As a Man Thinketh
Assessment by Onyema Augusta (Nigeria)
1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?
The main idea is that man has the key to every situation and contains within him the ability and capacity to make or mar himself.
2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why, list these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use your personal examples from your own life.
i. Every man is where he is by the law of his thought.
I think negative some times and because of this, I have learn to be pessimistic about things. But recently, I discovered that if I continue that way, there will be no progress. So I decided to change my mentality and thought to positivity. And it is really helping me to face life challenges with courage and optimism.
ii. Thought and actions are jailors of fate.
The way one thinks and acts will determine the final outcome or the aftermath in life. Sometimes, I do not think before acting and after they did has already being done, I will start regretting for my actions. There is a silly attitude that I display often and my mom always complained of it bitterly and am working on it big time because I don’t want my action to be a jailor of my fate.
iii. Man wishes and prayers only gratifies when they harmonies with his thought.
This book had made me discover that there is a lot for me to learn. Now, I understand that it is only when my thoughts harmonies with my prayers and wishes that when it can be gratified. I usually pray but sometimes, I doubt that my prayers will be answered. But now, I know that I have to belief that my prayers are answered and then it will be actualized.
iv. In all human affairs there is effort and there is result
This is true and can not be over emphasized because no matter what you do for a living, your effort is needed and once the action is carried out, there is always a result to that action. It could be soon or later. I can remember the time I was preparing for an external examination. And then, I just recently got my teaching Job. It was not easy at all because I needed to commit time and effort to both sides. And because of that I was becoming slender due to stress. To cut the long story short, my effort with prayer was not in vain. My result came out good. Moreover, anytime I remember Donald Trump quotes: “The harder I try the luckier I become. It always gives me the zeal to work hard. The effort you put in a work determines your result. If you put in little effort then your result will be little, Vice versa. Finally, I belief that if everyone can put in there very best and leave the rest to GOD in prayers, the result will be fruitful.
v. The dreamers are the saviors of the world.
This idea really touches me. To dream is to view life in a different way from the way others view it. Moreover, everyone have a dream but not all are dreamers. The dreamers turn their dreams to reality while those that just dream do the exact opposite. And I don’t want to be among those that do the opposite. I want to be among the dreamers who will someday be the savior of the world.
vi. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.
I have always wanted to know wisdom, then, I discovered the source of wisdom and he taught me to be wise and he is still teaching me because wisdom is endless as love.
And now, I have discovered that calmness of the mind is one of the beautiful jewel of wisdom. This is an idea that is new to me and I will apply it in all areas of my life and I know it will be helpful. Finally, there are few things that are priceless, wisdom and love are one of them. And this idea itself is a treasure.
vii. The strong calm man is always revered and loved
To be calm is to peaceful and quiet like a dove. And there are few persons that know the importance of being calm in this world and they are have earn others respect and love. If these seven ideas can be applied by individuals, the world will be better.
3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

To learn more about my capabilities.
To learn how to control my thought.
To be optimistic at all.
To be calm and brave.
To be able to transform challenges into a golden opportunities.
To view circumstances differently from others. Finally, practicing this ideas on a daily basics will enable me to look beyond my weakness.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull
Assessment by Onyema Augusta (Nigeria)
1. What is the Main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?
To my own view the main idea that the writer is trying to convey is that, there is no limit to the knowledge you can acquire because it helps you to see challenges as opportunities to overcome. If you remain focus, passionate and determined, then you discover that there are reasons to life as Jonathan Livingston Seagull discovered and this will enable you to breakthrough and find fulfillment in life.
2. What are the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List this seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use your personal examples from your own life.
i. There is a reason to life
We can find self fulfillment, joy, peace, love and freedom if we discover that there is a reason to life like Jonathan seagull did. I can remember vividly, back then was in secondary school. One of my school teachers will always tell us that our destinies and other persons are tied together. I didn’t get a clear picture of the message she was passing across that day during the school fellowship. Moreover, I never thought of it. While reading this book what she said two years ago flashed back into my mind. Then, I thought of it. There are lots of people out there that are physically, mentally, financially, and other wise challenged and they can not pull through themselves. Eventually, they will need assistance but where will the help come from, God cannot not just leave his throne in heaven and come to the earth to help them. Although he cannot but to make it easier, he will make use of I and you and for this reason I try to be conscious of the step I take, the decision and choices I make on a daily basis in life because that will determine if i am qualified to help them and myself. Moreover, indeed there is or are reason(s) to life and this discovery has courage me to keep on moving in life because there are responsibilities and assignment to be done which is. I have to accomplished my mission given to me by God, I have to help others in their predicament and finally I need to leave a good legacy behind for others to follow by letting my true self resurface .which is being perfect like Jonathan Livingston seagull.
