Amaugo Blessing Chidimma – Assessments

As a Man Thinketh
Assessment by Amaugo Blessing Chidimma (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The author was trying to convey message on thoughts and character, he is saying that thought and character are one and a persons character can manifest and discover itself base on the circumstances surrounding him. That is to say that the physical condition of an individual can related base on what is in his inner mind. But that doesn’t mean that a man’s circumstance at any given time displays his entire thought. But those circumstances have a connection on his vital thoughts within a period of time. He also thinks that if a man could change their perspectives of life by recognizing there creative power and work on it, they will do might things Also every thought seed sown or allowed to fall into the mind and to taken there produces its own blossoming sooner or later into an act, and it has its own fruits of opportunity and circumstance. So whether good or bad thoughts have its own fruits. The outer world experience shapes itself to inner world of thoughts .so whether negative or positive condition; they are factors which are meant for untimely good for the individual. Circumstance does not make a man it reveals a man to himself.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. Progressive and Evolving Man

As a progressive and evolving being man is where he is, that he may learn, that he may grow and as he learns the spiritual lesson where any circumstance contains for him, it passes away and gives place to other circumstance. That is to say when we fail to learn that which we are suppose to learn or when we also learn but learn the wrong thing it becomes a problem so is either we struck in that particular circumstances or we carry the wrong idea to the other circumstances .Because we are surrounded by circumstances which we are meant to grow and learn from it.

ii. Thought and Character

Of all the beautiful truths pertaining to the soul which have been restored and brought to light in this age, none is more gladdening or fruitful of divine promise and confidence than this; that humans are the master of thought, the molder of character, and the maker and shaper of condition, environment, and destiny. As beings of Power, Intelligence, and Love, and the Lord of his own thoughts, humans hold the key to every situation, and contains within themselves that transforming and regenerative agency by which they may make themselves what they will.

iii. Humankind

Humankind is always the master, even in their weaker and most abandoned state; but in their weakness and degradation they are the foolish masters who misgovern their “household.” When they begin to reflect upon their condition, and to search diligently for the Law upon which their being is established, they then becomes the wise master directing their energies with intelligence, and fashioning their thoughts to fruitful issues. Such is the conscious master, and humans can only thus become by discovering the laws of thought; which discovery is totally a matter of application, self analysis and experience.

iv. Improvement

Men are anxious to improve their circumstances but are willing to improve themselves they therefore remain bound. When we want to get rid of some circumstances but we are not putting the right attitude to it; it will not leave us. When we want change our circumstances we have to follow the right principle to be able to achieve when we fail to use the right principle we and up achieving the wrong result

v. Suffering

It’s always the effect of wrong thoughts in some direction It is an indication that the individual is out of harmony with himself, with the Law of his being. The sole use of suffering in this context is to purify, to burn out all that is useless and impure. Suffering ceases for him who is pure. There could be no object in burning gold after the dross had been removed, and a perfectly pure and enlightened being could not suffer .The circumstances, which encounters man with suffering, are the result of the individuals own mental in harmony. The circumstances, which a man encounters with blessedness are the result of his own mental in harmony. Blessedness, not material possessions, is the measure of right thought.

vi. Accepting Failure

A man only begins to a man when he ceases to whine and revile and commences to search for the hidden justice which regulates his life. If we accept our mistakes, failure and responsibility without trying shift them and look for possible ways to come out of it ,buildup our self in strong and noble thoughts .And also cease to kick or avoid his circumstance but use them as a aids to his more rapid progress and discover.

vii. Disease and health

Like circumstances are rooted in thoughts; sickly thoughts will express themselves through a sickly body. Thoughts of fear have been known to kill a man as speedily as a bullet and have continually killing thoughts of people .When you become afraid of a particular thing or disease whether you have it or not, you will always live in torture until you take your stand against it. Let’s possess a strong ,pure and happy thoughts that will build up the body in grace vigor.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

The weakest soul knowing its own weakness and believing this truth that strength can only be develop by effort and practice ,exert itself and adding effort patience ,and strength to strength will never cease to develop and will at last grow divinely strong.
As the physical weak man can make himself strong by careful and patient training , so the man of weak thought can make strong by exercising himself in right thin\king . To put away aimlessness and weakness and to begin to think with purpose is to enter the ranks as one of the pathways to attainment. Who makes all condition sever them and who think strongly attempt fearless and accomplish masterfully. It ha helped me put doubts and fears away from my path believing that if I can dream and think I will surely do because a strong thoughts can cease when fears and doubts creep in. He who has conquered doubts and fears has conquered failure.

