To people I was living a comfortable life. Then one day I realise it all when I was in a seminar tagged multiple streams of income. After the whole event, after series of consultation, I had to embark on a journey of been self employed. I put some structures on ground do at the initial stage it was very rough but as time goes on I realised that I had to give that structure some time for it to mature and today it is still maturing until it will get to the stage of harvest.

—How to manage stress and use it to our advantage—these idea is an idea that need not be neglected in ways of winning and becoming a champion. Managing stress and using it to our advantage is when at the initial stage we identify what makes us go through stress in our daily life and also master a way they we recall those events in our memory and always try to avoid it at all times and do something else that will not bring that reoccurrence. Then also we make sure that we make the best out of the issue of stress and use it to our advantages at all times. I personally use stress to my advantage in my own way in the sense that I make sure when am doing anything in the office I make sure I finish up that item immediately and move into something else so that I don’t have pile documents on my table and get into something else and I make sure that everyday I create at least two hours to relax on my own and also refresh my memory so I can do more things and also give room for other ideas to come in as well.

—In biding in us self confidence and self transformation—self confidence and self transformation is a major trait of a champion. We must possess those attribute in us before we must have that mind set of becoming a champion. This idea is almost available in every aspect of success. It is one of the major qualities of a leader and also a champion. Having confident in everything we do in life gives us PMA (positive mental attitude) in facing challenges ahead of us in life and gives us the difference above every man we met in the street. For us to be a well resound leader we must always lead by example and for us to lead by example we must always have confidence and courage in all our decisions in life.

—Becoming a true leader—these is the crown of all we have been talking of. Becoming a true leader, we must have all the trait of a leader and also be a leader by example. We must lead those we are guiding with care and respect in other for us to be respected in return. Respect is not commanded but it is gained in all we do. As a good leader in our daily dealings or life or in our marriages and family we must always respect every body we come across in life and also respect them in return. Qualities of a leader must always be in us. And all this helps us to be successful in our families, our businesses and our life entirely. These make sue to be true champions and winners…

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

All these ideas will help me in one way or the other because there is a particular item that captured my mind and that is “the twenty one day plan”these plan is very vital in my life because I have never had time to plan my daily activities but with the guide in these book I will make sure I put it into practise and also try to make it work in my life.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

No matter how much wealth or recognition the world lays at your feet, don’t allow your integrity to be contradicted by your behaviour in any area of your life… these quotes really captured my attention because it is a general mentality of life that when we start making wealth or been successful, we allow it to over ride out taught and sense of living that we start miss behaving. So for that we should always behave normal right from the day we have not made it till the time we have made it so as to always have that confidence in people we are dealing with at all times.

Also, these quote is that losers let it happen , winners make it happen and it is not who you are that holds you back, it is what you think you are not… in all we do we must always make things happen because that is what a leader is all about.

Goal Setting 101

Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea that the author is trying to convey in this book is all about the ways at which success can be achieved with proper planning and dedications. And also how this planning can be done in a way that it will be a part of our daily life style that is setting of goals that will guide us in achieving success and also how these goals could be set by us to plan success that we require in life.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

Identifying goals

Goals are very essential in our way to success. For us to succeed we must first of all plan our success before we start actualising success. The process of planning our success is what we look at and call GOALS. Goals are specific, measurable items to be achieved at a particular given time. We must put so many things into consideration before goals are been set and achieve. For goals to be set we must first of all understand what goal is all about, also know why goal setting is important, study the anatomy of goals, and also makes every thing counts with respect to how small of big that thing in question is. More also for us to achieve goals we must measure some certain issues or item and value them before we say we have achieved our goals such as identifying results, identifying directions for our life, identifying improved self images, giving us courage etc. in my personal life, have set some goals already and which am achieving those goals. For instance I set a goal in my marital life that on or before 30 years old I want to get married and also getting married to my very best friend. As am talking to u no I got married before 30 years old and also to my very best friend. I work towards it and I achieved it.

Identifying success

Identifying success is another key word or thing to do in our ways of achieving success. When we meet success in our everyday life, how many of us can identify it? It takes a mind that is positioned towards achieving success to identify and acknowledge that what he or she is seeing is success. Identifying success takes a well discipline mind and also what the mind or heart desire at that particular time. I remember when I was working in a construction company in Lagos, I worked very hard in that company that I rose to the position of a project and operations manager. Then one faithful day I stumbled into a client that gave me my first

Individual project for me to manage and I saw that as an opportunity for me to move into my success. I took the bull by the horn because at that instant I identify that opportunity as my first step to success. Immediately I resigned from my office and the story today is that am a boss of my own and have a business of mine which I have some employee.

The SWOT Analysis

The swot analysis is the major tool needed in the effective analysis of a given situation. SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunities and threats), these are the issues we will meet in our everyday life towards achieving success in life. We must acknowledge strength which is one of the greatest issues towards achieving success. We must at all time no where our strength lies in all we do and make sure we take advantage of it. Also we must no about our weaknesses in what we are doing and find out how it affect us in our business and learn how to use it to our advantage at all times. We then talk of opportunities, these we have wolverine all over the world, it’s the left for us as individuals to no when an opportunity comes and take advantage of it. And also no when we come across an opportunity in life. Then finally we have Threats, we come across threat at all times in our daily living, in our marital life, social life, academic life and also business life. But the best way is to manage these threats at all times. In my personal life, have come across all these issues and the best way I handle it is to understand what the are all about and I tried to handle them amicably.

The idea of being Focused

We look at the process of being focus, when we are focus in all we do we can easily attain our goals in life. When we look at situations around us we tend to loose it all because of what Mr A. is passing through and the way he is handling it we become afraid to venture into any thing we have in mind to do. Fear brings about us not been focused in life. We allow the situation of things to over ride our decisions of life. The decision of archiving a goal is not just done in a day, but it takes lots of time and duration to achieve it. So for one to achieve it we need to focus fully to achieve all that needs to be done. In my personal life, I was been focused right from the day I started working in my first company as an employee and I was very focus in all I was doing and it all paid at the end of it all. From that moment on I started moving forward in all I do. Then I moved on from there and today it is paying very well for me and my family. So in all we do we must be very focus in life at all times..