ii. There is a price to pay in life
The price one pay in life is always expensive and it is really difficult to pay such price or prices. It takes grace to pay up. But like the saying goes there is no crown without a cross and moreover nothing good comes easy. Jonathan seagull had to pay for being different, for his freedom to learn and discover flight. Even when he was doing the right it was judged as wrong by the elders of the gulls and his fellow gulls who choose to be ignorant of the truth. A friend of mine said this to me, ”let your days be rough.” One certain day while we were discussing about the challenges that life has to offer. And immediately I pick offence for what he said. And even when he tried to explain what he meant, I never listened. Later I realized that what he said was right because it is only when my days are rough I can talk about the experiences and challenges I encountered, while I am celebrating my huge success in life. No matter how I see it, I feel that the price am paying presently is a mere that any serious minded person pays on a regular basis, although, there are other prices that I am paying and am yet to pay. But the most important of all is discipline in all aspects and this I cannot is nearly impossible to attain but it is attainable. It has not being easy working on myself. Most especially, on how to discipline myself because discipline is an attribute that needs time, strength, patience and commitment to attain. The truth is that I am lacking commitment and time management. I do not even know where to start from. Most times, when I try to read a book that is cumbersome, I feel nonchalant to read it at all and even when I encourage myself to read, I will ensure that while reading I am comfortably seated or lying on my bed. Then, after some minutes you see me sleeping with my book. Definitely I am discipline lacking commitment and discipline and I am not happy at all about it. I still have other weaknesses but I will on these two first. Thanks to d author of this book and to this organization, now I know the importance and the benefit of encouraging myself to read in order to acquire knowledge which will enable me to breakthrough my limitations and find fulfillment.
iii. Breakthrough
It was not surprising that Jonathan seagull was able to breakthrough and it is because he remained focused and determined. This have help me to realize that there is nothing that is impossible. I have being too pessimistic in nature. now I recently discovered that such attitude will hinder my breakthrough and because I want to achieve and breakthrough my limitations, am giving up doubts and fear , i am replacing it with hope and faith. Meaning I am learning what it takes breakthrough my limitations now. It is wonderful.
iv. To be different
Jonathan choose to be different other gulls when they were after food, he was after flight. It got to that he tried to fit in and behave like the rest of the gulls chasing after temporary matter. But he couldn’t fit in to their standard and way of life. When he finally discovered that he was different, he decided to stand out and because of his choice, he was made an outcast. Sincerely, I never choose to be different but u cannot help being different. And sometimes, I ask my this question- why can you be like Everyone and the only answer I was able to figure out was that am not everyone and just like Jonathan seagull I tried to fit in by doing what everyone expects me to do but I couldn’t keep up and so I quit. I decided to embrace my being different but unique in a way.
v. Do not belief what your eyes are telling you
This is statement is true because it only shows limitations. I can remember clearly that Chiang made that statement to Jonathan seagull when he was undergoing training.
I was asked to talk on a topic titled: “God’s grace lasts forever during the launching of my church harvest theme as at early this month.” Although I was not informed on time, but with d little time I had, I practiced. To cut the long story short, on that faithful day, I was nervous and I do have stage fright but I tried to calm myself down by admitting to it hoping that everything will be fine on stage. While on stage, my introduction was not really bad and so I judged that everything will be good. Immediately I sighted a friend of mine, I lost focus and I started running out of points. I tried to put myself together but it was not working. Eventually when I did put myself together, I have already lost the attention of my audience and the time was up. So I just quickly concluded my speech.
vi. I am ready
Jonathan was ready to learn, discover, fly and to love. And he taught me to be already at all times in order to attain perfection.
vii. Irresponsibility does not pay
Sometimes in life, you find yourself doing the right thing but others see you as being irresponsible. In the case of Jonathan seagull he was responsible. but to the elders, he was being irresponsible and this was because they were ignorant and refuse to accept the truth he brought. Moreover, it is true that irresponsibility does not pay and I have find myself in different occasions in that shoe. It really hurt a lot to be irresponsible most especially when time is involved. As a student one of the challenges am still facing still date is lateness. I am always late virtually everything except dinner and it piss me off because everyone is complaining. That’s not the kind of person I plan to become in life but here I am. It seems as if the effort am putting to ensure that have a proper time management is almost futile. the truth is that Jonathan seagull never gave up his desire to learn control and so I will keep on trying till I become punctual in everything I do.
3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?
I belief that these ideas will help me in my daily life and also in creating a better world through the following:
To always take responsibility for my actions.
To continue to do the right thing irrespective of others opinions.
To treasure every opportunity that I have to learn a new skill that can help me in a positive way.
To look beyond my limitations. (There is no limit.)
To be optimistic and consistent in everything.
These ideas that I have listed will help me develop my potentials that I can use to help myself and others to make the world a better place.
4. Quotes: Are they any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.
Yes, there statements which the author made that were important to me. And they include:
“Heaven is not a place, it is being perfect.”
This statement really got my attention because I thought heaven is a place but here it is statement other wise as being perfect. And it is indeed wonderful to know.
“Perfection does not have any limit.”
It will really be perfect because am tiring of being limited.
“Break the chains of your thought and you break the chains of your body too.”
The thought of every man is the dominating all other part. And if one can breakthrough his/her thought then you are victory. I really want that too and I know it wouldn’t easy but am ready to breakthrough.
“It always works when you know what you are doing.”
I am a living testimony to that statement.
“Find out what you already know and you see the way to fly.”
5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?
I don’t understand what made Chiang say that place and time are so meaningless and I will like to know where Chiang and Jonathan where going too after they disappeared.
6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?
No, it didn’t contain exercises to the reader to complete.
7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.
There is no comment because everything was covered in the previous questions.

PsychoCybernetics
Assessment by Onyema Augusta (Nigeria)
1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?
The main idea that the author is trying to convey is that: Self image is the real key to personality and behavior. It means when a man’s face is changed his future is almost invariably changed.