“He who would accomplish little must sacrifice little; he would achieve must sacrifice much ; he who would attain highly must sacrifice greatly. If we want to get the best result in life we should put in that which you get.”

“Keep your hand firmly upon the helm of thought .In the bark of your soul redlines the commanding master. We should always be focused in whatever we are doing never to sight and vision in life.”

Without self-control a leader can not lead right. Right thought is mastery calmness the way you think that’s way your act so right thinking helps the leader to reason well and . The book has changed my thinking and attitude towards life. Jonathan Livingston Seagull
Assessment by Amaugo Blessing Chidimma (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The author was trying to emphasis on hard work, determination endurance. Hard work pays and determination so we should never do away with all these because the key to success. We should not be dismayed when see our self in some circumstances, we should try to make the best out it and turn the negativity into positivity. Always look at beautiful side of circumstance .Also anything that limits us we have to put aside. The author was saying that we should not depend on our friendship on space and time cause when you meet that person again you may not have the courage to face the person. He also laid emphases on courage, persistence and patience. Also we should always be eager to give a helping hand to people in there difficult situation. We should express our freedom as living creatures so as not to allow anything to be a barrier.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. “Break the chains of your thoughts you will break the chains of your today too. Don’t allow anything to you because it starts from in your mind. We’re free to go where we wish and to be what we are.”

That freedom is the very nature of being, that whatever stands against that freedom must be set aside it ritual or superstition or limitation in any form .we should try and overcome all obstacles that are standing on our way of freedom .The only true law is that which leads to freedom.

ii. Practice feeling special and gifted.

The only thing that makes people special and gifted and driven is when we begin to understand what they really are and have and begin to practice it.

iii. Fear and limitations

Once we release who we are and work towards it we have conquered the fear in us and the limitations. The words are not looking on what you are doing but results.

iv. Love

Oh fletch ,you don’t love that you don’t love hatred and evil, of course, you have to practice and see the real gull, the good in every one of them and help them see it in themselves. That is what I call love. Believing in people in actualizing their dreams should be our utmost concern to help people dream to grow. Love people no matter what they have done.

v. Forgiveness

“In the middle of here and now, don’t you think that we might see each other once or twice? Forgive them and help them to understand.” We should always think twice before taking a action cause no body knows tomorrow and what it will bring. Lets learn to forgive people accept them the way they are.

vi. Direction

Try and build heaven and lead people to that direction. When you correct your mistakes and make it better you get to carry people who found there selves in the same direction.
Nothing shapes life more than the commitment you chose to make. We become of what you are committed bitterness to in life. We refuse to make commitment in what we are doing we cant achieve anything positive at all until we commit our self in vision there will be no result.

vii. Belief

Every behavior is motivated by a belief and every action is prompted by attitude. They way we act shows the kind of training we received. We act at times base on our beliefs our culture and traditions.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

The three great essential to achieve any work worth while are: hard work; stick to activeness and common sense. In life I have learned that who we are is not determined by how we work; where we live; whom our parents are but by a function of specific choices that we have made. We are where we are and what we are because of the dominating thoughts we have made .Cause our thoughts determines our reason, action and behavior.

My failures taught me something invaluable about myself cause in every adversity there is a seed of equivalent or greater benefit. For if you believe it, look for it and work for it just like the seagull. According to Robins Sharma, he said, “that everyone is influencing the people around them in one way or the other. It is imperative that we recognize our needs to others in order to be successful self discipline makes ever other things possible.” I stayed away from negative people because they have problems for every solution. Also discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. So we should not live in the shadows of peoples’ judgment. Make your own choices in the light of your own wisdom. If we try to live in people opinion and judgment we will make a lot of mistakes and will also fall in wrong directions. When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, rather adjust your actions step, when the goals are adjusted there will not be a good results or outcome. He said that there is no chain of disaster that will not come to and end. If you want something you have to develop you have to be creative. He also said that if we love someone we should be patient with them and also it should not be limited by time and space. Nothing should ever hold a man back from his future.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

“How much more there is now to living! Instead of our drab slogging forth and back to the fishing boats, there’s a reason to life! We can lift ourselves out of ignorance, we can find ourselves as creatures of excellence and intelligence and skill. We can be free! We can learn to fly!”