Having a positive attitude towards our goal

We need to have a positive attitude towards out goals and objective in life, positive attitude brings out the champion in us at all times. Even when we are surrounded by situations that say we will not make it in life and never get good result in all we are doing we must always have a positive attitude in making it work. Just like the inventor of electricity, he failed over nine hundred times but he never gave up and at the end of it all he was able to get the right formula which is what the world is enjoying today. When asked that he failed over nine hundred times he only gave these remark that he was able to get over nine hundred ways to arrive at his goals. He was positive no matter how much he failed in those result but never allowed it to weigh him down and he was able to achieve all that he wanted. For our goals we must also be positive at all times for us to get the required result from our goals.

Having a plan to suit or fit our goals

Planning is very essential in goal setting and it helps in caring out the essentials of making it in life and goal setting. Planning brings the best in a man or a leader. When we plan properly, it gives us an insight on how our future is going to look like. If we fail to plan that means we are planning not to succeed. We must be aggressive enough to put some decisions on ground that will help managing issues that we face all the time in life. Proper planning brings about good results at the end of the tunnel.

Having the power of choice

Choice is a major tool in goal setting and also road to success. Also for us to be leaders in our community and environ, in our marital life, social life, and spiritual life, we must always make a choice in our lives. No matter how good or bad in deciding our choice of life, it’s either those choice make us or mar us. But the truth of it all is that we must make a choice in every aspect of our lives. The kind of choices we make determine what we are going to be or achieve in life. Choice is an essential commodity in goal setting and also success in life. I remember when I was growing up as a young boy, I made a choice in life and that choice is what is making me grow strong in my marital and spiritual life.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

They will help me in a way that most of these things I no them one way or the other, but I never put any of these facts into practise and since I have another opportunity to read about them again, I guess I don’t have any option than to put them into practise fully and take advantages of it implication to affect my business world, my marital life and also to impact people around me in making them realise what goals is all about and its benefits.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

The difference between what one person and another achieves depends more on goals choices than on abilities; here in my own words I will say the kind of goals we set determine the achievements we are going to receive or gain at the end of it all.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

No.

The Law Of Attraction

Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea that the author is trying to convey in these book the laws of attraction is that our living body act or is been controlled by some spirit that is called attraction. The human body works with the forces that are surrounding the earth and these forces works in a way that what we think and position our mind in either positively or negatively and the action we take at that particular instance will either make or mar us. That is we are been attracted to the way we reason and the directions of our reasoning…

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

The power of our words

Our words is a very powerful tool to anything we do in life, most times when we use our words we neglect the powerful vibration it gives to our life and also the attraction as well. The words of our mouth should mainly be positive at all time. We must always proclaim good things to ourselves at all time because anything we say with mouth in words, the forces acting in this world around us at all time which is the forces of attraction. The words of our mouth attract either good or bad into our lives depending on what words that is coming out from our mouth. The kind of words we say attract the kind of person or life we want to achieve on earth. I remember when I was growing up as a kid, I always wish my self good at all times not knowing the implications of what I was saying or doing. But today I tell u am really doing well in life because have always told myself that I will always make it in life and also be a good leader in what I do in life and also make wealth out of it as well. Presently in my marital life and the life of my children, I always say good words to their life anytime I wake up in the morning and all the days of their lives…

The ability to respond to our feelings positively or negatively

Here our feelings play a very important role in our life. Our feelings help to put us in shape in our daily planning of life. Before there will be an attraction in our business or our daily life, we must first of all have a particular feeling about our environment or what we intend to do. The laws of attraction involve or work with our feelings at all time. For us to feel good or bad about a particular idea or item, we look at it at the long run what this feeling will bring out or what the future reference will eventually turn into either affecting our lives positively or negatively. My personal life, I always have these positive feeling that anything I do in life and in business I will always meet the right people that will always drive me into my destiny of been successful in my career and also my business, because of that feeling of getting it right, I always meet the right people or I always attract the right people at the right time…

Identifying our desire by taking note of our contrast

Here taking note of our contrast is all about taking note of the things we don’t like at all in other for it to help us or lunch us into the right path of our lives or success. Things we don’t like defers in terms of individuals in the sense that when we identify what our dislikes are we should always use it to our advantages at all times. For instance me as an individual, I don’t like meeting people that are straight forward in there dealings and because of that contrast or dislike that I have in me about people that are not truthful and has low self esteem, I usually attract those that fit into my heart desire, people that have a high self esteem and people that are truthful in all they do and people that will help me move into my dream, and destiny…

Paying attention to our desire

We need to pay absolute attention to our desire because its one of the most critical aspect of law of attraction. It is very good that we attract people and also attract things that will always make us happy in life but if we don’t pay attention to those desires we will not be able to achieve succeed in life. Paying attention gives us the edge in all we do to achieve success. We can dream dreams, set great and wonderful goals, be a very good leader in all we do, have things working for us in every aspect of our lives and so on and so forth. But the truth of it all is if and only if we don’t pay attention to those dreams and aspirations, we end up not achieving anything at the end of it all. So paying attention to all we do no matter how small it is goes a long way and gives us edge towards achieving success in life. My personal experience is that I paid attention to my dreams and aspiration on making it in life and having a good business or career and today because I paid attention to it and I never joke about my time, am living that dream although not to the fullest yet but with concentration and attention, I will get to the fullest very soon…

The ability to allow things around us

The ability to allow gives a edge towards all we do. When we allow, it doesn’t mean we don’t know what we are doing. Allowing helps up to identify the good things from the bad things and also gives the ability to choose from what we have observed in the attraction we are witnessing. When we allow, we identify the negative things of our life or negative things of what we don’t want to happen to us and use that medium to position our mind, strength and ideas towards the positive things of life for us to achieve maximum success in life generally. In my own personal life, I allowed so much in my growing days like I don’t want to be poor, I don’t want to end up not going to school, that also I don’t want to end up not been creative in life and also I don’t want to end up not been a blessing to peoples life. As am talking to u now, I know am not poor despite the fact that have not gotten to the peak of success, also as I am now am a graduate of an institution in Nigeria, not only that, am a graduate of building technology that is am been creative in life doing great things as per the construction industry in Nigeria and also today I and my family are blessings to people in my community and those in my immediate environment…

The ability to attract wealth and abundance

Here we look at ability to create wealth through vibrations and attractions. Wealth creation depends on the positivist of our mind structure. If we make up our mind that we are going to be rich and we position our thought, strength and ability towards the purpose of our mind we will get it right at all times. What we produce and think in our mind is a product of what we are going to be in future. Attraction of wealth and abundance is not a Childs play because when you have that thought in your mind, the forces of attraction starts working immediately because the mind been positioned send forth a positive attraction around us and been that that attraction is positive, it starts attracting those things and people that will make you succeed in life. So here we note that positive attraction bring forth positive result or response.