2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.
i. Beauty is more than skin deep
According to Maxwell, changing a man’s face, also changes the inner man. I have heard people saying- how beautiful or handsome an individual is. And then I taught about this deeply and I noticed that beauty is more than facial looks. It has a lot to do with the heart and even more. And still on my taught, i noticed that an individual might be facially cute but lack good morals and another might be morally good but lack facial looks. And this idea gave me a conclusion that No one is perfect but we make progress. Beauty is still what it is:- a combination of qualities that delights the senses and it enables us to achieve a lot in life both socially, academically, morally, and other wise. Also, it is very vital for everyone’s beauty to be attain and maintain. According to Maxwell, After- performing plastic surgery for certain individuals that he made mention in this book, they still felt disdained about their personality, behavior, their basic talents and abilities. Because, the inner man in them is yet to change. While reverse is the case of others. In conclusion, this idea is personally important to me because, I have come to the knowledge that self image is the real key to my personality and behavior in life. Which means that the way I see myself either positively or negatively will reflect in my personality and attitude towards I as an individual and others.
ii. The Face of Personality
Here he made mention of the “Face of personality”could be reconstructed if old emotional scar could be removed. Which is correct and true. To my understanding, the first step to take in regards to having a positive “Face of personality.” As explained by Maxwell is to get rid of old emotional scar by constructing new values that will help to ward it off and heal it. I used to be extremely shy most especially when I have to talk to a group of persons or in public, I feel intimidated and timid. It was really obvious in d manner I talk, walk and react to things. Until a day came that I took courage to make a U-turn in my life and I starting forcing myself to take active part in activities, involving myself in group of persons, I even took responsibilities in terms of motivating people, but before then a good friend told me that if I can motivate myself, then I can never motivate anyone in life. This impacted me forever and all this moves I made built me to this very stage of life I am now. In short it was helpful. So the key fact in this idea is to experience a positive change inside of you so as to have a good face of personality.
iii. Truth is where you find it.
This idea illustrated how Maxwell went to Germany in search of the truth “’Self Image.” There is adage that is “The truth shall set you free.” I was told that racing far distance causes Oxygen debt but I didn’t believe, until I experienced it. The truth is that experience is just like a teacher that will set an exam without notice and if you haven’t prepared, you are likely to fail that exam. My experience clarified the doubt and I was convinced of that fact because of my experience. Also, here is another experience that made me support Maxwell’s ideology. I and my cousins went outing and while having fun, there was a controversy and it wasn’t easy to resolve the issue since both sides felt right. The argument was on the right spelling of a word. I have forgotten the exact word but when the truth finally resurfaced, both were wrong and that was how the matter was resolved. when we ask for the right spelling, we were taught the spelling and with the right pronunciation of the word. So it is important to find and know the truth because it is a way to be knowledgeable and it helps to discover something entirely new.
iv. Experience is the secret.
The self image is changed, for better or worse, not by intellect alone, nor by intellectual knowledge alone, but by experiencing. Maxwell said that and I quote: “Experiencing information is active but acquiring information is passive. There is a huge difference between them. It is just like seeing the president of the united state,” by Donald Trump. Face to face and hearing about him from a friend. Also, it is just like you being present in the class during chemistry protocols, for example, how ethanoic acid and ethanol react to produce ethyl ethanoate and water which have a fruity smell. And you are absent during the practical and a friend is briefing you about it. No matter how hard you try, you wouldn’t get the full idea or else you go and experiment it. Take it or leave it. I have missed a practical on qualitative analysis and am still striving to assimilate it well till now, even after explanation. And ever since then i never miss any of my practical class. So Maxwell is right when he said that experience is the secret because it helps you to acquire information either passive or active that can help you in all aspects of life.
v. Discovering the success mechanism within you.
Maxwell said that when man constructs a goal striving mechanisms of his own, he had to discover and utilize certain basic principles. I can remember vividly, when I attended the youth camp of my church last year, I was privileged to be among the team captains of the groups in which we were divided into. We were asked to present a drama on the third day which seems as serious competition to me, since every team’s captain was working hard to present a standard drama. And because I wanted my team to emerge as the winner, I also had to come up with an idea that was totally different from others. Through the help of my team; their ideas and cooperation, we were able to give the judges our best for that days’ performance within a specific time frame. Finally, after much deliberations by the judges, they came to a conclusion- that we won for that days’ performance and we were rewarded for a work well done. When you discover the success mechanism within you, everything fall in place in your favor.
vi. A new concept of how your brain works.
The principles of cybernetics is applied to the human brain. The brain is just like the central processing unit, without it other mechanism like the control unit and the arithmetic and logical unit can not function. if a negative impulse is sent to the brain, the brain reaction such that the result is negative; and vice versa. I didn’t realize this new concept of how the brain works until when I was privileged to speak to a group of youths on the topic; “Rule your world.” At first, I never believe that I could do it. But after practicing with my mentor, he told me that I shouldn’t doubt my capabilities and on that note I believe that I could do it and I did presented the topic to the best of my knowledge of it.
vii. The answer exists now.
This idea is important to me because it has helped me realize that the answers to my questions is now. Here, Maxwell said- in much the same way, when we set out to find a new idea, or the answer to a problem, we must assume that the answer exists already- somewhere, and setout to find it. Last night I was studying a topic in chemistry and I wasn’t clear with the calculation aspect but after doing more exercises on it, I was able to understand the concept of the topic. So irrespective of the how the problems keeping pushing still you find the solution that my own version of Maxwell idea. Finally, I love the best image of all where Maxwell said let us not limit our acceptance of life by our own feelings of unworthiness.
3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world. If so, how?
These ideas will help me in my daily life and in creating a better world through the following ways:
To understand the benefit of having a positive self image.
