Sherpa Pema Rinji – Assessments

As a Man Thinketh

Assessmenb by Pema Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea I found in this book is that, we can guide our mind and life ourselves and all the happy and sad moments of our life is because of our own deeds. This book has well said that, we human are the governor of our life. So, only we are responsible for whatever happens in our life. Our mind guide us to do the things if we have positive thinking in our mind we will do good things and the result will be good or positive but if we have negative mind or thought we will do bad/ negative things and the result also will be negative. We have to control our mind to think negative, we have to control the stress, different unfulfilled desires, jealousness, anger etc. so, we can make our life happy. If something wrong happened in our life we have to think that what was the mistake and how to improve them. People usually blame their fed or to the God for the circumstances that came to their lives, but in actual neither their fad nor the God were responsible for that but their own deeds.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. We can make our life our selves how we want.

This is the most important idea I have found in this book. There is no one to run our life, only we are there. Whatever happens to us is because of us. My family had offered me to get married when I was just 18 years old and I had just finished my grade 10. I had denied their proposal because I wanted to get higher education and make my life happy. If I had accepted their idea at that time, now I wouldn’t be here and this much happy, of course I would have different family with kids. I might not be this much happy because I couldn’t fulfill my dreams, I would be busy in just handling household works.

ii. Minds have to be full with positive and creative thoughts.

We have to keep our mind busy with positive and creative thoughts because it will lead us to positive works. If the negative thoughts take place there, our life will run to negative things and we will have problems. Once I had read in a book that, what we keep thinking in our mind can happen in our real life. If we keep fear to do something we may fail to do that on the other hand if we think that we can do all the things then we will get success there. I had realized this when I was learning to ride a bicycle. Once I have to go through very downhill and I had a fear in my mind that I may fall down because I had never ride on the very downhill. I was coming down with the fear and unfortunately I fall down and cut my knee. Next time on the same road I was riding bicycle but I keep thinking that I will pass it without any problem, I got kind of confident and I did that.

iii. All the situations we are facing in our life is just because we thought on that way.

This idea is important to be because, I had realized this so many times. When I was just in my primary level one of my friends used to blame her fed because she thinks she is not born with beautiful face. She was good in dance but never participate on the competitions just thinking that nobody would like her black face, she was only a girl in our school with dark black face. Once when one of our teachers found that, the dance which won the competition was choreographed by her then he told her to participant on competition. She went for the competition and won the prize. She was very sad her study was also not good just because she keep taking stress on nonsense thing. She was a very good dancer but she thought she is not beautiful after she realized that her color of face won’t disturb her to show her talent she became a very good and happy dancer.

iv. What we do for other will come back to us.

If we did some good things for other or for ourselves, the result will be good and other people will also do the good things for us but if we did some bad things for other the same thing will happens to us. This means we have to keep our sprit clean there should be any negative thinking for anyone. I learned this things from my father, my father was a person who helps anyone without any returns, mom sometime used to scold him for doing this but he never mind just keep saying with a smile that, “I feel happy when I help people and I know my karma will lead my life”. All people around like and love him when he was alive I thought it is normal. What attracted my mind is, all the villagers, relatives older or younger everyone was there in his federal and all the people helped our family for many days. They were praying for my father. A very old woman of my village came in federal and cried saying “why God take such a person” she gave 10000 Rs. Saying that “this is the money I saved for my son’s weeding but I lost another son I can’t help you by working I am very old and weak. So, I would like to help you by this” seeing that woman made my cry and I remember the things my father used to say. I found him so great.

v. Self control is very important to make our life happy.

If we lose self control, our life will fail the break, and what we will get is only an accident. If we desire to become rich, there should be a limit, I don’t mean stop earning in some certain point but what I mean is, we have to be happy by the money we made and we have to use them in good activities. If we desire to be rich and did some bad jobs for that like, rubbing, killing and so on we would never be happy.

vi. We can get only what we seeds.

This is very true in natural way that what we seeds the same thing will grow there. If we did something with good purpose, good result will come but if we did something with bad purpose we will get only the bad results. If we do the things with positive vision positive result will appear and if we do the same thing with negative aspect the result also will be negative.

vii. Our thoughts will make our personality.

We can see some people with good personality and some with bad; this is because people with good personality have good thinking and the bad one have had thinking in their mind. If some people just keep jealously and greediness in his/ her mind we can see him doing bad things and showing bad habits.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create better world? If so how?

Those lessons from this book are very helpful for me in my practical life and of course these ideas will help to build a beautiful world. After reading this book I found myself happier then I was before, it helped me to make my mind more positive, increased me to keep working with positive thoughts. If all the people around the world get these knowledge of course there will be a very beautiful world, with full of positivity, helpful and happy life. No one would fight each other, no one have to be sad and no one have to suffer from anything.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly god your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you?

“Change of diet will not help a man who will not change his thoughts.”

I got my attention to this statement because I am totally agreed with this statement. Some people just pretend that they are happy, they are helpful, kind and spiritual, I saw some people who usually visit temple pray with God for their better life, they put some money in the name of pray but they never want to give any money or food to the street people and they are very rude to animal. I told them many times with polite language that, doing this kind of activity wouldn’t give you any happy life. Some of them agreed with me some of them still there not ready to change their mind but I am very sure they will also change one day.

“The human is made or unmade by himself.”

Whatever people say about their success or failure, that’s all are just made by themselves. If they worked hard with full of passion they would get success if not they would fail in their mission. We are seeing that so many people physical disability has touched the success and so many strong both physically and mentally are very weaker in the progress.

5. Is there anything in this book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and if so why?

I am very clear on all of the ideas from this book and I didn’t find any ideas I disagree with.

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercise and did you find them helpful?

This book did not contain any exercises.