The ability to identify ideal jobs or true callings

There are great jobs and good opportunity in the larger world waiting for us to harness. But such opportunity is not easy to come by and also identify. For us to no all these opportunities we must always be vigilant and observant. For instance I will use my personal experience as an issue. When I graduated, I worked for a construction company for 2 years and during my service with the company I was privilege to work under a particular project manager then an opportunity came up and he discussed it with me and I saw it as an opportunity I concur with the idea he shared with me so I resigned from my company and we set up another construction firm and I started running from the outside. We started moving higher and higher to the stage that we became well known in the construction industry in Nigeria. With all this it gave me the opportunity to be focused and am a man of my own and I do my own business till date. That is what I see identifying an opportunity and taking advantage of it and it lead me to my own dream and desire…

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

All these ideas will help me in my practical life in a way that it has made me to understand that there is a particular force acting in our lives in all we do and that I will always take note of them and recognise them because recognition is very important. If we fail to recognise these forces and use it to our advantages either positively or negatively we will always lose it at the end. So what I will do is always make use of those attractions and possess it at all times and also help people around us to note theirs as well and give guide lines on hoe to use them…

Goals
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea of the author on goals is based on how to set goals and also ways of making your goals to come to reality. Also how to make our dreams come to past and made us know the driving factor on how to be successful and achieve all we need to no and how we can get the desired result in our professions and financial dependent in life through the process of goals setting,…

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

The power of thought
Under goal setting I understand one vital idea which is the power of our thought; in life if we want to be successful we must acknowledge the thought we have inside of us. There is a saying in this book and I quote that when we ask a successful person about what he thinks most of the time he will say he is thinking about what he wants in life and also ways he can achieve it. Also when u ask an unsuccessful man the same question his own answer is that he will be complaining about all his problems and not finding lasting solution to it.. Here the power of thought makes the difference between the successful man and that of the unsuccessful man. For us to think of anything and also set Goals in life we must always think of what we want to do and also set the goals we want to attain in life. Basically the power of thought comes in. we must always at all times think before we decide in what to do in life. my personal experience is that right from when I was growing up as a young boy, have always have it in mind that am going to be successful in life and also have so many great thoughts about my life and today am really living in those thoughts of mine and life is sweet. So we must at all times believe in our thoughts at all times and work in line with it to get great results…

Taking Responsibility of life
Life is a very important aspect of our existence, we must at all times take responsibility about anything we do in life and that responsibility will either make us or mar us in life. What we think of life and what we desire our life to be must be a decision we have concluded and agreed to achieve in life. Either positive thinking or negative thinking, we must at all time take responsibility for our success and failure in life. We must always stop blaming people about our failure in life. And also make strategies on how to move our life forward at all times. The way we see our self and visualise what we want to be and achieve in life must be properly adhere to and structured the mode of living we need in life. Success doesn’t just come by sitting down and folding our hands but is achieved by hard work and taking responsibilities of any decision you make in life. In my personal experience, I took responsibilities in my achievement in life, I took that risk of been self employed and multiplying my income and today I can say have achieved that goal because I took responsibilities of my decision and also ready to bear the consequences either positively or negatively of my life and today am not regretting any bit of it…

The idea of choice making
Choice in life and in our attitude helps determine the extent we want to go or achieve in our life of goals setting. When we set goals in life we must always have a choice of what we want to do in life and then we put that decision into writing before we start working towards it to get results. Result oriented is all about the kind of choice we make and how we work towards that decision we are making. In goal setting, one thing is to have a mind set which is choice and another thing is to realise that mind setting which is working towards that choice of ours to make it come to past. I remember when I was growing up as a boy, I had a mind set (choice) to be a great man on earth, a person that will affect peoples life one way or the other either financially, materially, and other wise. Today I find myself doing all those one way or the other. And with the help of IIGL, I no am going to take that decision of mine have been my choice to a greater height.

The ideas of overcoming difficulties
The concept of overcoming difficulties is very key in goal setting in life. We must one way or the other gotten to a stage in life where we will say life is very difficult because of the challenges or situation of our economy in the country of birth we are from. Take for instance a country of mine called Nigeria. My country Nigeria is a blessed nation with a lot of natural resources and human resources, but the way the economy is been run by some set of people is making the standard of living so so difficult to the youths in our Nation. When we graduate from the for walls of academic background, we find it very difficult to get a job of our own. With this entire, how will the youth of our Nation overcome difficulties in life? But with the ideas of goal setting and also our mind set, so many youths carter for them selves by providing jobs for their self and also making ends meet in other for them to really be what they want to be in life at all times. So for us to overcome difficulties, we must make up our minds to setting our hearts to the desires of our minds at all times.

The response to challenges
Challenges is a key factor in life. Challenges bring out the best in a man or in any organisation or settings in life. Without challenges, there will be no actual GOAL settings in life. We must go through challenges in other to get what we desire in life. Challenges make a man and bring out the best in us. I remember when I was going through a certain challenge in my academic back ground in school some years ago; it wasn’t that I had to go through those processes. It was really not easy for me going through those but the truth of it all was that it gave the room to actually get myself involved academically and at the end of it all I came out with a very good grade from school. And learnt that in life we must always get what we always desire but we must always face a lot of challenges to get to height we desire in life.

Having self confidence in all we do
Having self confidence in us so we can use that confidence in making real and actualising our dreams in life. Having self confidence in what we do in life and our environs help us to get the best in us and bringing out the you in you. Self confidence gives us the ability to be focused and self empowerment in our daily knowledge and improvement in life. Self confidence plays a very vital role in our life that it helps in shaping and structuring our personal believes and gives us the pathway or light to what we intend doing in life. With self confidence on what we believe we are either through the spirit being or the physical being, gives us the courage to always believe in our instinct and know that there is a power really protecting us in this part of the galaxy we live in.

