Return to the Garden
Deb Rosen (USA/WI)
There is a link on the IIGL website; global-leadership.com called “Return to the Garden;” it features IIGL key contributors who have passed away over the past 12 years. I would like to share a short introduction of each one of them because each of them played a critical role in the formation and continued development of IIGL:
Helen Baker (USA/SC) who passed in 2012 was the first IIGL Board Secretary. I recall Helen purchasing a printer for Michael as one of her first IIGL donations! She was a very active Mentor, Contributor and was influential in helping IIGL receive accreditation as a nonprofit!
Gillian Kean (England) passed suddenly in 2013 and was an IIGL Board Vice President and Contributor. Gillian was a citizen of the World and had many connections globally! She was very involved in Middle East peace efforts and had a special interest in Bosnia. Gillian was part of the original IIGL vision council. She was often sent on “assignments” to facilitate World Peace!
Julie Loosbrock (USA/WI) passed in 2016 and was a key IIGL Mentor and Contributor. As part of her legacy she donated an endowment which is still being utilized in a long term savings account. Julie loved mentoring and found great joy in coaching many of our IIGL graduates and current Board leaders including Charles Kabera (Rwanda) and Lynda Eze (Nigeria/USA).
Corine Wilson (USA/FL) passed in 2017 and was our first IIGL Board President. Corine was also a Mentor, Contributor and part of the Vision Council. She was actively involved with many human rights organizations especially those focused on African American equality. When Corine spoke, everyone listened!
Lynne Murguia (USA/AZ) passed in 2022 and served as IIGL Treasurer and Finance Committee chair for many years. She was the top IIGL Contributor and also mentored many students. If it wasn’t for Lynne’s dedication and financial contributions; IIGL most likely wouldn’t exist today. Her legacy will long be remembered!
Each of these women personally touched and mentored me as well as so many of our students and graduates! Please join me by offering them eternal gratitude!
What Others Are Saying
Why IIGL?
Michael Kelechi (Nigeria/UK)
IIGL is like a suitcase I carry along with me where ever I go to. The lessons and memories will last me a lifetime. I am very grateful for coming across the Institute.
When I think of IIGL, I think of a family around the world. I am deeply delighted to be involved in the transformative work going on in IIGL! I have grown profoundly both personally and socially as a result of the vital information I get through the program and hence with a full chest, I endorse IIGL!

President Emeritus Leads Vision for Change Effort!
IIGL President Emeritus and Graduate Vivian Muciri (Kenya); muciri.vivian@gmail.com shared:
“Recently at Maranjau prison, we celebrated the release of Millionare back to the community. When Law intersects with reality, the complexities of the accused come into focus. In certain situations, it’s evident that when people enter survival mode, their primal instincts take over, revealing their capacity for wrongdoing and highlighting potential criminal tendencies. Transitioning an individual from mere survival to a space where they can truly live allows them to thrive. This shift fosters a desire to be good, do good, and become good. With the right support, transformation becomes possible, so approach with patience and understanding rather than haste in judgment.”
Vivian is the Founder and Director of the Vision for Change Foundation in Kenya.

AGRA is a proudly African-lead institution focused on scaling agricultural innovations that help smallholder farmers towards increased incomes, better livelihoods and improve food security. They understand that African famers need uniquely African solutions to the environmental and agricultural challengers they face, enabling them to sustainably boost production and gain access to rapidly growing agricultural markets. In short; AGRA’s mission is to transform the lives of smallholder farmers from that of a solitary struggle for survival to a business that thrives.

Meet Our New Students
We had 1 new student this month
Shem Manoti Nyakundi (Kenya)
I was born and raised in Kisii hills, I am a third born in a family of six, 2 girls and 4 boys, coming from a humble background, even going to school was an issue. We could not afford school fees, my parents had to struggle to make both ends meet, being peasant farmers with limited resources we had to help them in farm work, they had planted coffee and tea, every morning we could pluck coffee before going to school and tea. We had different days of doing the job; there was a day for coffee and a day for tea. After finishing my college I couldn’t get a job and I decided that I have to do something. I started selling ground nuts on the streets and coffee. It was a moving business especially during cold weather and in the evening, I had to have the spirit of saving. I had enough money that made me start a small hotel selling same coffees, mandazi, groundnut and main food. I had a good relationship with my clients and fortunately one of my clients became my wife. I knew her through my business and she could volunteer on serving clients and the rest is history we are blessed with three children.

Make A Difference
Dream Team 22
Please join Dream Team 22 as our goal is to have 22 people contributing $22 per month. We understand that money is energy and that to sustain and build IIGL we need a lot of people pouring their energy into this endeavor on a regular basis. We also know that not everyone can afford to commit $22 a month – especially our students, who live in countries with economies in which this amount can be equal to a weeks’ salary. So we are offering two options for those who wish to become a part of the Dream Team. One can commit to a $22 a month contribution or to spending 22 seconds each day holding the vision of IIGL becoming financially sustainable by the end of 2025!
Please join the Dream Team and help us create an energetic foundation to support the transformational work of IIGL! You can really make a difference in the world by making a modest contribution of time or money. To make the $22 a month commitment or a one time donation, click the link below. To become a member of the Dream Team 22 by committing 22 second a day to help us hold the vision, contact Deb for details: drosen2@wi.rr.com