For us to be free from ignorance we have to change our thinking mentality and release that we are creatures that was created with a purpose and vision. Lets us begin each day with a purpose.

“I don’t mind being bone and feathers mom. I just want to know what I can do in the air and what I can’t, that’s all. I just want to know.”

“We should not be struck by any limitations at all no matter the environment lets always think positive of our self and also break any limitations .cause a journey to success starts with a step.”

Jonathan Seagull discovered that boredom and fear and anger are the reasons that a gull’s life is so short, and with these gone from his thought, he lived a long fine life indeed.

“We don’t expect a free life if we are not free with our self. If we remove anger, bitterness and fear we will live a long life and as human beings. Let us remove every fear in us that is pushing us back.”

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

Everything is cleared and well explained.

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

There were no exercises.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

All questions were duly covered in this book. Always carry the people that are following you alone. Never look down on any one no matter the position you may be.
As a leader always see yourself as a servant not as a boss, always be humble. Be ready to teach others what have learned for that knowledge to grow verse. Be ready to suffer humiliation but the ability to overlook makes you a selfless leader. We should not be limited by any anything at all in life nothing should holds us down . We should not also be afraid to show the people the truth no matter what it takes. I learned to demonstrate love no the circumstances. We should always give people room to make there own discovery about let not pin people down against there with or desire.

Keys to Success
Assessment by Blessing Chidimma Amaugo (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The author was trying to convey a message on ways to attain success and how they are interrelated to each other. Definiteness of purpose makes you aware of opportunities related to your major purpose and it inspires the courage to act on them. Definiteness of purpose acts as a key magnet to attract to you the specialized knowledge necessary for success. Definiteness of purpose is the starting point of all achievement, and its lack is the stumbling block of ninety-eight out of every hundred people simply because they never really define their goals and start toward them.

He said that no one has attained an outstanding success in everything without applying the mastermind alliance with people cause no mind is complete by its self. The harmony of your alliance is built upon the mutual agreement on your definite the mutual agreement on your definite purpose. Building a positive mental attitude is part of other aspect of an attractive personality. Having a attractive personality demonstrate the self-awareness born of your positive mental attitude and projects the worthiness of your goals and proposal .He also mentioned that when your mind is on definiteness of purpose, you are in a condition to start having faith. And when you have faith, you can act upon infinite intelligence to apply it. Faith exists as long as it used.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. A positive mental attitude is the single most important principle of the science of success .

If you don’t have good attitude towards something you will never achieve it no matter what you. If we recognize that your mental attitude is the only thing over which you and only you have complete control you will know to handle it. We should understand what ever whips you away isn’t defeat but your positive mental attitude toward it.

ii. Failures from the past.

Learn to close the door of your mind on failures from the past, clean your mind of any influence which does not support a positive mental attitude. if we are not careful with it , it will rip us of our future .this idea is most important to me because most at times in my life I try to remember my failures the things I did not right but this idea I have learned to forgery ahead And use it as a stepping stone.

iii. Failures and pain are one language through which nature speaks to living creature, pointing our mistakes

You become humble so that you can acquire wisdom and understanding .I believe that if there is no cross there is no glory. Pain and failures bring out the best in us because is there that we realize how weak we have been. Most of my best moves is gotten when I have failed. Realize that the turning point at which you begin to attain success is usually defined by some form of defeat or failure. With this realization you need not accept defeat as failure but only as a temporary event that may prove to be blessing in disguise. Relate to every circumstances in your life as something that has happened for best, for it may be that your saddest experience will bring you your greatest asset if you give time a chance to mellow your distress.

iv. Acknowledge that the space you occupy in this world is an exact ratio to the quantity and quality of the service you render for the benefits of others plus the mental attitude in which you render it.

In life some don’t know that we have an obligation to render some has use a negative mental attitude on their base on the environment the found there self, but they don’t know that they have a lot of things to offer in their own way. We should occupy our mind with doing what you want to do so that no time will be left to for it to stray to the things you do not want to do. Allure your mind to attract the thing and situations you desire by expressing in a daily prayer your gratitude for what you already have.

v. Habits become a part of life by repetition.