The making and correction of goals
When we fail in what we are doing in life we shouldn’t be worry. It doesn’t matter how many times we fail but what matters most is how many times we are ready to bounce back and take the bull by the horn. Thomas Edison failed so many times in his experiment and finally got the required result. He had a goal, a good mind set of discovery. When asked that he failed; he just said that he got different ways towards achieving his result. Failure is a great weapon in determining success and making goals come to past. Because without failure we cannot achieve our set goals in life.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

These ideas will help me in life because it has given me room to seriously no how to plan my life and that of my children and my immediate environment, in the sense that it has given me an eye opener on goal setting, sometimes what we see as goals are not necessarily goals but dreams. Also the ideas have also made me to always take responsibilities in all I do in life in the sense that where I find myself today is the handy work of the decision or responsibilities I have made in the past that have come to reality…

That no one can make me feel inferior without my consent

The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea of the author is on how we as humans to no how to tackle issues relating to our professional and personal lives, and also ways we can relate to those issues and ways such issues can be handled and be related to and also how to handle people around us at all times in order not to have issues with them.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

a. We should learn to accommodate people we come across in life—here this point make us to understand the essence of accommodating people we meet at all times in our lives. The process of meeting people in our everyday lives and also in our profession. These processes also make us to understand that the kinds of people we meet most times are not everyday people we live with because we might no who or what that person is in the society we live in. that’s why anytime we come across anybody we should always accommodate them at all times because they might be the desire person we need in life to get to the highest level we need to get to in life. In my growing up days as a kid, I always accommodate people that always come across me at anytime and that has turn my life around at all times that one way or the other I meet people that have put me into a position of life that I really appreciate.

b. We should have integrity in what we do in life. One of the key factor that we desire in life towards having good habits in life is that we must have in us integrity in our dealings with people we come across in life at all times. Self esteem and integrity plays a very vital role in our decision making in our daily life and also in our professional life as well. In this book of the seven habits of highly effective people, it made us to understand that self integrity helps in making a man in his personal life and also makes him playing a vital role in is place of work and profession as well. I remember when I was growing up as a kid, my parents taught me to understand that life is all about self esteem and integrity that what you become in life and what you get in life must be gotten through self integrity. And also in all have achieve in life till date in my business, my career and also in my family linage I realize that they are given me an antidote to lives achievements. This book now confirmed it through what have read from it…

c. We should have the habit of listening. Here to be an effective leader in the aspect of our habit, we should learn and know how to listen to peoples complain and ideas before we conclude in what so ever decision we want to take towards any tin in life and also in our professions as well. We having that sense of listening doesn’t mean that we are weak in decision making; it brings out the leadership potential in you making us to always decide properly and getting the right decision in all we do. Listening is a very vital habit in human existence. A good listener brings out a good leader in you. There is one exact thing that keeps my marital life going on pretty well is that am a good listener between me and my spouse. Anytime am back from work she will always feed me with the happenings at home or in her work place, despite the fact that I may be very tired after a hard day work, that doesn’t mean that am a weaker person between the two of us but for the leadership trait in me I always listen to her even if I don’t contribute to what she is saying I respond one way or the other and with that I tend not to bridge the communication gap between us and with that it makes our relationship grow stronger and stronger because there is always someone at home listening attentively to her and advice her on the next step of action or approach to take..

d. We should be patient at all times and learn to share our thoughts and ideas. Patience is a great word in leadership control patterned, we must undergo in life. When we are patient in all will do makes us to take a right decision in our daily life, professionally and marital life. According to the saying that says a patient dog eats the fattest bone, it entails in life that when we are patient we will always hit the right decision at all times. The same treatment of patience that we give to our clients or customers in our place of work should be the same way of patience we give to our co-workers in other for them to be very productive in what they are doing in live. And we leaders must always lead by examples. My personal experience as a leader in my local church choir, I come across all kinds of character in the choir and for me as there leader, it takes patience for me to mould all this characters together for me to get the necessary result front the choir to deliver our ministration on a Sunday morning service and other activities that the choir is involved in all week long. So patience really works things out for me at all times…

e. They are business minded in all they do. Here one of the habits of highly effective people is that in all they do in life and those they meet in life, they are always business minded and focus in all they do to make sure they don’t get to offend any persons as long as they get the required result in what they desire in life. Ben business minded doesn’t mean they are shroud with people they meet but they take precisions in their daily periscope. I remember when I was growing up my dad usually says that I should be truthful and straight forward in all I do because I don’t know who I will get to meet in the next step of my life. Generally when we are meeting or dealing with people in life we should always be focused so as to attain success in what we do. I remember when I was growing up as a young boy, I always take things seriously as if my life depends on it. I take my studies seriously, meeting with people as well. That’s why in any place or anything I find myself doing I make sure I do it well because you never can tell where that singular act of ours can take us to..

f. We should always put the end product or result of what we want to do in mind before we venture into it. All highly effective personnel always have one thing in common, they always put the end result of the way to their success at the beginning of the way to success. A successful man always believes that in any business he or she finds her self, they no that is a must to make it because of the positioning and orientation of the mind. Mind positioning takes determination and dedication in achieving such feat. As a growing up kid I always no or have it in mind that when I was in primary school I was looking forward to the day I was to graduate and move into secondary school and also the same there as well for me to move into higher institution of learning. Also when I started my business as well I new that I was going to succeed in it. Putting my end result in my mind and working towards achieving that result from the earlier stage of planning as well.

g. Ability to see through and respond to a problem; here we should always be result minded in all we do. No matter the situation or problem we find yourself we should never give blame to our parents or to folks around us as an excuse for failure. We should always see through our problems and always look for a preferred solution in solving those problems. One of the greatest abilities of highly effective people is that the are always at all times have the ability to see through their problems and respond to it as quick as possible. My personal experience is i grew up from a very poor background, manage to go through primary, secondary and higher institution and in all i always say it in my heart that i will be very successful in life and with the right attitude that i have observe, i will make it. I had the right mind and I was able to respond to it for me to achieve my goals and objectives…

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

All these ideas will help me in my personal life because for me to be a very good leader, I must put all these into practice at all times in the sense that I must be patient, ready to listen to people, must posses very good character and also must lead by example at all times.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

“Search your heart wit all diligence for out of it flow the issues of life.” Here the author made us to understand that the heart is a delicate determinant factor of our life and our existence because through the heart is where we decide what we desire in life. And also through the heart we make decision on our daily approach to life as a whole.