To always seek and find the truth irrespective of where the truth may be.
To respond creatively to information.
To change my mindset being optimistic at all times.
To remove emotional scar in order to reconstruct a face of personality that will make me happy and fulfilled.
I believe that putting all these ideas to practice, I can help make the world a better place.
4. Quotes: Are they any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote the. And comment as to why they were important to you.

“Self image prescribes the area of the possible.”
“If you can remember worry or tie your shoe, you can succeed.”

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?
Yes the book does contains exercises for reader to complete. yes I am yet to do it but I will do it and I know it will be helpful.
7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so. Please comment.
I will like to commend on the writer’s vocabulary and his ideas are unique and wonderful. Although, it was not easy to get the main idea since every idea was interconnected.
But I was able to get the key idea he passed across because I read some chapters twice. I must say that Maxwell did a great job in his write up on this book; PsychoCybernetics.
Also, I will like to thank this outstanding organization for recommending this book to it’s student. I have really gain a lot from it more than what you can imagine and I am thankful for that privilege.

Keys to Success
Assessment by Onyema Augusta (Nigeria)
1. What is the true main idea the author is trying to convey in this book?
The main idea the author is conveying is the ability to develop a definiteness of purpose which encourage you to specialize, and specialization leads to perfection. Your keys to success in life will depend a great deal on your ability to know much about a specific area and to perform exceptionally within it.
2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List the seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to your own life. Use your personal examples from your own life.
i. Building a positive mental attitude
Here Napoleon Hill’s explain the importance of discipline. He said and I quote, discipline your mind to shape your destiny towards whatever purpose in life you have chosen. I never thought of how discipline in all aspect in life could be very important, until now. It could help you develop a positive mental attitude, which makes you believe in the existence of infinite intelligence, which makes it possible for you to draw on all the power you need to take possession of your own mind and direct it towards whatever you choose.
ii. Tact
Here he explained it as doing and saying the right thing at the right moment. Then he went further to explain some tact like the “Habit of Smiling” and “Facial expression.” I use to find it very difficult passing my message through facial expression and sometimes, My friends laugh at me because it seems like when giving a speech or proclaiming the word of God at the pulpit I always got the wrong facial expression and on a long run, my message is not fully passed across. But after reading Napoleon Hill’s on Keys to success, I realize that it is a tact I need to practice on a regular basis and it goes along side with the Habit of smiling.
iii. Forming a master mind alliance
I did not know how this could be very important on the road to success until Napoleon Hills listed some individuals like Milo.C.Jones, and how it has tremendously worked for them. He explained the importance of forming such alliance with yourself and how it can help you form it with other people around you. Furthermore, he listed who and the qualities such an individual is expected to possess before forming a mastermind alliance with him or her. Believe me, it was explanatory because, he stop at nothing to expand his idea in such away that even a lame man can read and understand. And now, I know the importance and how to use it to my own benefit and to that of others.
iv. Sleep
Here he explained how it’s helps the mind to relax, and it benefit to the health. He also went further to discuss the danger of neglecting this natural stress remover called “Sleep.” I do think going the extra mile means you have to deny yourself most times to take a nap even when your body system needs it at that moment. And often, I will force myself even when my head aches terribly to read, see a movie or write quotes, all in the name of going the extra mile. But now, I got the lucid idea of both, that is going the extra mile and the quality of a good sleep. Napoleon Hill’s made it self explanatory and he show how both of them work hand in hand. And now to my own understanding, I can say having a good sleep helps you stay fit and healthy to go the extra mile.
v. Exercise
Napoleon Hills said and I quote; exercise can be a tremendous mental and physical stimulant, clearing away sluggishness. I vividly remember that my elder sister do make jest of me anytime i am exercising because I have a slim physique and she will say and I quote; why are you exercising when you have no fat to burn. And because of her statement, I stop exercising often. Even to the fact that I get affected by the slightest breeze. Now, I know i got it all wrong, thanks to Napoleon Hills. Exercise helps you mentally, physically, and other wise. And trying to keep yourself fit at all times even at the expense of loosing more weight that you do not have, does not make you any less better than someone who does not do exercise; rather it makes you more better, healthier, and happier than ever.
vi. Sex
What drew my attention to this idea was when he said: sex is a natural desire; Do not fear or deny it but realize that you must direct it, like all desires to definite ends instead of letting it become an end in itself. And he went further, that I underlined, because it sounded like a warming or will I say safety precaution. He said and I quote; if sex is all you want, you will do anything to get it, forgetting your faith in yourself, your definite purpose and your moral standard. When I finish reading this, my mind flashed back to series of events I had encountered with different individuals on this word “Sex.” Some where like an adviser while others were true life story of their past experience and how it has affected them negatively. But I see myself privilege, to share in their story and it also teaches me to guard my desires so that I can also benefit from the creative power of sex by directing it like all other desires to a definite end.
vii. Cosmic Habit Force
This one is noted because it is just like a summary to all the wonderful and useful ideas of Napoleon Hills. Definiteness of purpose backed by the power of cosmic habit force and enforced by self discipline and personal initiative can bring you to the circumstance you want which is true and the summary of keys to success.
3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so how?
These ideas have helped me and will continue to help me in my daily life and in the world at large through the following ways:
Build a definiteness of purpose in life; personal initiative.
Always stay focus with a smile on my face when the going gets tough.
Believe in myself and use the power of imagination to turn my dreams to reality.
Be careful with my enthusiasm.