7. Was there anything you read in this book that you would like to comment on what was not covered in the previous questions, if so please comment?

Yes I have an idea that I read in this book and it was not covered in previous questions, the statement is, “only by much searching or mining, are gold and diamonds obtained.” Why I think this statement is strong because, it has very big meaning and if all the human of this world just try to understand this, our world will be very beautiful. Only by searching in very depth of the earth we can find the very expensive things. In the same way to find out the expensive thought or feeling of human kind we have to think very deep. Now a day people are taking things seriously, if a person saw a child on the street, he/she will say “oh very pity” but they doesn’t think from the very bottom of their heart, if they think so, they would give something to the kids or take that kid to somewhere in safe place. On the other hand if all the people think or feel very deeply and tried to realize what they really wants and what is true then no kids will be on the street.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull

Assessment by Pema Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea that the author trying to convey in this book is that, no rules regulation or cultural and traditional norms can stop a person to be free, to learn what he/ she wanted, and to stay happy. Another idea of this book is do what make you happy not what other tells you to do. In the story the seagull were not free to fly, they were not allowed to break the rule of their society but the one, Jonathan Livingston seagull wanted to be free from that rules. He wanted to fly and wanted to be free. He keep his flying continue even all the gull society became against him. In the end he got successes and he also inspired other gulls to fly.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by explanation after each one as to why it was important to you use personal examples from your own life.

i. When you dreamed for something work very hard to make them come true.

I like this idea because; it is very true that we have to work ourselves very hard to get our dream. When I was in primary level of my school I used to think that I will continue my study up to degree this is because I saw people with degree were in high position than other. I knew it was difficult for me to get there but I studied hard by seeing my hard work I got scholarship so, now I am post graduated.

ii. Doing the things what makes us happy is not wrong.

When we fell happy by doing something we have to do that, not what other makes us to do. When I was child I used to play volleyball this is very popular game in Nepal but only most of the boys used to play. Girls were not allowed to play. My father used to scold me a lot saying that playing game is wasting time, we are sending you school for study not for playing. But I love to play a lot. I keep playing hiding from my dad’s eye. When I reached in secondary level I participate in a tournament and we won the game. When dad saw the certificate and medal he also became happy. Then I realized I was not wrong.

iii. Work against wrong social rules is not bad work.

In the story gulls were not allowed fly. When Jonathan fly for his happiness his society vanished him, he lately knew that the other gulls were also interested to fly and he help them. This happened in my life too. Here in Nepal we accept cast system and there is very big discriminations between high and low cast. In my village so called low cast were not allowed to enter inside our house. When I knew from my school that, all the people are same there is no any differences all have to get same rights and born in low cast is not a fault. I came home told my mom all about these and convince her to let inter everyone inside out home. My father and other neighbor were so angry with me and my mom but lately they also feel doing that is not wrong. So, now there is no discrimination between cast systems.

iv. By staying in the same place we can not know how the other world is.

If the seagulls didn’t knew the idea of flying and going to other places they won’t know the beauty of world and also the happiness, the new experience and other so many new things. After my secondary level of study I had to come to Kathmandu for my higher study. Being honest I was not happy even I got scholarship, because I have to leave my family. I didn’t know that how is the city what kind of people live there and how far is that from my village. The day of living home came I cried a lot but my parents told me that, “I have to leave home for my bright future and I can not do any progress doing the same work there in the village.” I came here in Kathmandu worked hard. Learning the value of earning, saving and so many other things that was unable to learn by staying in my home, looking after cattle and digging the field.

v. Teaching the things we learn to other is very great job.

I am a house in charge of an orphan home now so, I help for my student’s homework and teach them what they feel hard. I also shared my experiences to them and telling them what is the value of education and our life. When I knew something new or if I have any idea of solving any problem of any person I shared with them because it makes me feel happy.

vi. However we earn, whatever we learn or wherever you reach reached we should not forget our birth place, we should go back there.

We have to give back to our family, society or country. For that we have to work for them after we fulfill our certain dream. One of dream is to go back to my community and working with them.

vii. Our life is not for long lasting. So, we should do good thing however we live.

Some people forget that their life is certain and death is not in our control. So, they just waste their life by doing the things which is not good for their heath, family and for their community. I think this is the very wrong thing that they are doing. We should spend our life happily by helping other doing the good things. So, even after our biological life leave people will be remembering us.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in your practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so how?

After reading this story I have realized that, I have so many things to do in my life. To make my entire dream come true I still have to work very hard. I have just seen a part of the world but there are still so many things I have to see, learn and experience. In my view a better world should be very peaceful, where all the people help each other like same family. To create this type of world everyone should work very hard not hurting or disturbing other. There might be difference between skill, knowledge and their earnings but everyone should get same respect.

4. Quotes: are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so please quote them as to why they were important to you.

One of the statements which made me concerned was:

“No Jonathan there is no such place. Heaven is not a place, and it is not a time. Heaven is being perfect.”

Why I feel this statement is important is because, now a day every people wants to touch success in their life, running after success they work a lot not giving time to their family, not caring about their health, just competing between each other. The statement said that there is no such place like haven, the same thing what people not understanding is, success is not a point and life is not long lasting. So, we should enjoy our life, do the things what make us happy, should share love with each other.

“Reaching in success is not a place, success does not have any point. So, we shouldn’t have to spend our whole life running after earning and success.”

I don’t mean we have to stop working hard after certain period but we have to enjoy our success, we would not get happy if we did not learn to be happy.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

Some words were difficult for me but I checked from dictionary. There are no such things that I didn’t understand.

6. Did the book contain exercise for the reader to complete? If so did you complete all the exercise and did you find them helpful?

This book does not have any exercises for the reader to complete.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous question? If so, please comment.