“The way we see the problem is the problem.” Here these quotes make me to understand that problems most times comes by the way we come across that problem and handle it. In essence the situation we find ourselves before a given problem, we should not use the same situation in handling that problem as well.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

None.

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

None.

Leadership for Dummies
Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea that the author is trying to make us understand about this book is the leaders are made and not born, and also we should learn how to lead with encouragement and communicate properly with people we are leading and working with. Also we should be able to assemble and maintain a good team to work with at all times and also recognize and understand the true behavior of leadership.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

A. The idea of understanding our leadership potentials.

Here we all have leadership traits in us but we need people and trainers to bring out these traits in us. The essence of this book is to train us in these potentials that we need to know in other for it to help us in improving in our leadership ability. We must be able to lead by example and always carry our followers along with the plans we have in mind. We still have other potentials like leading by example and also making the right decisions at the right time to bring forth growth in the institute we find ourselves or our place of primary assignment. Like the local assembly of youths am nurturing in my local church, I make sure I put them through and guide them in their daily endeavors in life and also make them understand that tomorrow they can be potential leaders in the community they find themselves, I make sure I equip them with the leadership training I am gaining through IIGL.

B. The idea of leadership by example.

Leadership by example is a tool that is very important in the traits of potential leaders. If you are to lead well we must lead by example. When we lead by example we are showing those around us or those following us that you can do it and do it well but you need them to do it in order to create room for division of labor in our daily life and activity. In my personal life, I remember the little gathering of singers that I lead, for me to impact that knowledge of singing in them, I must know how to sing very well and also do it practically for them to realize that I know this things and not just forcing them to achieve my main aim of making them know how to sing. I must put it into practice to them so that they can find interest in it and achieve great things doing the singing thin.

C. The idea of leadership by communicating properly with your followers.

Human behavior is one of the most difficult tasks in nature for man to study and know how to manage properly. For one to lead properly, you must know how to manage these human resources and also know how well to communicate properly with these human resources in other for you to get the best and be productive in all we do in life and also in the organization we find ourselves. Communication matters a lot in leadership training, because we must be ready to communicate with people we lead in a language that they will really understand and appreciate for them to really know what you are really talking about at all times. I remember when I was a project manager in a construction firm I worked in some time ago, I have a lot of personnel working directly under me with diverse way of reasoning and understanding, the only way I can make them understand what I really want them to achieve in what we are doing for a greater productivity, I have to come down to a language they will really understand for me to get the required result at that required time.

D. The idea of creating your vision and making your followers buy into your vision.

Leadership as I may understand is all about sharing, creating ideas or structure that will work effectively. The idea of creating a vision and making your followers buy into that vision takes proper planning and execution for it to properly work effectively. Your visions and ideas need to be taught of and made to work properly by the leaders and implanted into its followers. An enabling environment needs to be put in place so as your ideas and visions will be taught to your followers through training and other wise. a typical example is that in the local group I find myself to be there leader, I make sure we set some goals for us to achieve some certain objectives, I make sure I key them into training facilities that will make my ideas and vision to look very easy and unique for them to assimilate at all times and also be in their minds at all times. Even if am not available or around them at a particular time they will be able to make the system work properly at my or anybodies absence.

E. The idea of creating a winning team in all we do.

As a good leader that we should be, we should always have the attitude of winning at all times. Creating a winning team have to do with the leaders involved having a winning mentality and a winning mind for him or her to properly impact that into the mind set and organization of the structure he has on ground. According to a saying, for a winning team to work properly to achieve result, they must always have a mind set of winners at all times. I remember when I was growing up as a kid, I always have the mind set that I will always be a success in anything I do, so what I find myself doing I always do it with all of my heart. In the company I worked as a project manager, those in my project management team always have a mind set of winning always because I made sure I make them understand what winning is all about at all times. So either I am there or not they always make sure they get result at all times even at my absence.

F. That leaders must posses some characters to be a great leader.

These characters are very unique styles that needs to be intact in the life style of good leaders, these characters are personally in built and needs to be brought out from the person involved in building a good relationship with followers he or she is leading at all times. I will use my present experience in the setting up of the conference that we are hosting in Nigeria, creating a better tomorrow. I worked closely with Felix the IIGL coordinator in Nigeria in making the conference come to pass and I really found out as a leader he had those good and great qualities a good leader should have and in the process of planning, executing and making the conference come to, he listened to those he is working with and gave room for ideas to be shared, we brain stored and at the end of the day am very sure we will have a successful and great conference in Nigeria.

G. That leaders must be positive in all they do

Good leaders are always positive in all they do, either good or bad. Possibility is the watch word to any strategic planning a leader has in mind at all times. Leaders are meant to have good foresight towards what they intent doing in their planning schedule. Thinking positively makes you have a positive mental attitude in your planning structures. Planning has some specific guide lines that need to be followed and attended to. In our daily life we need to plan properly to get result. I share as a personal experience, when I was still working as a project and operations manager in the construction company I was working with then, I remember that before I make any daily movement for that day I need to plan properly and also think positively in other for me to achieve result and get the required result I desire for that days task, and I tell you it really worked properly for me and the days task is achieved…

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

These ideas will help me create a positive way of leading people around me even in my place of work and in my family and also in the little assembly am in charge of as a leader there, because I saw most ideas as been helpful in all I will do. I learnt that there are different way we look at human beings and also we all have different ways of reasoning and thinking. So as a leader I learnt that I must possess some skills in other for me to manage all these beings in other for me to move forward in the areas am handling people and also make them buy into my ideas as a leader and never to use veto power on any body or anything I do but to make them understand all I want them to understand at all times.

Nonviolent Communication

Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is main idea the author is trying to convey in the book?