To be timely and resourceful
To understand that there are a lot to know and i need to fuel my desire to tap into infinite intelligence. In fact how Napoleon Hills have help me through his ideology is endless and there is a saying that once a person is affected; the world is affected in this term positively. I am glad that I read this book even when on the long run, I delayed or procrastinated. But I am glad I finish it. Also, I will share this book and it’s idea to individuals in so many ways and will also advise them to read it. Moreover, passing worthwhile information helps in making the world a better place and that’s what I will do.
4. Quotes: Are they any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.
“Wishes are often fathers to popularly accepted fact.”
“Success attracts success while failure attracts failure.”
“It’s one thing to cast your bread upon the water, It’s another to pretend not to notice when it just comes back wet and soggy.”
“Where faith is the guide the individual cannot lose his way.”

“Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”
“Treat other people precisely as you wish them to treat you.”
“Tell me how you use time and how you spend your money, and I will tell you where and what you will be ten years from now.”
They are all important to me because they make sense.

Success through a Positive Mental Attitude
Assessment by Onyema Augusta (Nigeria)
1. What is the main idea the writer is trying to convey in the book?
According to my perspective, the main idea the writer is conveying is that success through a positive mental attitude begins from meeting the most important living person, which is You. Before nagivating with a positive mental attitude through the road of success.
2. What are the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use your personal example from your own life.
i. Meet the most important living person
Lately, I had the privilege to discover that the most important living person is I and it was due to an experience that almost ruin my life, dream, and future but grace intervene on my behalf and put me on the path of right. It was then I realize it. Here Napoleon Hills explained in detail how every individual carry with him/her an emblazoned of positive mental attitude on one side and negative mental attitude on the other side. This invisible tail man has two amazing powers either to attract health, wealth, peace or to repel it. I was almost rob off of these virtues not until I was given a second chance to re-branch and modify my thought, life and principles. And now, am more keen to attract good things of life.
ii. Thoughts to steer by:
One of which he said you are a mind with a body. Your brain is a mechanism that is an electrical marvel, in the sense that it react to any idea either positive or negative depending on what it is fed with. Knowing this, I have learnt to use the self suggestion like I am Getting Better Day by Day, I am smart and so on whenever my tailsman changes to negative. And it has been helpful although it has not been easy trying to stay positive. Most times it seems like i have to fight seriously to stay in control and make the right decision but by God’s grace we are making headway.
iii. And Something More
Here he said have you sincerely tried and still failed? Perhaps you failed because there was something more to bring you the success you are seeking and he went further in saying that a negative mental attitude is one of the primary causes of failures. This idea is one of a kind because it made me realize that all this while i have been so negative to the point that i find it so difficult to live my life and start over again, after several failures. But now, i am more willing to keep on trying like Thomas Edison with positive mental attitude until i achieve my dream.
iv. The Secret of Getting Things Done
Here he explained it as to act; The self-starter is the self-motivator in getting things done. Procreation has been one of my weaknesses, I usually tell myself. “I will do this tomorrow and that is how I keep on procrastinating until I read Success through a positive mental attitude by Napoleon Hill. Sincerely I am grateful for this idea because it has shown me the best way out of this negative attitude by getting things done instantly and it has been really helpful.
v. Motivation
He defined motivation as that which induces action or determines choice. It is that which provides a motive. What got my attention was how he explained the means of motivating yourself and others as when you know that which can motivate you, then you can now motivate others vice versa. And he went further to list the seven virtues that have help noble men like Franklin Benjamin build up high standards. In conclusion, To my level of understanding Napoleon Hills is saying that motivating yourself and others goes hand in hand. It all means that when i try to encourage others and motivate them towards getting the best out of life, then I am motivating myself vice versa.
vi. Mental Attitude Makes the Difference
This idea made a huge difference in me. I love the observation he made about those who finds satisfaction in their work and those who don’t. He said and I quote; Happy people control their mental attitude. They take a positive view of their situation and now I am learning to see things from that angle. Most especially since i have known a little of the biography of Jerry Asam, I am more willing to be positive, discipline and hardworking despite all odds. Since I have nothing to lose, everything to gain, then it is worth trying relentlessly until the result comes out the best.
vii. How to Find Satisfaction in your Job
Here he said and I quote; you are more apt to find satisfaction in your job if you do “what comes naturally” that for which you have a natural aptitude or liking. He went further to talk about Jerry Asam who work as a sale manager for the Hawaiian officer of a large organization and how he love his job for he knew it so well and he was proficient in it.
I could remember vividly when i started working as the secretary of my church. One of major challenge was how to relate with people of different personality. At first, I tried pleasing everyone but it didn’t work out. Then i realize that all i need to do was to be myself and then it did work out because my personality attract and repel depending on the initiative. In short, it was fun and I enjoyed my experience in learning to build myself on discipline, perseverance, tolerance, and so on during my stay there.
3. How would this idea help you in a practical ways both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world. If so, how?

The purpose of living and how to turn your desire into a magnificent obsession.
I am gradually learning to be in control of my mind and it feels wonderful.
Finally, the feeling of striving to get better on a daily basis which is called inspirational dissatisfaction have consumed me after reading this book. Indeed i have learn more than what I have written down but I have Jotted them down somewhere else and I will always reflect on it. How to Win Friends and Influence People
Assessment by Onyema Augusta (Nigeria)
1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in this book?
The key fact the writer is conveying according to my perspective is that, the only way on earth to influence other people is to talk about want and show them how to get it.
2. What were the seven Ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven Ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.