If you create thought habit by repeating certain ideas in your mind, cosmic habit force will take over those patterns of thought, make them more or less permanent and put them to work .The same will become a physical habit .sometimes will do things often without knowing that it has become part of us, both the things we conscious or unconscious if we do it always it becomes a habit. So we should do what we should do in connection with your definite major purpose.

vi. Interference with normal rhythmical patterns produces so many problems.

If you don’t give your mind a rhythm of work and relaxation your body will be so constantly stimulated that you will likely to end up with a stress – related disorder .And without high and low, the things that you value begin to pale. Your past failures are what makes success sweet. Without past their will be no present. We have to learn and understand the waves and rhythm of our life and to live in within rhythms in order to be in harmony with the world.

vii. Our strength grows out of our weakness.

Not until we are pricked and stung and sorely shot at ,awakens the indignation which arms itself with secret forces .A great man is always willing to be little ,While he sits on cushions of advantages he goes to sleep. When he is pushed, tormented defeated, he has a chance to learn something; he has been put on his wits; on his manhood; he has gained facts; leaned from his ignorance; been cured of the insanity of conceit; has gotten moderation and real skill. Once we recognize our faults we should study it and learn why it happen if not we will continue to fail on that.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

This idea has helped in defining my goals because when you define your goals it will help you to be aware of opportunities related to it. It will also awaken both your conscious and your unconscious mind. This ideas has taught me that when you have a definiteness of purpose in life then you have started you way to greatness. Cause in life nobody has achieved greatness without setting a plan on how to achieve them.
Having good mental attitude towards things .this idea has helped me both in my personal life and to create a better world. Great success is a result of one’s understanding and using a positive mental attitude. You mental attitude gives power to everything you do .Having a positive mental attitude means that your actions and thoughts further you end
I know longer hold blame for my failure rather I use them to create a better world for myself and the society because I see my failures as a stepping stone to my success .it has become an eye opener to great opportunity. I will never allow my failures to hold me back in life.

I have gotten to know that going extra mile leads to having a personal initiative. Cause before you think of going extra mile, you are seeing far above others which differentiate you from the crowd and it gets you to be creative. And again for all this to last long we must be disciplined in other not fail. Success can be build but discipline keeps it from falling.

4. Quotes: Are there any statement which the author made that particular got your attention? If so please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

“Neglecting your faith while carrying out your definite major purpose is like trying to study astronomy without referring to the stars. If you don’t have in something it will not work even when it worked for others. Confidence begets confidence. Faith wipes out obstructions like intolerance by freeing your mind of human limitations. Once you have faith you have overcome fear.”

The sad fact is that most people have no definite purpose greater than their paycheck. No matter how they work, the wheel of fortune turns right pass them because they neither expect nor demand more. Some people don’t have definite major purpose in life they are just whiling away their time.

“Success attracts more success while failure attracts more failure. Nothing could be truer. Striving for success makes you better able to attain it. But when you sit down and do it make a failures, once you gain success in what you do, you will like to do more.”

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

Nothing at all, all ideas were made very clear.

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

Yes the book contains a lot of exercise for great leaders. I am working with the exercises and they are very helpful and imparting.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

No.

PsychoCybernetics
Assessment by Amaugo Blessing Chidimma (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The author was trying to convey a message that a plastic surgeon does not simply alter a man’s face; it alters the man’s inner self. Because self image is a key to a better life, whether we realize it or not, each of us carries about with us a mental blue print or picture of ourselves. It is the common Denominator; the determining factor in all our case histories, the failures as well as the successes. The secret is this: Too really “live,” that is to find life reasonably satisfying; you must have an adequate and realistic self image that you can live with. Your self-image must be a reasonable approximation of “you,” being neither more than you are, nor less than you are. We should also build our success mechanism every living thing has a built-in guidance system or goal-striving device, put there by its Creator to help it achieve its goal which is, in broad terms to “live.” Success Mechanisms by the use of imagination, or imaging ability. When “You” select the goal and trigger it into action, an automatic mechanism takes over. He said that imagination is the first key to success. For imagination sets the goal “picture” which our automatic mechanism works on. We act, or fail to act, not because of “will,” as is so commonly believed, but because of imagination. Your nervous system cannot tell the difference between an imagined experience and a “real” experience. In either case, it reacts automatically to information which you give to it from your forebrain.