The ideal of the author is that we should always have in mind that there is always a different way of handling conflict in life other than been violent or aggressive towards the person you are really having a confrontation with. Instead of using violent languages, we use diplomatic words that will not get someone angry and frustrated, that we should always create a personal and professional relationship in our daily life, and we should be always focus on connecting through empathic listening rather than been right or getting what we want towards people we deal with all the days of our life.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. .We should put our thinking right in other not to cause argument or depression.

Here nonviolent communication make us to put our thought in a rightful way in other not to cause conflict to the people we are sharing those thought with. I would have become a “mute.” To be very sincere, this book is one book that has brought me close to thinking about my relationship with my family and dear friends. I can’t say much about what my life was like when I was still with my parent and my other siblings because aside the fact that I don’t remember much, I can’t hold on to any of the thing that happen then to be something I had total control of. I’m not trying to run away from responsibility or denial what I did as not my action but what I’m saying is that most of the things I did back then were due to the fact that I did them to please someone other than myself. I was opportune to stay with a friend for a period of twelve months during the time my family had to relocate back to the country side. If I’m saying this so that you should feel sorry, sometimes when I come home in the morning after a night shift I would not get a good reception. The reason I noticed was that I wasn’t bringing money for food I would not eat. He would talk with his girlfriend and talk about how I would give money to one lady who needed help rather than bring it for food. May be I was wrong but nobody told me that when you are staying with somebody you pay him back by buying him food even against his wish. I was not feeling free because I thought they were things I should be doing to support the house that I was not doing, when I got this feeling, I started doing nearly all the household chores I could think of but yet I still did not win the approval of my friend. At a point I gave money that was promised to be refunded but never got it back.

ii. I observed is the process of Given willing fully

The best part of life is given without looking backwards, this is a very important point I observe by the author by given from the heart. As an individual I knew about given from the heart as a kid but I never knew the implication of given then, but growing up to become an adult I started knowing the principles behind given and its importance. As a kid I took care of people around me as per my peer mates, I made sure they never lack nothing even if I don’t have much to give them but I made sure they had it all and growing up i began to receive the blessings behind given. I remember when we were in secondary school; it wasn’t easy for so many of us to afford money to pay for our west African examination council exams to qualify into moving into higher institution, that period was a trying time to some of my class mates in school then but to God be the glory I was able to use my spare cash to pay for a friend of mine in school then and because of my kind gesture and my given from the heart, he was able to write his exam and today the guy is really doing well and he passed out of secondary school with the mates and set he started with back then.

iii. Expressing feelings and taking responsibilities about these feelings

Nonviolent communication a language of life helps us to work properly on our feelings towards things of life and also guide us on how to take responsibilities about these feelings of ours. Our feelings sometimes help in driving in our passion towards something in life. As a young boy growing up, my dad wanted me to study chemical engineering or geology and mining in the higher institution of learning that was what they felt I should study in school they have planed it all from the onset but without my prior notice and not asking me about what I feel towards the course of study. But on the long run I opted for what I have feeling and passion for , I ended up studying building and civil engineering as a course I have passion for and all through my stay in the institution I went through my studies in school at ease without much troubles with my academics. So as a person have learnt to express my feelings and also taking responsibilities about these feelings.

iv. Another point I gathered is the ability to listen patiently and act accordingly

Been a patient listener doesn’t mean that we are foolish or we don’t know what to say but been a patient listener gives room for the complainant to have that self accomplished purpose in mind that he or she has let loose what is really bothering that particular person at that particular time. Been a patient listener has helped me in life in various ways to achieve great fetes either in my relationship or in my place of work. In my days in school I had one of the prettiest girls in school as my girlfriend because I was a great listener. She was having some problems in her relationship before I met her in school then and she needing someone to listen to her, fortunately I went to visit a friend of mine in her hostel and there I found myself listening to her problems on how she broke up with her boyfriend then and I listened and never alter a word not knowing that I was fulfilling a purpose in her so right there and then we became friends and as you can have it we became lovers back then. In my work place am always in the mist of people, and I work with different characters of workers I make them to achieve a lot in my job for the day because I just sit with them during work and also listen to them when they express their feeling about what they are going through in life. Sometimes I refer solutions to them but sometimes I don’t and at the end of the day work they give me a better result than when I don’t engage them in conversation.

v. How to connect compassionately with ourselves.

This is a very vital role or thing to do in our lives, on how we communicate and connect compassionately with people we meet in every aspect of our lives. With good communication network we will get to meet people of diverse ethnic background and we will be able to live as one in different aspect of life. I grew up in a military barracks and we all were able to live together in that barracks as one despite our different religious and ethnic background. This living together as one is due to proper communication between one another so as to connect compassionately with ourselves. Even as a boarding student in my secondary school days it was the same experience I have back then and it has helped me in life tremendously.

vi. How NVC can help in countering and reducing the consequences of anger

The consequences of anger leads to violent, killings and other reaction but NVC helps us to know how and when to control that inner anger in us so as not to react violently. Growing up I usually have this urge in me that I don’t get angry easily but when I do get angry I will make sure that there is bloodshed. The day I almost killed my friend because of anger from that particular day on I make sure I control my anger at all times. What really happened between us is that I don’t like the smell of tobacco then and they all know that so one particular day my friend dared me and smoked into my room where I inhaled that tobacco, I was furious and we went into argument and because of that I threw a knife at him but God saved the moment that particular day the knife stung on the door that closed after he has ran out of my room and from that day onward I started to control my anger at all times..

vii. How NVC can help use force in achieving results positively

Sometimes the use of force can help achieve result in life positively. Is not all the time you allow will power to achieve results; sometime force can be used to achieve it.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

Communication is life, it determines how far I go in life, not by age but happiness. If someone lived for ten years of absolute happiness and another ten thousand years of sorrow, which of them lived longer? Often times I have used the “right words” to get the “wrong result” the reason is that the words have not said what I intended. This applies to all aspect of human endeavor and in countless times. Language is precious.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

“The world was saved by words which were said by Jesus on the cross. A woman is in pain because of words she heard.”

The book is about words, words, words in volume. It is either good or bad both are correct but most be used at the right time.

I have noticed that no one will stand and say ‘it is my fault that things went wrong’ unless the person is planning on doing worse.