The seven Ideas which are important to me include:
i. Become genuinely interested in other people
This idea is worthwhile to I. This is because I had an experience that almost robbed me off my personality. It was not easy, during this moment I suffered depression and view myself differently, but later realize it was a stepping stone towards becoming a better me. That was what made a huge difference.
ii. Smile
Here he said-your smile is a messenger of your goodwill. Your smile brightens the lives of all who see it. Honesty, I found it very difficult to smile again after a heart broken experience but just like the old saying, Time heals wound and I am gradually smiling again and it feels good.
iii. Make the other person feel important and do it really sincerely
I have done it countlessly and it really helps in bring out the best in people.
iv. Talk in terms of other people or person’s interest
It is true when he said that people are interested in themselves morning, afternoon, and evening. But this idea is not applicable to all situation of life, because not all interest are good and some might even be contrary to the law of God and of man. It is more applicable in business.
v. You can not win an argument
Here he said the only way under high heaven to get the best of an argument is to avoid it. Avoid it as you would avoid rattlesnakes and earthquakes. I can remember vividly that I love getting into a serious argument with my neighbors about religion, family and the likes. But never for once have I felt happy about it. Because, it is either am on the loosing team or I have to keep proving myself right. I felt tiresome of it and then gave up the argument. So Dale Carnegie was actually right about this idea because the more you talk, the more you are likely to talk out of sense and you will also lose calories. So what is the need of getting into an argument. It is just pointless and aimless.
vi. How to spur people on to success
“Let us praise even the slightest improvement.” That inspires the other person to keep on improving. But when praise is specific, It comes across as sincere not something the other person may be saying just to make one feel good. Talk about changing people. If you and I will inspire the people with whom we come in contact to a realization of the hidden treasures they possess, we can do far more than change people. We can literally transform them. I could remember vividly, that my aunt criticized every effort her children make on improvement. She often compares them with others, without giving them reason to act. But she did not know that she was spurring the worse in them. Until I came around and started praising every effort they make on a daily basis that was when she corrected her actions and that was what made the difference in their lives. So, Dale Carnegie was right when he said that praises makes a positive change in people than criticism.
vii. Making people glad to do what you want
This idea is very important to me because I like making people do what I want but the thing is that, I do it either by an order or being bossy and never for once had it help. Dale Carnegie really made it lucid and gave a simple way in applying this principle when he made mention of Dale O. Ferrier of Fort Wayne Indiana, and how he encouraged one of his young children to willingly do the chores he was assigned. With this illustration, I am able to understand this idea and more willingly to start applying it when the need arises.
3. How would this Idea help you on a practical way both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?
These ideas will help me both on a daily basis and in creating a better world through the following ways:
In helping bringing out the best in others.
By putting them to practice at any given opportunity.
By referring to them, when I am tempted to do something drastic.
By sharing these Ideas with others
Finally, by not giving up on them, that is by trying relentlessly in it application.
4. Quotes: Are they any statements which the authors made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.
The quotes that actually caught my attention are as follows:
“Men must be taught as if you taught them not and things unknown proposed as things forgot.”
“You cannot teach a man anything, you can only help him to find it within himself.”
“Be wiser than other people, if you can but do not tell them so.”
“One thing only I know and that is I know nothing.”
5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about? Or are there ideas which you disagree and if so, why?
There are some ideas that were not understood because of it application works because I have applied it and the result was abortive.
6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?
Yes the book contained exercises for the reader to complete and it was helpful.
7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment?

He went further to say that only those who learn the power of sincere contribution experience life with joy and true fulfillment. Moreover, he said life is a balance between giving and taking. Do not try to be Perfect just try to be a good example of a human.
I so much love this side because of how it relates it to life and this is the first time, I am hearing something like this about life. Indeed I am impressed with the content of this book but in particular this idea because it is different from the usually expression of life. Seeing life as a gift is something I am used to but I think the key point that I am missing out is being a good example of a human and not trying to be Perfect. I often complain when people misuse, misplace, or even mistake my properties. Most times, I get grumpy without realizing that I have being in similar situation but treated nicely by others. So,
Robbb in was right when. He said, “that understanding that being a Good
Human is a key to perfection and not the other way around.
ii. Stay Clearly on What You Truly Want
Here said that most people focus on what they do not want and that’s what they achieve. But in my own perspective, it is not truly applicable to all areas of life. Staying focus on what you truly want is wonderful but what about the things you don’t truly want what become of them. Negativity is another side of man and sometimes one is not even conscious enough when it (Negativity) creeps into the big dream. But I feel marking out a daily routine and strategy will help me with regards to this idea.
iii. Get Leverage on Yourself
This is the answer to my problem to the second Idea. Here he went further to say “Make Change a Must.” Honestly that’s the only solution to negativity and I know it won’t bee easy at first but consistency and conscious effort will make it better to focus on the Big
Dream.
iv. Interrupt your Old Limiting Pattern
This sound interesting when he said, “Break the habit hold on you.” At some point when he was expanding on this idea, I discovered that it was and advise and immediately, I think I do it and in fact I can see the difference between before and after reading this book. There have being a remarkable change since I made this idea part of my philosophy and the other procedures which includes create a new empowering alternative to your old pattern, condition it and test it have being truly helpful.
v. The Vocabulary of Success
This idea is unique and have a lot of life transforming messages in it. Here Robbins said, that “Power of transformation of vocabulary and globe mentoring helps you to adjust your habitual vocabulary making continuous proclamation of things you ant and see happen in your Life. This is true and I am witness to this life transforming idea. It helps you make use of auto-suggestion and I do that every morning by speaking positive words to my self and my activities daily, before stepping out for the daily task and it has been fulfilling.
vi. How to use your Action Signals
The question is what is the best way to deal with negative emotions. He went on to say that to deal with negative emotions you have to transform those negative emotions by dealing effectively with them. Simply look for solutions and learn to use those negative emotions to enhance your life positively. He further listed and explained steps on how to use your negative motions to enhance your life positively and they include:
Identify what you are really feeling.