One thing that I would like to comment from this book is that, the physical body structure is nothing in front of our inner will. If Jonathon has stopped flying after realizing that he is limited by nature, his body structure is not for fly he would never know the value of flying, he would never reach there, he couldn’t fulfill his dream of flying very high. So many people in this world are very popular by their hard works even they are physically disabled.

Keys to Success
Assessment by Pema Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in this book?

The main idea the author trying to convey in this book is, everyone can get success in their life. The title of this book clearly says keys to success. So, we can read so many great ideas to get success in this book. We can find seventeen special keys for the success in this book. He said that anyone of the word can get success but have to work hard for that. The main keys like, making definite purpose of the life, establishing a master mind alliance, making creative personality, using applied faith, going extra per day, creating personal initiative, building positive mental attitude, controlling our enthusiasm, self discipline, thinking accurately, controlling our attention, working in team, learning from the failure, keeping creative vision, maintaining heath, proper using of money and time and using cosmic habit force are the main idea the book gives us to get success and it seems very interesting and useful for all the people who wants to do something in their life. After reading this book I gain my confident more than it was before. And I started to apply those keys in my daily life.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation of each one as to why it was important to you? Use personal examples from your own life.

i. Develop definiteness of purpose only by finding your own burning desire will you achieve success.

I think this idea is important to be because I had faced so many failures in my life and I saw in other’s life too. And now I got this they were because of not recognizing the burning desire and making purposes by seeing what other people are doing. When I was in grade 5 I saw a singer getting popular in the society. I got a desire to be singer and I had participated on some singing competitions too but I didn’t get any position later I lost my interest on singing. Now I realize that was my wrong purpose.

ii. If you can see an opportunity as quickly as you can see the faults of others you will soon succeed.

People most of the time just sees the fault of other people, when I was in high school I used to play volleyball game. While playing, some of my friends were there who used to stay just complaining about other. One day our coach told them “don’t do like that and instead of complaining and backbiting talk in friendly manner and help them to improve, only by doing that you can won the match.” By hearing that conversation I had learn this idea. In these days if some people do like that I always remind them that. Keep your eyes on positive things not in negative.

iii. A positive mental attitude is the single important principle of the science of success.
We cannot get success until we build a positive mental attitude. Positive mental attitude is very important to get success. I feel many times that when we feel nervous or hard to do something or we feel like we would not win or get success then the same thing would happen. It is difficult sometime but not impossible if we tried. When we think that, the work we are doing is not hard and we can get success with full confidence then the success wouldn’t be so far from us.

iv. If you accept defeat as and inspiration to try again with renewed confidence and determination attending success will be only matter of time.

I feel this point important to me because I had also applied this in my life many times. I went to a new school after grade seven, I feel very nervous in the new school. I was kind of shying person at that time. This all affect in my study. So, I fail my exam of first term. I feel very sad for few days but later I realize being sad staying in bad mood is not the solution. Then I started to study hard I keep the ego of being fail and to talk of other student around me. In the next term I inter in top 5 and the other people were surprising about that but they didn’t know how hard I had worked for that.

v. You are where you are and what you are because of your established habits.

I agree with this statement very much. Our habit will determine that how our future will be. If we develop a habit of having alcohol, drugs or habits of keeping negative thoughts on mind one day we will be in very bad situation. On the other hand if we develop positive habits like daily exercise, balance diet etc. we will get success and will live healthy and happy life. I saw some people who always complain about luck, they do not work hard they are not honest and they are not positive then they have no way to complain about the things that not happening in their life even they want.

vi. Whatever your mind can conceive and believe your mind can achieve.

I heard and read that the mental power is a very big power. So, what our mind strongly believes can happen in our real life. Lots of technology, new investment all are just because of the believe people were having.

vii. You cannot get anything for doing nothing.

Everyone of this word learns this idea everyday but we do not realize it and keep expecting things by doing nothing. It creates only pain and sadness in our life. This is very true rules of nature. We cannot get anything in free cost. We have to work for that. We have to pay for everything. We can never get a good health by not caring about our health; we cannot get any food by not working for that. We cannot get success by not working very hard.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so how?

This book is full of inspiration to get success. In the same way the ideas it give us are also very useful in our daily life. I already applied some keys of the success in my life. And I can teach those ideas to other people who are around me. Those ideas would be very useful to anybody to get success and when everyone get success everyone will live a happy life then the word be more beautiful.

4. Quotes: is there any statement which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so please quote them as why they were important to you?

All the statements from this book are very interesting and useful too. Choosing the one most particular:

“The quantity and quality of the extra service you render will come back to you greatly multiplied.”

I feel this statement very true because I had also experience this. In my first year of collage I used to work for hope home without money. I thought that I am getting this opportunity because of so many good hearted people. So, I can also help them from my side and I used to help for any kind of work in the home. After a year the director of the home told me to be the manager of the home. This is the very important lesson for this generation. If we teach them to work in this way and the value of working with extra service, the world will be beautiful.

5. Is there anything in this book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and if so why?

This book is with very simple language, there is nothing that I did not understand from this book and no any ideas with that I am disagree.

6. Did the book contain exercise for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all the exercise and did you find them helpful?

There were no exercises to complete for the reader in this book.

7. Was there anything you read in this book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous question if so please comment.

All the statements from this book are very strong. I am writing here about the strongest one and I think this is important. “Allocate some portion of your income to charity. This is an important part of going the extra mile.” Why I think this statement is important to mention is because in this period people only care about themselves not about others. Going the extra mile is the very greatest idea of this book. If people apply this method in their life then the world will be very beautiful.

Success through a Positive Mental Attitude
Assessment by Pema Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea of this book is we can get any kind of success we desire but for that we have to work with positive mental attitude, and only we are responsible for our attitude.
I found this book similar as the Keys to Success and this book mainly focus on positive mental attitude. It says we can get success by applying all 17 ideas but the main thing is we have to be with positive mental attitude. All the statements, stories and the pilot no. focus on positive thinking.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal example from your own life?

