Please describe your vision of a world that works for everyone.
A world that works for everyone is a world where men are mentally equipped, emotionally prepared and are physically armed with the basic tools and vision to influence their world. A world where men do not only strife for their own good but for the collective good of all, where men continually increase in knowledge and strive for mastery, where men understand the sacredness of oneness and how we are all one, a world where everyone contributes for change.
What do you see as the most pressing problems facing the world today?
Nelson Mandela said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”, poor education is the most pressing problem facing the world today, we have failed as a people to raise generations of people that are trained and equipped to solve problems, people who are passionate to create change, we have succeeded to replace education with entertainment and have slowly driven ourselves into ignorance. The neglect of the most powerful weapon of change has caused war, violence, fraud, senseless killings etc. the world sure has countless problems but education is the root cause and one of the most important factors.
How do you feel these problems could best be solved?
If the cause of a thing is known, the solution will not be farfetched. To solve our problems we need to strategically educate our generation from the cot to the grave, we need to put mediums in place to foster proper education, not just head knowledge but educating the total man to be useful to the world. We would need to further use the media as an instrument of change rather than destruction. In the process we would succeed to raise men who would be pillars of change in whatever field of endeavor they choose, men who would be ready to transmit and pour themselves into generations unborn through monumental landmarks and influence. If we can educate every man the world would change one man at a time. Like Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said “Let everyone sweep in front of his own door and the whole world will be clean”.
My name is Nelson Apochi Owoicho, an indigene of odugbo in Apa local government area of Benue state Nigeria. Am the third child and the first son in a family of six. As a young child who lost his father at an early age, I was driven to take up the responsibility of leader in the family. The task of keeping the family together and ensuring that we all are hopeful for a better future, this has embolden me and created in me a high sense of confidence and a tenacity to succeed against all odds in life.
My dream is to create educational and leadership entities that can influence this generation and beyond and my primary goal in life is to be a man of value that can influence and mould minds that would create changes in every area they find themselves. My primary focus is education, leadership and family, this I believe would be the strategic and primary tool to make this dream and goal a reality and this is also is the bedrock for any lasting solution to our problems.
The search for value, influence and excellence has led me through various development stages. As a student in the university, I was a team member and also director of special duties in Students In Free Enterprise SIFE a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization, we carry out community based programmes. With SIFE UAM, I was involved in projects such as PREP: Prison reform and entrepreneurship programme, E-Drift: Entrepreneurship drift for youths, WIFE: women in free enterprise and many other projects that have a far reaching impact in our community.
As zonal coordinator of the Nigeria Christian Corpers Fellowship, a religious based organization, I attended various leadership training and conferences. I also jointly created and facilitated the first ever ikire/apomu youth conference which was a huge success and a tremendous impact.
As a member of National Anti-Corruption Volunteer Corps NAVC a community development and sensitization unit of Independent Corrupt Practice Commission ICPC, we developed and executed a thousand foot match against corruption packaged with sensitization programmes.
I have been a teacher in various capacities. As a class teacher I was privileged to mould young minds and work as a team with my coworkers. As a head teacher I was able to harness the power of my team and lead them to achieve laid down goals and objective and creatively break new grounds. Currently am heading a farm, a position that is challenging and demands specific, strategic and proficient managerial abilities to meet up expectations, with this exposures and experiences, I grow daily, adding value to myself in order to effectively and creatively impact and influence my world.