Acknowledge and appreciate your negative emotions knowing that at some
Level they are supporting you by giving you A Call to Action!
Get confident, excited and strategize to change.
Model your own successful action from the past uncomfortable emotions like nagging, distress, boredom, impatience, unnecessary embarrassment.
These are all sending you a signal that something is not just right. All of these
Steps have been impactful and beneficial to me. At first it was difficult to acknowledge
and appreciate my negative emotions. Often times, I was on hard on myself and demanded immediate change with the help of Giant Steps I have learned to be patient with myself because Change is a gradual process and because of God all things are possible. Knowing this has made me make adjustments and I am very happy now that I am making progress.
vii. Five Keys to Financial Mastery
Here he was specific on how to increase one’s income. Here five keys to financial mastery as the ability to make increase in one’s resources at least 10 to 15 minutes
extra before expenditure. That way you will increase your level of income and maintain
your wealth. He asked this question: “In what can you cut costs? The answers are listed and explained below:
MaintainYourWealth: Spend less Money.
IncreaseYour Wealth and Protect It.
Enjoy your Wealth Occasionally and consider the Power of Tithing.
The part I love about this idea was the lesson behind it when he said, “in reality, money has no value unless we share it with people around us that way, we add
Joy to our Joy.”
This is one of the books that I will store in my library as a priceless jewel because the l
the lessons and ideas are irreplaceable, very impactful and fulfilling when taken seriously.
3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping to create a better world? If so, how?
These lessons have helped me and it is still helping me in a way I can’t imagine. In my daily personal life, I have practice this lessons and they are helping me find fulfillment in my daily tasks in the following ways:
To use my negative emotions as my strongest ally to enhance positive grow than development. To make the things I want so compelling that I am willingly to overcome my fears of lost, take the risks and steps necessary to make my life beautiful. To know that one of the most important things in life is to have a sense of direction. To understand that pain can be my friend If I use it effectively.
Finally, I have come to believe that change starts from I knowing that I should be the change I want to see in others. This information is helping me influence people around positively. Creating your Path through Leadership
Assessment by Onyema Chiemeka Augusta (Nigeria)
1. The main idea the author is conveying in this book?
The main idea the author is conveying is that of peace building and insight in leadership through continuous study to greatness, taking responsibilities and hard work for an unending success of ones goals and aspiration.
2. What were the seven ideas which were personally important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.
i. As a Man Thinketh
According to Felix Iziomoh while emphasizing on, “A Perfect Timing,” one have to change his or herself first before changing the world. I have come to discover that the mind of a man is very powerful and it can become productive to him if he feeds it with the right resources. This knowledge have given me a positive mental attitude towards life and to see every challenge as an opportunity to discover possible solutions to build on my personality and character.
ii. Discovering your Leadership Potential
The Intentionality of an individual in discovering his or her leadership potential is very paramount in creating his or her path through leadership. According to Noeline Kirabo(Uganda), “being intentional means seeing the challenges that oppress people and making a commitment to go all the way in discovering and providing viable solutions.”
I have my own share in this her idea. The thought of always feeling the need to alleviate poverty in the life of people around my jurisdiction encourage me to Joining this Organization and this is now leading me to discover more about my potential, utilize it and provide support to the People within and beyond my reach.
iii. The Power of Effective Communication
According to Ethelbert Obinna Umeh (Nigeria), “Effective Communication is not just a learned skill, it is also an art, just perfected and fine-tuned over time. Goal- Oriented people use it to accelerate their personality and professional growth.” In fact, he said “effective communication is a key to success and it enhances interpersonal relationship.”
This idea is True and can be trusted because communication is one of the tools we use daily and knowing the right word to converse distinguish you from others and gives you an edge over others . Let’s take for instance, if a person is desperately in need of a Job opportunity in a prominent firm. One of the things the board of directors will put into consideration aside from his or her educational qualification, is the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in the office. That is the Communication Skills of that individual. In my view, Effective Communication is an important key in creating your path through leadership because No community, trace, or country can survive without valuable information which is passed as a result of communication.
iv. Leadership Concepts
People have a wrong conception about leadership. they see leadership as a means to exploit and take advantage of others when actually it is a platform where an individual comes into “To be a Servant to see the Servant of All. By being a follower first before maximizing leadership position to restore balance to the world in which he or she finds his or herself. According to Ziyad R.Abdule on Leadership Concepts, he said and I quote; “Leadership is not easy and there is no easy path to becoming an effective leader. It entails a happy someone who has the desire, training and circumstances to lead, with a group of people that requires Leadership and it can happen anywhere and anytime.
v. Welcome Tomorrow
Here Solomon laid emphasis on the power of imagination for one to live above one’s peers. He explained further by saying that; “Do you know that your ability to imagine is perhaps the most powerful potential that you possess as a human?” Also, he said that “your imagination can give you whatever you want from life. This Ideology is interesting and can be practicalize.”