I will see every situation I find myself in like a child, and then I’ll get the better of violence.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagreed with and a so, why?

The book is easy to read but it is going to take sometime to understand.

6. Did the book contain exercises for the complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

None.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

None.

Please rate the following questions on a scale from 1 to 10. Ten is good and one is poor.

A. How interesting was it to read? 10

Maximum Achievement

Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

Here the author talked about how to achieve personal fulfillment and achievements in life, and how to gain financial freedom making good use of opportunities to have a better peace of mind, better health, having a stress free relationship and also different and better ways of becoming a better achiever in life.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. That we can achieve what every we desire in life if we do the right thing:

Doing the right thing in life gives you joy in personal achievement. I have come to realize that doing what you love doing or doing the right thing makes life at ease for you and gives you that sense of fulfillment. An example of my personal life was when I was in the higher institution of learning, my parents wanted me to study a particular course then and I didn’t get to be admitted in that field and I got an alternative course but I wasnt fulfilled in that alternate course and it took me almost one full semester for me to make a switch into the course or field I feel I derive joy in studying and eventually when I got into that dream department of study I found out that things were just working in my favor because I was fulfilled doing what I love to do. With this i look closely at my actions, compare it with what people have done and ask questions in other to get the results that I desire. If I must achieve my goals, I will put this idea to practice in my present day to day life style.

ii. You need to master what you are good in doing and be the best in it:

Here for us to be successful in what we are doing as a profession or what we are doing business wise to make a living in it or to be successful in it. To achieve great success in what you are doing we need to study hard about what we are doing and make sure we do it differently or do as those that are also successful in that line of business to success. We need to work on materials and read book /journals pertaining that profession. Am a professional in my line of career and I have also found out that if I want to be outstanding I must upgrade my knowledge day in and day out to make sure that am in-displaceable in a particular item in my profession. I will sight a situation in my place of work, something went wrong somewhere and I was implicated so I was give some months off for proper investigation, so some other engineers took over what I was doing but my months of brake was cut short because those guys couldn’t deliver the project the way I was doing it and I was called back to resume immediately. Here is to show that I was on top of my game as per what I was doing.

iii. The idea of making choice in life:

Making a choice in life all depend on us as individual. To be successful in life and in your career is all a matter of Choice. The word choice is very important in life and also a determine factor as well. The kind of choice we make in our relationship and what we do will eventually speak for us at the later end of life. To live life at the fullest is all about choice, in success, relationship; achievements etc. choice is a thin of the mind, if our mind set is not tuned or position to what we desire in life we cannot achieve anything. In my relationship before I got married I had several choices in life, I met different ladies and the one I finally ended up with as the mother of my kids all bore down to my choice of making her my wife.

iv. The way to live a happy, productive life is to achieve your own peace of mind by systematically eliminating the negative people, situations and emotions that make you unhappy.

This idea is important to me because it reminds me that allowing negative people, things, situations and emotions around me will remove inner peace from my life. If I must have inner peace always, I need to eliminate negative emotions, people and situations that make me unhappy. In life we will always come across people with negative and good taught, but its left for us to know how to filter and accept the good things of life. I still remember where I worked some time ago, the guys and we were bound to live together with some of my colleague in an outstation site, there is this particular guy I met and we became friends but in the company’s hierarchy I was above him. So most times he pretend to been nice to me but he goes out saying all sort of negative things about me so when I got to find out the truth, I just have to cut him off as a friend and that is how it all ended and no negative stories about me flying all around. If negative people are always around you, they can actually rub you off your peace.

v. You need to have a system.

Without a system you can use to integrate the ideas you learn, you are like a person trying to assemble a jigsaw puzzle without a picture. And almost any system is better than no system at all. But you’ve got to learn the system and then discipline yourself to stay at it until you get the results you want. Learning is good but when it is not integrated into ones life, it becomes useless. A system will indeed help. I have learnt that having a system and staying at it is important for maximum achievement in life at large.

vi. To move ahead, you have to both learn and unlearn a few things.

You are locked in place at your current level of knowledge and skill. You can go no further with what you now know. Your future largely depends on what you learn and practice from this moment onward. This idea motivates me to always examine my life to see those areas of my life that are not moving the way it should and find out why and then ways to make it work the way I want. There is always room for improvement. Knowledge is power, the more knowledge and skills I acquire, the more I have better chances of achieving more in my life.

vii. Do what you can, with what you have, right where you are.

That’s what I did. This idea is important to me because it made me realize that time waits for no man. Procrastination kills a mans’ destiny. If I can do what I can now right where I am with the little that I have, my future is guaranteed. I must not allow laziness to stop me from achieving my goals. I have to start today. And also If I must get what I want then I have to define what it is. I have found out that once I can clearly see what I want to achieve, it becomes easier for me to see how to achieve it and the resources I need to achieve it.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

These ideas touched important areas of life such as personal development, goals, relationships, etc. they have contributed immensely in my life and I know that they have made me a better individual. Every day of my life, I will live knowing that my inner peace is paramount and so strive to have it always. In my relationships, I will bear in mind that success outside cannot compensate for failure in my relationships. I will always strike a balance in everything I do. These ideas make me a better person and so enables me create a better world.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

Nobody can make me feel good or bad. The feelings I have springs forth from within me. I control the way I feel in every situation. This is what this statement makes me to understand.

“You will rise to the height of your dominant aspirations for yourself. You will become what you most admire.”

This statement makes me understand that that which I desire and admire, I will become. If admire good things, I will have good things and vice versa.

“Rule number two is that you can never expect anyone else to like or love you more than you like, love or respect yourself.”

If I want to give love, I must have love. I must love myself for me to love others and also not expect others to love me more than I love myself.

“Beware the siren song of old habits, of the comfort zone, luring you to stay where you are, holding you back from all the great things that arc possible for you. You must consciously and deliberately counter the pull of the comfort zone as you move upward and onward toward ever higher levels of accomplishment.”

This statement is like a warning to me. There is a tendency for one to relax on her already achieved goals. I must be conscious of this fact if want to move forward and higher in life.

“One of the best ways to stop worrying is to live in day-tight compartments. Live one day at a time. In the Bible it says, Sufficient unto the day are the cares thereof.”