The seven ideas which I think important to me are following:

i. People who are poor are not because of the God. They are poor because they never desire to become rich and they never work for it.

This point attracted me and I remember the word some people of my village used to say. Some people from my village used to blame god for not making them reach. At that time I also used to think that because of gods they were in that situation, why god didn’t give them birth in rich family? But now I got the reason and I realize how they were. They used to work hard but they spend all money in their daily life and mostly in drinks. They never thought about saving for their future earning more than they were earning.

ii. To become an expert achiever in any human activity, it takes practice, practice and practice.

I think this point is very important. Until we give our best to get our goal we won’t be get them. There is a saying that “practice makes a person perfect.” I had heard so many times form my parents and teacher that ‘practice more and more’ weathers it was at the time of exam or at the game’s time. When I was 13 my mom teaches me to make a special dish that called “momo.” I tried to make that but I didn’t make same like my mom’s even after so many times of practice. To make “momo” we have to put some vegetables or meet inside the small piece of bread and rape in very beautiful way. The attraction is in how beautifully that is raped. I practice so many times to make as beautiful as my mom made and I also made same like mom’s after six months of practice.

iii. Don’t blame god for your lack of success.

This point is very important and strong; people who believe in god sometime blame them too. I learned this when I heard spiritual speech from a monk. I learned from his speech that, there is no such a god who has super power to control any one’s life. The god is in us and our faith is within us like we celebrate our success we have to realize our fail too and have to be responsible for them.

iv. Hope is the magic ingredient.

Hope is the very important thing for the people to keep their work continues to get success. If there is no hope then who would work for the success they had desire. Some people lose their hope very soon so that type of people get hard to get success. Whatever the situation is we should keep hope for something better. When there is new hope our mind leads us to the work and we will get our goal.

v. The secret of getting things done is; do it now.

I learned this secret after reading this book and I applied that secret in my daily life. I realize that I was kind of lazy before. Mostly in the morning I dream to work so much but I feel lazy. Most of the time I turn off my alarm and sleep again and the things I wished to done never done in the proper time. From few days ago I applied to method “Do it now” so, now I am doing my works in the perfect time and I also feel like I am in right path and I am doing my best to get my destination.

vi. Just save one dime out of every dollar you earn.

This point is important to me because I had faced the problem of lack of money many times. I realized that how important of saving, when my father suffered from the heart disease and they didn’t have money to come Kathmandu for the treatment. I called them and take him to the hospital with the money I had saved from 3 years ago. I had saved that money to fulfill my dream to travel out of country once. That money became so useful but unfortunately my father didn’t live longer with us but I learned the value of saving.

vii. To be happy make others happy.

It is very true statement, when we desire to be happy; the other people around us also have to be happy. When we see the happiness of other people we will feel happy. For example when we do something for other people, and they get happy we feel very happy and we get happier when they return their treat to us.

3. How will these ideas or lesson help you in a practical way both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world. If so, how?

The ideas I have learned from this book already bring so many changes in my daily life. I became more positive, I am determined to reach my goal and feeling very confident to get success in my life. I hope I will play a very important role to create better world. This book teach us to be positive in any situation, take all the matters positively and I think when there is positive thinking all over the world itself be better than this world.

4. Quotes: are there any statements which the author made that particularly get your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you?

All the statements from this book are very important to be, some of the most important statements were:

“If you know your specific destination and take the first step, you are on the way.”

I think this point important to me because before taking this course I didn’t know about definite purpose. After reading this book I made definite purpose and I am making plans for that, I took a step and I am feeling happy and confident. This is very important to know by everyone that we should set our definite goal and have to give our best to get them then success is not so far from us.

“Faith without work is dead.”

It is very true that if we don’t work for the thing we desire and we keep faith that we could do that. It is very impossible just to keep faith and aspect for the success.

5. is there anything in this book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

This book is very easy to understand with suitable examples and simple language so there is nothing I didn’t understand and also nothing that I disagree with.

6. Did the book contain exercise for the reader to complete? If so did you complete all of the exercise and did you find them helpful?

This book is with lots of questions for the reader between the chapter and they are very useful to find where our level is. I gave the answer of all questions honestly and I am improving my habits to get in best level.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

“A positive mental attitude and definiteness of purpose is the starting point toward all the worthwhile achievement.” This is the main idea of this book and I like this statement very much. I am very clear after reading this book that how important is it to have a positive mental attitude in our daily life and how it affect for our future, to fulfill our dream.

PsychoCybernetics
Assessment by Pema Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea that the author trying to convey in this book is, our self image is very important for us and it determines our success. Our self image is not what other see, what others say about us or how they judge about us but its how we think about us, how we see about us. We would be able to touch the sky only when we think ourselves that we can do that. We do not need to spend lots of money to change our image. It takes few time but we can get it in free, we just have to use our mind, we have to change our thinking, our daily activities our behavior then we do not need to go anywhere we can change our image in very beautifully and our beautiful self image or personality will be leading us to the way of success.

2. What were the seven ideas which were most important to you personally and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you? Use personal example from your own life.

i. The most important psycho logic discovery of this century to discovery of self image.

This point is very important to me because I realized this thing is very important to know, I had never practiced this in my life, before reading this book. I used to think that our dress up, living style and other out things determine our personality and I also used to think that I am not getting the dream I see. But now I am totally changed I started to save my money which I used to spent to buy new clothes and bags. I do not care what other thinks about me. I have my dream to fulfill and I just want to live my life very simple and happy.

ii. Ideas are in the air and if he/she had not discovered it, someone else would have.