I sure know that there is a power in imagination just as Sir Solomon said but the ability to utilize the power to bring every dream into reality is a struggle for me but after reading his storyline, I am encourage to stir up the waters and turn every dream of mine into reality. And this Idea reminds me of the old quote “To desire is to achieve, to aspire is to obtain.”
vi. Conscious Decision Making
This idea by Osayi Ujunwa Lynda has an un-denying Truth in it. Decision making is one of the major challenges I am facing. I struggle to make decision in most of things in life. And most times, I react on impulse. After studying this idea, I have made up my mind to be intentional about making decisions and be responsible enough to face the aftermath since not making decisions is a Decision in itself. This idea has also enlightened me on the necessary steps towards decision making and I am very happy to try them out and see the possible outcome which I believe will be positive.
vii. A long walk to transformation
In Aloys Hakizimana (Rwanda) writing; he said something that sounded interesting to me while explaining pessimistic state of mind. He said; “If you are pessimistic and things turn wrong, you are not deceived simply because you were not expecting better.” But “If you are optimistic and events turn the wrong way, you are disappointed. This is truely remarkable and as well as other ideas like “the seed of IIGL Studies, Breaking the chains, managing losses and conclusion, were he laid emphasis on the benefits of joining International Institute For Global Leadership.” This idea have kept me hopeful and positive to my goals and aspiration in life believing that whatever I desire with a positive mental attitude, I can achieve and whatever I aspire; I can definitely obtain by the grace of God Almighty. Amen!

Maximum Achievement
Assessment by Onyema Chiemeka Augusta (Nigeria)
1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?
The author explains maximum achievement as the system that gives one the combination to the locks in virtually every area of one’s life. As I reflect on the teachings on Brian Tracy and the principles of maximum achievement, I remembered that leadership is not just about making a lasting impact but inspiring others to do the same through dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to personal and professional growth. We can all strive towards maximum achievement in our leadership Journey.
2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.
The seven ideas which are very much important to me includes:
i. Make your life a masterpiece
One of the ways of making your life a master piece is by having and sustaining peace of mind. It is the internal gyroscope and secret of having a perfectly balanced life.
No wonder when Jesus Christ said when he was left the earth, “my peace I give you, my peace I leave with you”. This idea is very important and can not be over ruled in one’s everyday life. It is the peace of mind that allows every other virtues you have inculcated in time to fully find expesssion. If one looses his or her peace then the storms of life will throw that person off balance. To maintain a good and healthy lifestyle, it is very necessary you protect and cherish your peace of mind more than anything including wealth.
ii. Financial freedom
To be financially free means that you have enough money so that you don’t worry about it continually, as most people do . The truth is that getting financial freedom is essential in enjoying life in
peace and fulfillment. Having to depend on others for necessities as a result of financial slavery could be so alarming and frustrating. Everyone should struggle and work hard to be free from debt, lack, poverty, worry and have a stable flow of income.
iii. Multidimensional mind:
Your mind is like a central processing unit in a large computer network. Your subconscious mind is your central processing unit. Your main Job in achieving any goal is to reprogram this unit so that what you think, feel and believe becomes the mental equivalent of exactly what you want to experience and enjoy. The mind is so power that it can create your dreams or fears as your reality. This idea is very crucial and it’s expedient that we guard what goes in and out of our mind.
iv. The law of expectations:
The law of expectations says that whatever you expect with confidence becomes your own self fulfilling prophecy. Here Brain emphasize on the fact of belief system where your expectations create a major in your reality. If the expectation you imagine, profess positive or negative then it becomes a reality. With this idea, I have learnt that it’s very possible to project positive things to yourself by simply applying the law of expectations with conviction that it will work for your good.
v. The law of attraction:
The law of attraction states, you are a living magnet. As long as you are clear about what you want and the kind of people you want to be associated with, you will draw them into your life. The law of attraction is neutral . It can help you or hurt you. Actually this law could be considered a variation of the law of cause and effect, or sowing and reaping.
vi. The law of correspondence:
It says that your outer world is a reflection of your inner world. This law declares that you can tell what’s going on inside you by looking at what is going on around you. The way people respond and react to you will reflect your attitude and your behavior towards them. This ideology is very true as the scriptures confirm this saying; it is not what goes into a man that defines him, it’s what comes out of him. This shows the importance of guarding one’s heart with all diligence because out of it produce issues pertaining to life.
vii.The law of substitution:
This is one of the most important of all the mental laws. It’s an extension of the law of control. It states that your conscious mind can hold only one thought at a time, and that you can substitute one thought for another. The law of concentration states that whatever you dwell upon, grows. The more you think about something, the more it becomes part of your reality. I have struggled greatly to concentrate on things. I see my thought scattered here and there but now I see things from a different light that it’s very possible to focus on one thing, get it done before moving to the next on the list. I have decided to achieve it.
3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world. If so, how?
It will help me create a schedule list for effective time management.
To prepare myself ahead for any given opportunity to greatness.
To be hardworking and zealous until the work is done.
The chapters and lessons are design to empower me with the tools I need to take complete control of my life, and for these tools to work, I must practice them.
To be intentional about financial freedom
To be deliberate about giving back to the society too in any possible way.
To work on my character and attitude in order to become a good parent to my children.
4. Quotes: Are they any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.
“Mastering the art of parenting.”
“The secret of the ages.”
“You are locked in place at your current level of knowledge and skill.”
“Do what you can, with what you have right where you are.”
“Whatsoever a man soweth, that also shall he reap.”