Remember, above all, that the key to any crisis situation is “You.” He said we should learn how to make crisis work for us by making crisis a creative opportunity. If our intention, or our attitude-goal, is to go forward, if it is to make the most of the crisis situation, and win out in spite of it, then the excitement of the occasion will re-enforce this tendency it will give you more courage, more strength to go forward. If you lose sight of your original goal and your attitude goal becomes one of running away from the crisis, of seeking to somehow get past it by evading it; this running-away tendency will also be re-enforced, and you will experience fear and anxiety. He said a man can not just meet success or failure; He carries their seeds around in his personality and character. So we should always define

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal example from your own life.

i. “Understanding the psychology of the self can mean the difference between success and failure, love and hate, bitterness and happiness. The discovery of the real self can rescue a crumbling marriage, recreate a faltering career, transform victims of ‘personality failure.’ On another plane, discovering your real self means the difference between freedom and the compulsions of conformity.”

If you don’t realize who are you will be leaving in the shadow of another person .All your actions feeling, behavior, even your abilities are always consistent with this self image. We should also discover our success mechanism. Your brain and nervous system constitute a goal-striving mechanism which operates automatically to achieve a certain goal, very much as a self-aiming torpedo. Your built-in servo mechanism functions both as a “guidance system” to automatically steer you in the right direction to achieve certain goals, or make correct responses to environment, and also as an “electronic brain” which can function automatically to solve problems, give you needed answers, and provide new ideas or “inspirations.” So is very necessary and important to build our success mechanism so not to allow unnecessary or unimportant to build it’s self

ii. You act, and feel, not according to what things are really like, but according to the image your mind holds of what they are like.

You have certain mental images of yourself, your world, and the people around you, and you behave as though these images were the truth, the reality, rather than the things they represent If we picture ourselves performing in a certain manner, it is nearly the same as the actual performance. Mental practice helps to make perfect.

iii. We should use our God-given power of reason as a method of changing negative beliefs and behavior.

To some, it seems incredibly naive and unscientific. But our It is conscious thinking which is the “control knob” of your unconscious machine. It was by conscious thought, though perhaps irrational and unrealistic, that the unconscious machine developed its negative and inappropriate reaction patterns, and it is by conscious rational thought that the automatic reaction patterns can be changed.

iv. Happiness is native to the human mind and its physical machine. We think better, perform better, feel better, and are healthier when we are happy. Even our physical sense organs work better.

Form the habit of reacting aggressively and positively toward threats and problems. Form the habit of keeping goal-oriented all the time, regardless of what happens. Do this by practicing a positive aggressive attitude, both in actual everyday situations which come up, and also in your imagination. See yourself in your imagination taking positive, intelligent action toward solving a problem or reaching a goal. See yourself reacting to threats, not by running away or evading them, but by meeting them, dealing with them, grappling with them in an aggressive and intelligent manner.

v. Don’t force yourself.

Don’t attempt to coerce your mind. Don’t try to use effort or will power to bring about the desired conviction. Just do what you do when you worry, only “worry” about a positive goal and a desirable outcome, rather than about a negative goal and an undesirable outcome. Don’t begin by trying to force yourself to have absolute faith in the desired success.
vi. We said that our own feelings do not depend upon externals, but upon our own attitudes, reactions and responses.

If your intention, or your attitude-goal, is to go forward, if it is to make the most of the crisis situation, and win out in spite of it, then the excitement of the occasion will re-enforce this tendency—it will give you more courage, more strength to go forward. If you lose sight of your original goal, and your attitude-goal becomes one of running away from the crisis, of seeking to somehow get past it by evading it—this running-away tendency will also be re-enforced, and you will experience fear and anxiety.

vii. Keep in mind that excessive negative feedback has the effect of interfering with, or stopping completely, the appropriate response.

The purpose of negative feedback, however, is to modify response, and change the course of forward action not to stop it altogether. We must have negative feedback in order to operate purposely, in order to steer our way, or be guided to a goal. Negative feedback always says in effect, “Stop what you’re doing, or the way you’re doing it and do something else.” Its purpose is to modify response, or change the degree of forward action not to stop all action. Negative feedback does not say, “Stop period!” It says, what you are doing is wrong, but it does not say, it is wrong to do anything. “I don’t like these cold, precise, perfect people, who in order to speak wrong never speak at all, and in order not to do wrong, never do anything,” said Henry Ward Beecher.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you create a better world? If so, how?