This is another great idea I learned from this book. All the great ideas are free but we have to discover them and use them in our daily life. If we do not pick them in proper time someone else will take them.

iii. Glance at negative, but focus on positive.

There are positive and negative things around us we shouldn’t neglect the negative so we have to give them a glance so we can learn something or we can be alert about having them. On the other hand we really have to focus on positive things. Those positive things which will leads us to the way of success. I met so many people who are just passing their time by thinking about their failure, weakness or talking about other people but when they are said to do some social work they refused. Those people from my community are still in the same stage they used to be. So I learned that it is better to focus on positive things.

iv. We makes mistakes, mistakes do not make us.

This is another point that I think important in my life. When I was child, I used to scold by my parents for making mistakes, they used to tell me that you will not be able to do thing properly even after you grow up. I used to pray saying “please God do not make them true. I don’t want to do more mistakes.” I can feel now my innocent mind was also worrying about those mistakes. After reading this point from this book, I realized that making mistake is fine, we can also learn so many things by making mistakes.

v. When we have very strong winning feeling success wouldn’t be so far from us.

I had realized this point three years ago. I had participated in a speech competition. I was feeling nervous in the first day of I fill the form for the competition but I practiced day by day and after 7 day of the practice I promised myself that I will be winning the competition. I imagined myself taking the medal and prize. My imagination became true.

vi. I will not let my own opinion color facts in a pessimistic or negative way.

This is the very important point for me. I promised myself after reading this book that I will apply this in my daily life. I also learn from this book that having negative thinking sometime is not fault but we do not have to let them come daily. I will keep my opinion very strong with the strong determination. Negative thinking would be there but that couldn’t disturb my opinion.

vii. Challenges are everywhere but we have to accept them.

In my life I had learned this matter many times. Without accepting the challenges we cannot take any steep of success. There is a saying that the challenges of your life will make you stronger, this is very true but only when we accept them if we run from the challenges they will fallow was more. To win the challenges we have to face them, accept them or fight with them only then we will meet success.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so how?

Those important ideas from this book had taught so many great things. I will apply them in my life and I will also share those ideas with my family friends relatives and with the people I meet in my life.

4. Quotes: are there any statements which the author made particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

There was a statement which I feel very important to me:

“I will ignore completely and close my mind to all those pessimistic and negative facts which I can do nothing to change.”
This statement is very important for all the people in this world who are healing through sadness, regret and all the bad feeling of their unsuccessful life, their losses and other pain of the life. Actually what they are doing is just wasting their time on the thing that they cannot do anything. I was feeling very sad for my father’s death, I was thinking like how can I manage all the things, how can I make my family happy specially I was very sad for my mom. I tried my best to control the situation at that time but I still had some sadness inside me somewhere and that was effecting me badly. After reading this book I completely changed my mind. I am sad but I am making myself happy by doing the things which make my mom happy and what I have to do further is also the same.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and if so, why?

Only some words are difficult for me but that is not a problem I make them cleared by the help of dictionary. In average there is nothing that I didn’t understand. There is also no any statement that I disagree with.

6. Did the book contain exercise for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

Not actually exercise but this book keeps some do’s after each chapter and said points to remember. I wrote all the points that I learned from that chapter and I found that idea very useful for me. I noted the important point from other books before too but this time the book itself told to note the point and that idea was very helpful.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

This book was very wonderful all the ideas very useful for our successful life. one of the most important point I would like to comment is that, “Stop and think about yourself: in all the history of the world there was never anyone else exactly like you, and all the infinity of time come, there will never be another.” This point also made me feel like more confident and gives lots of power. Everyone should keep this point in mind so it will helps us to enjoy our life makes us feel better than before.

There are so many people in the world that who are making themselves sad by comparing with others. For those people this point will helps a lot. This point very strongly said that there is no one exactly like you that means we are ok to be how we are not how other people are.

How to Win Friends and Influence People
Assessment by Pema Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The main idea of this book is, we can make our life easy happy and successful by influencing people in various way in the same way we can win our friends and competitors by treating them diplomatically. The title of the book well shows what the book is written about, all the examples, short stories and points explain about the technique to win someone’s heart.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal explanation from your own life.

All points from this book was very important for me, the seven most important are listed below:

i. I you want to gather honey, don’t kick over the beehive.

I thought this point is important to me, I think this is a very good technique to win people’s heart but not everyone can do this, only the wise people can. For me also it is difficult, I sometimes treat people rudely I speak with them angrily if they treat me in the same way. I do not care about the benefits from them if we have friendship. After reading this book and analyzing this point I promised myself that, I would never do like that again I will keep my anger in control and treat them in good way no matter how they treat me.

ii. If you want to change someone it is better to change yourself.

This point is also very important for everyone, we often tried to change other and we remain same and the result is nothing. I had learned this when I was in grade twelve, I used to live at hostel. The environment around our hostel was quite dirty, people around was throwing waste anywhere, I wanted to clean that area, we were facing bad smell of garbage. So, we decided to clean whole area by our group. We repeat that activity for many times. After a month we saw changes, people were not throwing their wastages. We saw our around clean. Now I realized if we didn’t start that cleaning project and stay blaming that society, there wouldn’t be any changes. From that day, whenever I wanted to make some changes I start myself at first then only I suggest other. I found this idea very helpful for positive changes in the society.

iii. Make the other person feels important and do it sincerely.

This is also a very good idea but hard to apply by normal people, to apply this method in our life, we have to understand the diplomacy very heart fully. People often feel themselves important but to with other’s heart we have to make feels that other person is important. I also do it often, while requesting other staff to do something. They sometime don’t do the task properly and I make them feel that how great are they or how important are them and after doing this they do the entire task and solve problems themselves.

iv. The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.