These ideas shows one of the ways to eliminate constant worrying in life. Living one day at a time makes one to maximize her time. You tend to do all you can today. It also makes one eliminate procrastination time wasters.

John Paul Getty, at one time the world’s richest man, gave one of his secrets of success as this: “In every business deal or transaction, identify the worst thing that can possibly go wrong, and then make sure it doesn’t happen.”

This statement is important for risk taking. The reason why so many people do not want to take risk is because fear of negative outcome but if we can face our challenges and identify the worst possible outcomes, it becomes easy to face our challenges.

“The only real antidote for worry is purposeful action.”

This statement prescribes a way of eliminating worry from our lives. If I always take purposeful actions, I will limit worrying in my life.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, If so, why?

None.

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you Complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

The book contains exercises for the reader to complete. I did the exercises and they were very effective. They refreshed my memory and also made me learn new ideas on certain issues such as goal setting and relational skills.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

Unlimited Power

Assessment by Ugbekile Chuks Friday (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea of the author in this book unlimited power is on how to master my personal and professional life and achieve extraordinary qualities that I desire in life. It also showcase how I would be able to reprogram my life to counter fear and also how to duplicate the success of others.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why its important to you. Use personal examples from your own life?

i. Archiving power and making proper use of it to make wealth

Here in this book the author made me to realize the existence of having power in life and making it useful to you and other people around you. He made mention of names like Ted Turner but to mention few as they turned the power they have to wealth creation. I realize that in life you just have to use what you have to get what you want. Professionally, these fundamentals helped me a lot without me been knowing because am in a managerial position where I work with people from different trails of life and I found out I use these people effectively well to climb the ladder in my place of work.

ii. Action is the great end of life not knowledge

Taking action in life is a great necessity why procrastination is a delayer of success and achievement. Action doesn’t just speak louder than voice, it equally speaks louder than knowledge, and that is the reason energy is simply defined as the ability to get work done. As the author puts it, success is the ongoing process of striving to become more. It is the opportunity to continually grow emotionally, socially, spiritually, physiologically, intellectually, and financially while contributing in some positive ways to others. Knowledge alone doesn’t handle all but action takes over when the knowledge is present. Actions also make wealth achievement faster and make you not to pile lots of activities together. I remember on a particular project we are to deliver on a set date and we were three weeks behind and what we needed to do will take up to six week, we just have to take some drastic measure i.e. Action for us to achieve the set task less than three weeks that is when the Push syndrome comes in.

iii. You shape your perception, or someone shapes them for you:

Terrorism is common today because we have a lot of fanatics who have allowed other people shape their perception for them and then they respond to their plans. While I was reading the autobiography of Kwame Nkrumah (former president of Ghana), it is mention that there are three things in life that changes peoples plans and these things are Money, Religion, and the opposite sex as it is suitable. Growing up as a kid, the perception of our parents is that you go through the for wall of academics and is properly planed by them not with standing your own contribution into this, but it got to a stage in life that I realize is not all about going to school and getting a job in an organization and living an average life. But we have to shape our own taught and perception to the right way of life in other to live a super-rich and comfortable life. Which is a work in progress? Because have made up my mind not to live an average life but to life a wealthy life and leave a good legacy behind to always speak for my generation to come.

iv. The kind of behavior people produce is the result of the state they are in.

One state of mind has an awesome power, and one can control it. There is a popular conviction that when ones Monday is bad the whole week is likely to be bad. But with a change of state beginning from that Monday no matter what has happened, the week will end on a brighter note. A friend cried to me one day because his result was bad and after much talking I asked him what exactly he wants he said he wanted to graduate with a good grade but with this result it was impossible with two semesters to go. The first thing I asked him was to define impossible but he looked at him with a shock on his face, then I said he shouldn’t bother but he should tell me one thing that is not possible and I will tell him 10 similar possible stories starting from the bible. After the next semester I calculated his result for him and he was on 2.37 CGPA, and then I told him he already did it and that he is going to graduate with a Second Class Lower because that class grade was from 2.4 CGPA, and all he needed was more effort. I knew I lied to him because that class grade is from 2.5 CGPA but I wanted his state of being to change from the beginning of the semester till the end. After everything I received a phone call, happily-crying, he told me he made 2.52 CGPA, I didn’t know when tears began to flow from my eyes.

v. Creating or anchoring our mind set to success

Here what I understand about the authors intention is that at all times we should picture our mind to be successful so as for us to have that feeling to be successful anytime any day. Success is a mindset, in the sense that what you position our mind to achieve daily will be what our entire soul and body will be programmed to be consciously or unconsciously. Growing up like I said earlier on I pictured my mind that I will be successful in life and presently it is a process in progress. And I know someday it will come to reality. That is my set goal.

vi. There is always a reason and purpose for things to happen in life

There are always reasons why things happen to us in life, it is either foe the good or for the bad. The reasons they happen is either for it to shape you or mar you, for your experience so as for you to face the challenges coming ahead of you. When I got married I faced a very great challenge in my life that it can lead to bad intension in life, in the I lost my job, and lost some other things in life , and from a background of been Africans there is always a superstitious believe that there is a problem from either your linage and I was facing a though storm in life that I lost everything but one thing that kept me going was that the tough times I was facing now is just to make me stronger and keep me in line to success. But today I never lost hope but I kept faith and the result is improving day in and day out. My family is still intact and blessed with three wonderful kids.

vii. Observed that knowledge is power when properly utilized

In all in all of life knowledge is the true key to success when it is properly utilized and shared to others to learn from. We can never stop learning not until we seize to exist in life. Without knowledge we are no body in life. Without knowing about or reading about how successful people made it through in life their will not be a platform for up growing youth to succeed in life. I cherish a platform like IIGL where they train youths and leaders of tomorrow to understand what life is all about and to be self-independent in life. Thanks to IIGL for putting me on the right track of success through intensive studying and knowledge acquired right here in this platform.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so how?

The general practice of this book Unlimited Power will help me in a way that is putting me on the right way of achieving success in life through hard work and knowing the right steps to take in life and also making me realize that there are sometimes I need to take so actions by force for me to move ahead and then make some right decisions in life.