At the course of the studying this book I have gotten some ideas that will not only help me in daily personal life but also create a better world for myself and people around me which include. In the issue of self image I have learnt that our actions, feeling, behavior even our abilities are always consistent with self image. So is always necessary to have a positive picture of our self no matter what the circumstance may be. So develop a good self image in every situation so not to carry a wrong or negative self image. Since this self-image is our own conception of the “sort of person I am.” It has been built up from our own beliefs about ourselves. I have learned to change my negative idea to a positive one by changing my negative mental image and also make use of my God given gift.
In the case of worrying I am building myself not to worry about negative things but worry about the positive outcome which has been set cause no matter how you worry what will happen will happen. So I use this lesson to worry less, because nothing is achieved through worrying.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

“A role-playing salesman, at night when he is alone, will create these situations. He will imagine the prospect throwing the widest kind of curves at him. Then he will work out the best answer to them.No matter what the situation is, you can prepare for it beforehand by means of imagining yourself and your prospect face to face while he is raising objections and creating problems and you are handling them properly.”

“These memories of past failures do no harm as long as our conscious thought and attention is focused upon the positive goal to be accomplished. Therefore, it is best to let these sleeping dogs lie.”

“Our errors, mistakes, failures, and sometimes even our humiliations, were necessary steps in the learning process. However, they were meant to be means to an end and not an end in themselves.”

“We can only do one thing at a time. Realizing this, fully convincing ourselves of this simple and obvious truth, enables us to mentally stop trying to do the things that lie next, and to concentrate all our awareness, all our responsiveness, on this one thing we are doing now.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

The book is very clear and well understood.

Success through a Positive Mental Attitude
Assessment by Amaugo Blessing Chidimma (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

Success through positive mental attitude is a book that give you a guide on how to your live a purposeful life. The author has many ideas which he was trying to convey, some of his ideas include. Searching for our light; the author was saying that each of us carry a light within us and that we should discover what that light is and work towards it. Until we discover who we are we cannot be successful because we cannot have a positive mental attitude unless we have searched for our God given light. And once what you discovered is not against the law of God and society you will achieve it. He also said that definiteness of purpose is the starting point of achievement cause when you are able to understand yourself and the light you carry everything will be very easy for Another point of his is that we should clear the cobweb of our thinking; we should not only see the negative side of people or things that are happening within us because if the word said that “as a man thinks so he is his and before we remove the mote that is in another person eyes we should able to remove our own first he tried to let people should see their own faults before looking at others . And that we should see t things always in positive way no matter what the situation will be. Also he said we should add something more to get the beauty of what we are striving for. He said that success is achieved and maintain by those who try and keep on trying with positive mental attitude. We continue to add something until we get right. He also said that we should learn to see is to say, we should learn how to take advice and correction from people. Seeing is a learned process. Furthermore he said we learn how to use other people more to start our own business. We should wait until we have our own money before we start our business we can borrow from the bank or any organization that loans money. We should learn how to motive our self and other. Know the principle that motivates you then you will know the principles that motivate others. We learn how to control our emotions and ordain our destiny.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal example from your own life

i. We are poor not because of God. We are poor because father has never developed a desire to become rich.

No one in our family has ever developed a desire to be anything else. God’s desire for all of is to prosper and reach that expected end. This idea made me to understand that whatever mess am in today is not God’s desire but my ignorance, so I have to make effort and use my God given gift to come out from it. I need to understand his desires for me and work towards it. Whatever we choose for our self that is what will become .This is what I choose. This is what I want most to accomplish.” And unless your goal is against the laws of God or society, you can achieve it. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by trying. Success is achieved and maintained by those who keep trying with PMA. What you try for is up to you.

ii. Keep your mind on things you should and do want and off the things you shouldn’t and don’t want.

I have learned not focus on the things cannot change even do is not easy so I try to focus on the things I can change. And also I use a self starter. Do It Now and Then Get Into Action.

iii. The difference between success and failure is a little more.