This is a point which most of the people realize in their life but not able to use. I do this so often, I used to do this but I didn’t know that this is also a technique but I used to avoid argument because I do not like arguing with anyone, I used to leave conversation after seeing the impossibility of solve problem and the nonsense points of my against, I some time wasted my time too arguing with other. Now I learned this best idea so I would never be wasting my time in arguing.

v. Try honestly to see the things from the other’s point of view.

Most of the time I do this mistake, I judge the matter or person from my point of view. Now I got the idea why I feel angry soon and put me in problem myself. This is a great idea to solve the problems and to save relations. If we see all the things from the other’s point of view, we would never have problem with others opinion. When I was in my teenage, I used to disturb my parents frequently by asking to go somewhere with friends, asking for new cloths and money. They often refused my proposal I used to be sad and angry with them. In these days I feel very regret for that and I say sorry frequently for not understanding their point of view, they do not wanted to see their daughter ruin her life, by over freedom. After reading this book, I again recalled my memory and I would never repeat that mistake.

vi. Some time it is necessary to dramatize our ideas.

I saw some of my seniors doing their task by applying this method. They make us to what they want by dramatizing their ideas. At that time we didn’t know what is the reason that they let us to the task in different way and we found that way very interesting. Once our boss shows us a video of a vegetable farm and organic farming we were inspired by that video and ready to do organic farming in our garden, only after few days I realized that he was telling us indirectly to do organic farming.

vii. Talk about your own mistakes, before criticizing the other person.

By doing this we will be able to win someone’s heart in the same way we can also make them feels better and confident. I used to apply this method while, correcting someone, I start by telling them that “I also did the same mistake and what I realized” after listening this, they feels fine and listen to my suggestion carefully, in the same way they will be ready to change or correct their mistake.

3. How these ideas or lessons help you in practical way, both in your daily personal life, and in helping you to create a better world? If so how?

Those ideas and lessons are very useful for me, all the ideas are very practical and they are not difficult to apply in my daily life, it may takes time but I will make it usual and make my life easy and successful. I will share these ideas with my family friends and all the people I will meet in my life. On the other hand I will apply all those great ideas in my life and I am sure most of the people will learn by seeing me and other with who are using those techniques.

4. Quotes: Are there any statement which author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you?

There was written a saying of Buddha in this book which was very interesting for me and learned so many things after reading that.

“Hatred is never ended by hatred but by love, and a misunderstanding is never ended by an argument but tact, diplomacy, conciliation and sympathetic desire to see the other person’s view point.”

I found the main idea of this book in this line, such a vast statement which can change so many lives in positive way. Treating others with conciliation and diplomacy, understanding things from their point of view is the very best idea to win hearts.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or unclear about or are there ideas which you disagree with and if so, why?

This book is with very simple language and understandable points. So, there is nothing I didn’t understand and I am fully agree with all the lessons and ideas that written in this book.

6. Did the book contain exercise for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all the exercises and did you find them helpful?

There is not any exercises to complete but the book says read the book by heart and apply the ideas, I think that is very good ideas.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

One very interesting point that I would like to comment here is, the ideas to keep our family happy and to make our marriage successful. There was a point which says, if you want to keep your home life happy don’t nag. This is one of the very common things that everyone should keep in mind. Criticism and nagging is very bad for all kind of relations.

Awaken the Giant Within
Assessment by Pema Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in this book?

The main idea of this book that, we can shape our life style, happiness and destination our self by finding our desire or goal, making true decision, following decision, enjoying both pain and pleasure, training our body and mind, thinking positive, improving mistakes, concerning and keep focusing about what we really want. This book also said that we can train us physically and psychologically. It is easy to live our life in our way the result of something is just because we did something.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List this ideas fallowed by an explanation after each one as to why it is important to you use personal example from your own life.

Not only seven points but all the lines or paragraph was very interesting and important to me. The most important are listed below:

i. Our decision shaped our destination.

This point is very important to me, what I learned from this point is what I decides today will bring my future. If I decide to do positive things in my life or decide to step up to bring progress and stay focused and committed on this then of course I will get to my destination. Decision making has a very big power. So, we have to take right decision only then we will get success in our life.

ii. Weather you get pain or pleasure in life use them in positive way never let them to use you.

This is a very important lesson that every people have to learn and realize. Most of the people we often see running their life because of the pain or pleasure they got in their life. Sometimes we get pain and pleasure because of our self or sometimes just incidentally. It is human nature that we lose control in these both condition but now, after reading this book I know how to use pain and pleasure. I also got ideas what are the importance about pain and pleasure in our life. Without this situation we can’t get any success but to get success we have to handle these both situations very positively and diplomatically.

iii. Success is all about our judgment.

This point is also very important for every people of this world to know. With this kind of thinking we can be not only satisfied with our deeds or what we get but also make our mind positive and gives more inspiration to get more success. What I learn from this point is that, whatever we achieved in our life is great success if we keep our good or positive judgment about them but if we keep judging negative we never would be happy and to get success is also very far.
iv. In order to succeed we must have to have a very long term focus.

This point is important to me because I also realized this in my life, before I joined my bachelor degree I didn’t know much about challenges of life. So, I used to plan only for short term.

v. How we deal with adversity and challenges will shape our lives more than almost anything else.

There is lots of adversity in the same way challenges in our life. We have to deal with them in positive way. We sometime feel very happy when something good happen in our life and lose control and some time some tragedy also may happen and we may feel very sad, week and negative towards future, doing that is very wrong which will destroy not only our physical status but also block the way of success in our future.

vi. If you question anything enough eventually you will begin to doubt it.

What I learned from this point is that, when we dream for something and which comes from core of our heart, we have to focus on what we dream. If we stay questioning on that dream like I may be able to achieve that or nor? How easy is that? How to do that all? Etc. then that dream will not be fulfilled. So, don’t create doubt on your dream but stay committed and focus only on that.

vii. We are what we think.