I found out from this idea that the reason why success is not achieved in something’s in life is that we fail to add a little more to it. That is why he said that the whole is equal to the sum of its part and is greater than any of its parts. Failure is experienced by those who when they experience defeat, stop trying to find the something more .when you seek success with positive mental attitude; you keep searching to find something more. It’s easy when you learn the something more and experience the know–how.

iv. The more civilized, cultured and refined you are the more easily you can control your emotions and feelings if you choose to do so.

The more experience you see and have the more you will be able to handle issues that you encounter daily in life. Because with a controlled emotions you will start from where and get to where you want to be regardless of what you are or what you have been. Your emotions are subject to your actions.

v. Know the principle that can motivate you.

When I know the principle that can motivate me I will also know the principle that can motive others. Cause in life you cannot give what you don’t have. If a man is right his world will be right.

vi. Our doing can never be as our intentions.

Sometimes the way we react to issues may not be what we intended to do initially. So we should learn that perfection is neither required nor necessary. And approximations are good enough for all practical purpose. Let’s learn to tolerate a certain amount of frustrations without becoming upset about it. Because the answer to aggressions is not to eradicate it but to understand it and provide proper and appropriate channel for its expressions.

vii. In all you do always have a positive mental attitude.

We should the thoughts that you think and the statement you make regarding yourself determine your mental attitude. With positive mental attitude will we be able to achieve our set goals.
3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you create a better world? If so, how?

The idea I got from these book has help in Goal Mapping. It has taught on how to set my goals and achieved it. According to fuller moms she said that we failed not because of God but because we have not planed or set the right goals. So for us to understand the right goals we should read inspirational books especial the holy bible with that we will be able to understand our purpose. If you know what you want you are more apt to recognize it when you see it. S.B Fuller said when you read books for an example you will recognizes opportunity to help you get what you want. It has help me in the area of having positive mental attitude in every situation so in all that I go through I have these word at the back my of mind “Day by day in every way through the grace of God I am getting better and better” and Every adversity has a seed of equivalent or greater benefits . Success is achieved and maintained by those who keep trying with positive mental attitude. Also I learned how to see beyond the physical eyes. Seeing is a learned skill and must be exercised. When you want to go far you have to see they things which others are not seeing. What you see is an interpretation of the mind. So we have to train the mind to interpret what we see. So in life you decide what you want to see.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

How to Win Friends and Influence People
Assessment by Blessing Chidimma Amaugo (Nigeria)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

Dealing with people is probably the biggest problem you face, in every aspect of life. So the author’s main purpose in this book is to give us the different fundamental techniques on how to win friends and influence people. He said when dealing with people let us remember we are not dealing with creatures of logic. We are dealing with creature of emotion, creatures bristling with prejudices and motivated by pride and vanity. So let us not criticize or condemn and complain about other people’s way of life. We should give a
honest and sincere appreciation to people. We should also be interested in people, and be a good listener so that they will be able people to talk about themselves more. More also we should be hearty in their approbation and lavish in their praise. When we are right, let’s try to win people gently and tactfully to our way of thinking, and when we are wrong and that will be surprisingly often, if we are honest with ourselves – let’s admit our mistakes quickly and with enthusiasm. Not only will that technique produce astonishing results; but, believe it or not, it is a lot more fun, under the circumstances, than trying to defend oneself.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. Don’t criticize condemn and complain.

This idea is important to me because before now I easily complain criticize and condemn people without first considering the reason behind what they did or doing. This idea has change my mentality in this aspect that we should give a due a consideration before we Condemn Criticize and Complain. Just like Benjamin Franklin said I will try and speak no ill of any man but speak all the good I know about them. Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain – and most fools do. But it takes character and self-control to be understanding and forgiving. Instead of condemning people, let’s try to understand them. Let’s try to figure out why they do what they do. That’s a lot more profitable and intriguing than criticism; and it breeds sympathy, tolerance and kindness. I am convinced now that nothing good is accomplished and a lot of damage can be done if you tell a person straight out that he or she is wrong. You only succeed in stripping that person of self-dignity and making yourself an unwelcome part of any discussion.

ii. Give honest and sincere appreciation to people .this idea is very important in the sense that it brings out the best in them.