This point has a strong meaning that says keep positive thinking in your mind, be optimistic, realistic and stay focused on your purpose of life. Thinking has a very big power that’s why what we think or how we think will shape our life. Sometimes when I walk in rain I feel like I may get ill and I realized that I will get ill and sometime I feel like I am enjoying the rain and nothing wrong happen to me. I didn’t know that power of thoughts in my mind but I knew after reading this book.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

I learned making true decisions, stay committed, focused, flexible and positive about them which are very important to me in my practical life and I can teach this thing to my family, friends and other people I met in my life. I believe that transformation of knowledge can help to change society in the same. On the other hand I can show to my society how do deal with pain and pleasure practically. When I do that type of activates they will learn directly or indirectly.

4. Quotes: are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you?

“Happiness is not like a things that we can found, it’s within us that we have to do is just feel it.”

I got my attention to this statement and I keep thinking for whole day. How I think about this statement deeply I got more ideas and in the end of the day I learn so many things. Sometime we see some people working hard to get happiness but they forget to be happy in current moment. I also did that king of mistakes in my life. Now I won’t repeat them in any case and I won’t let anyone around me do such silly things.

“If you could only love enough, you could be the most powerful person in the world.”

This point is also important to me because I realized the power of loving. When we love someone they will love back to us, which will make us stronger in the same way we can love ourselves too which will make us more powerful because when we love ourselves enough we won’t get any injuries, disease which means we can do whatever we wants and which also makes us easy to achieve our goal.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and, if so, why?

I didn’t find anything unclear and I am agreeing with all the statements or lessons of this book.

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

I found that this book says to remember all the important points to remember and write in the last of each chapter and I did that. Which make it easy do this assignment! In the end of this book there are some exercises for us to do in our practical life and it says to practice daily which seems very interesting and helpful to train our body and mind. I am trying one exercise which says to think only positive for certain days. I will practice that all but for now I am very late to do my assignment so I didn’t complete to practice them all but I will definitely practice all that exercises.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the previous questions? If so, please comment.

Yes there are still some statements which I feel so important for me in my life: “Change your state and change your life” One day my friend called me she was very sad, she told me that she got fight with her boyfriend again, I remember those days she used to call me and tell the same story I used to convince her by saying, “don’t ruin the relationship stay together solve your problems and kick out all misunderstandings.” I realized that this is more than 5th times that she calling me and told the same story. This time I think that that might be something wrong with that guy, she tried her best for him but he never satisfy so during the call I remember the line I read last time I read in this book, “change your state and change your life.” So, I suggested to my friend to change her state, I mean stay away of him. Talk to him clearly and tell to break there. I met her yesterday and she seems happy she also told me that now she got the experience of being free again. In this way this line was very important for me and I will always keep this in my mind.

Maximum Achievement
Assessment by Pema Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in this book?

The main idea that the author is trying to convey from this book is that we can get any level of success but for that we have to be prepared by our inner side, the main thing that we need to be success is a proper plan and proper deadline for that. The power to get success is within us, but we have to boost them and keep continue, by believing ourselves keeping the fear of failure aside and handling problems systematically.

2. What were the seven ideas which was personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanations after each one as to why was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life?

i. You can’t hit the target you can’t see.

I think this point is very important to me as well as to all people who wants to get success in their life. How I understand this point is, we have to make a clear vision of our goal. If we ourselves are unclear about the target or about the goal then it’s impossible to get the success. So many people in our real life and we too sometime don’t care about this, we just keep expectation of success but never satisfied with what we achieve and get angry by ourselves.

ii. Peace of mind is your personal gyroscope.

Peace is very important things in our daily life. It is very important for everyone to have peaceful mind. When we are in angry mode, or frustration our mind won’t work properly. I had faced so many problems in my life, just because my mind was not in peace, I used to get angry very fast and because of my anger so many works that I could do easily had done with obstacles. My family and friends were also not happy with this behavior. I realized this after few years and tried to stop. These days I can keep control in my anger and there are no problems.

iii. Life is hard, it always has been and it always will be.

This is one of the very important moral or knowledge for every single person of this world to know, realize and compromise with this. I used to think in past days, that one day I will live a comfortable life. All my dreams will come true and I will be enjoying my life without any obstacles. I found myself wrong these days and I learn nothing is impossible but nothing is so easy that we think. We would not be able to get anything without hard working but this does not mean life is sad, we have to learn how to handle the problems and be happy in any situations. Life is hard but it is also beautiful and joyful, it just depends on how you live it.

iv. Superior man and women trust themselves at a deep level.

This is another very important point for me. Believing in ourselves is very important in any field; if we don’t believe within us then it is very hard to get success. How I do start any new tasks in these days is, by imagining me getting success in that task and feeling the joy of success. I make my belief strong and work hard and I touch my goal. In some cases I got little lesser than my expectation but I accept the achievement and be happy.
When we believe in ourselves, we feel a big power and that supports us to achieve goal.

v. Your future largely depends on what you learn and practice from this moment onward.

Where we are today is all result of what we learn yesterday, what we have been practicing from many years. So, it is very sure that what we learn and practice today will determine our future. If we do learn good things and practice our future will be good and if we waste our time on unnecessary things then we will ruined our future.

vi. Self discipline, self mastery, self control all begin with you taking control of your thinking.

It is very important to keep control in our thinking, it is human nature that we sometime go for wrong things too but if we maintain our self discipline and keep control on that thinking we won’t face problem. When I was in school level, I used to go with my friends in different places for enjoyment. In almost every parties every ceremony and sometime to watch movie without permission of my family. I never ask permission to do such things because I knew they would not all me to go. I enjoyed almost like a year and in the end of the school year I got my result very bad. I was in grade 8 so I keep thinking what was wrong with my study. Certainly I realize my mistake, the days I enjoyed did not only ruin my family relationship but that also harm in my study.

After that year I decided not to join with those friends I also suggest them not to waste our time but they keep doing same and now none of them complete their study some of them get married and have kids some of them are working in foreign countries as a labor. I keep maintained my discipline at that time today I do not have such great achievement but I am good in academic level I am living managed and happy life than them and most important thing I can build my future bright soon and easily.

vii. The fear of failure is the greatest single obstacle to success in adult life.

It is very important to eradicate the fear of failure from our heart and from our mind. We feel fear when we do not have enough confident, to win that fear we should develop self confident by believing in ourselves. We have to dear to step up and work very hard when we get one step of success then the fair goes far itself. To get success in any field it is very important to with the fear of failure.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so how?

Those ideas are such useful ideas which every person needs in their life, those all ideas are very practical and helpful to bring more positive changes in our life. I read all chapters carefully note the important points, apply them in real life, I share with my students, friends and relatives, which not only help them but also help me to build more confident and to be more positive.

4. Quotes: Are there any statement which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you?

One point or statement that I feel more important and I noted in my note book with bold letter is “to become all you can be, you must live more consciously, you must become more alert, more aware and more awake.”

This statement made me think once is, am I doing all this? Am I living in such way or I am just living my life in comfortable way and only thinking about success. After reading this point I started thinking about my dreams, being more conscious about my plans, I started rewriting and reading my goals and thinking how to work and plan to get them.

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or are there ideas which you disagree with and if so, why?

Everything in this book was easy to understand and clear, all points and statements are very useful for our success. There were no such things to disagree.

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so did you complete all the exercises and did you find them helpful?

I really like the exercise which was there to help people to know their mental power. I also practice wrote the answers being very honest and which was very useful.

7. Was there anything you read in the book that you would like to comment on that was not covered in the precious questions? If so, please comment.

One very important I found from this book is, “outer world is a reflection of your inner world.” This point remind me my father’s saying he used to tell us that we have to be good hearted then only our mind will think good. Though he told this thing from religious point he taught us to make our inner world better.

Creating Your Path through Leadership
Assessment by Pema Rinji Sherpa (Nepal)

1. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in this book?

There are many authors and different view of them, how I summarize them is that, we can create our happiness, success and our world by ourselves if we work hard standing on our interest or goal, exercising every day, keeping our mind peaceful and focusing on the goal. In the same way leadership is very important to boost and to illustrate our success. Leadership is a capacity of influencing others, we can train our capacity of leadership.

2. What are the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why they were important to you. Use your personal examples from your own life.

This book was very understandable with easy language and lots of life learning ideas. The seven most important for me are listed below.

i. The day you stop reading is the day you stop dying.

I like this important statement, because I know how much power, knowledge, experiences and some skills I learned by reading different books. I know reading is very important for our personal development. I also give my books to other interested people or some time donates to libraries so, other people will also be able to learn those important things.

ii. Leadership is not something you do to people, rather it is something you do with them.

I am training or practicing my leadership quality and I still doubt on them because I still feel kind of hesitation to talk with new people, some time I feel difficult to find out the main idea. On the other hand I also feel like I am doing very well while people listened to me and follow my lessons. Why I feel this point important is because I usually like the people who respect me, and my work. I think after meeting them I automatically start respecting them because they respect me before.

iii. If you fail to achieve your dreams, change your ways not gods.

This is one of the most important point to every youths of these days. I met people who work very hard but still unsuccessful and later they stay doing nothing to achieve that success rather they blame to their fate. What I learned by reading books is that, this is not the way to get success.

iv. Keep smiling and silence with you always because smile can solve the problem and silence can avoid them.

This is another point which I feel very important for me, I found that smile has a very big power, when I feel tired, unhappy and suddenly I see a people with big smile I smile back and this help me to get out what I am feeling. When I am angry and I don’t wanted to ruin the situation I just smile and move from the place I am standing. Later on I feel good and back. I speak very fast when I am angry now I learned it is better to stay silence, I think this will help me to maintain my relationship and keep me out of many problems.

v. Select the right people in life and make your life better and sweeter.

I have learned that there is no one perfect in this world but there should be some basic characteristic, like loyalty, hardworking, honest, optimistic and realistic. We may have so many friends, teachers, or leaders in our life but choosing the one who is you feel good for is will help to make our life very happy.

vi. Creativity is another most important leadership quality for success in every sector.

When you are creative, you bring many new ideas, many other points which will help you to influence other people, what I notice in my class is the student who are creative bring different ideas are the student who win in everything. This brings me to accept this point that creativity is most important.

vii. “Happiness always looks small while you hold it in your hands but let it go, and you will learn at once how big and precious it is.”

What I understand by this statement is that sharing our happiness is very big thing. When we are happy try to share that with other and make them happy. I think that, this world is being kind of selfish and reserved where, they want to enjoy their selfness. This point will help to make them more socialize and more happy.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

I found some ideas very new for me and some are I already learned but not noticed well. These ideas are very useful in my life to bring positive changes, to be more optimistic towards my goal. Like I use to writhe in previous assignment I can share those golden ideas with my friends’ family and relatives.

4. Quotes: Are there any statements which the author made that particularly got your attention? If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

“Yes there is a statement in this book which is by Tom Landry, which makes me think very seriously and I noted that statement in very big latter and I also pasted that in front of my reading desk; “Setting a goal is not the main thing it is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with the plan.”
This is something I have to keep in my mind, I sometime find myself tired of trying and sometime I go beyond my focus. I make so many goals but I am kind of loose in time managing, so from the day I had pasted this statement, I always set a goal per day and in the end of the day I meet those goals.