When you sincere praise people for the little things they did it will make them be willing to do. Williams said “the deepest principle in human nature is the craving to be appreciated ’’and is that urge that makes us different from animal. Lack of appreciation has lead to much divorce in the world today. If a woman is to find happiness at in her husband, she is to find it in his appreciation and devotion, if that appreciation and devotion is actual, there is the answer to hi happiness also. All this hallmark of a good breeding. The desire to be important the best that is in a person is by appreciation and encouragement.

iii. If you are wrong admit it.

Sometimes is very hard to do but it takes self control and courage to admit that we wrong especially immediately. Most times is not easy for me but I do that I feel free and relaxed. Than fighting over it. It makes people want to help you if you are wrong. When we admits our mistakes without much arguments people want more to do with us. Say about yourself all the derogatory things you know the other person is thinking or wants to say or intends to say and say them before that person has a chance to say them.

iv. “People who smile, tend to manage teach and sell more effectively, and toraise happier children”

There’s far more information in a smile than a frown. That’s why encouragement is a much more effective teaching device than punishment. You must have a good time meeting people if you expect them to have a good time meeting you. Everybody in the world is seeking happiness and there is one sure way to find it. That is by controlling your thoughts. Happiness doesn’t depend on outward conditions. It depends on inner
conditions.

v. If a man’s heart is rankling with discord and ill feeling toward you, you can’t win him to your way of thinking with all the logic in Christendom.

It is an old and true maxim that “a drop of honey catches more flies than a gallon of gall.” So with men, if you would win a man to you cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend. Therein is a drop of honey that catches his heart; which, say what you will, is the great high road to his reason.

vi. Be liberal with your encouragement.

Make the thing seem easy to do, let the other person know that you have faith in his ability to do it, that he has an undeveloped flair for it – and he will practice until the dawn comes in the window in order to excel. When we correct people with it makes them want to learn the right things. If we want to excel in that difficult leadership role of changing the attitude or behavior of others, we should give the other person a fine reputation to live up to.

vii. Talk about changing people.

If you and I will inspire the people with whom we come in contact to a realization of the hidden treasures they possess, we can do far more than change people. We can literally transform them. Compared with what we ought to be, we are only half awake. We are making use of only a small part of our physical and mental resources. Stating the thing broadly, the human individual thus lives far within his limits. He possesses powers of various sorts which he habitually fails to use. One of these powers you are probably not using to the fullest extent is your magic ability to praise people and inspire them with a realization of their latent possibilities. Abilities wither under criticism; they blossom under encouragement.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

The idea in this book is an eye-opener to because it gives me a new insight especially starting the year with it. It has given me a new knowledge, idea and beginning on how to handle and influence people before now I find it very easy to complain criticize and condemn others without considering that we are humans with emotions. I have also eliminated criticism from my system. I give appreciation and praise now instead of condemnation. I have stopped talking about what I want. I am now trying to see the other person’s viewpoint. With these ideas I have learned not to indulge in unnecessary arguments. Even if I do I should not try not to force my points or make them very bad at the whole of everything. But the best way is for me to avoid it. To admit it whenever am wrong I believe it will help to grow more and be open to learn more and more. If we want to make friends, let’s greet people with animation and enthusiasm. We should be genuinely interested in people. “Thus the sovereign voluntary path to cheerfulness, if our cheerfulness be lost, is to sit up cheerfully and to act and speak as if.” Cooperativeness in conversation is achieved when you show that you consider the other person’s ideas and feelings as important as your own. Starting your conversation by giving the.
Cheerfulness were already there. It isn’t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it. Your smile is a messenger of your good will. Your smile brightens the lives of all who see it. There is a certain degree of satisfaction in having the courage to admit one’s errors. It not only clears the air of guilt and defensiveness, but often helps solve the problem created by the error.

4. Quotes: Are there brief quotes from the book which really got your attention? If so, please list and comment on them.

“People sometimes became invalids in order to win sympathy and
attention and get a feeling of importance.”

“I have yet to find the person, however great or exalted his station, who did not do better work and put forth greater effort under a spirit of approval than he would ever do under a spirit of criticism.”

“If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person’s point of view and see things from that person’s angle as well as from your own.”

“People who can put themselves in the place of other people, who can understand the workings of their minds, need never worry about what the future has in store for them.
If we want to make friends, let’s put ourselves out to do things for other people things that require time, energy, unselfishness and thoughtfulness. Seeing things through another person’s eyes may ease tensions.”

“When personal problems become overwhelming.”
