Please describe your vision of a world that works for everyone.
A world that work for everyone is a world where by all people are equal, and treated fairly, in this world women are being considered to be just domestic workers, not given serious positions in the world where men dominate, in the world how many women are presidents?, you can be able to count them, but for the men they dominate the world, we had girl child advocacy for them to be empowered after being empowered, they need employment or set up business so that the impact of empowerment can be seen, but still that is far from the truth, we need to treat each and everybody equally even when it comes to power sharing.
What do you see as the most pressing problems facing the world today?
The most pressing problem facing the world today is greed and self centered everywhere you good people are greed and that is why in other countries especially developing countries it is taking so long for them to develop, because of greed and corruption, one person wants to own the world, using all means and without caring about others.
Racial discrimination is evident when you go to other country where you do not belong the first question you get is where do you come from, what is your name, if you are in a local place and the need sir name because that sets you on a particular ethnicity, so that they may know how to treat you. if you go to other eateries you will see the racial treatments, eateries meant for specific race and community, we have planted this behavior even in our homes, children are discriminated in the house a father will prefer certain kids unlike the others same to the mother, those kids who are doing well, will be treated in a more respectable manner than those who are doing badly, you will hear them saying my elder son is a doctor and working in a big hospital , the second one a pilot working in a flying firm and the third one who doesn’t have a job or means he is not even introduced to the parents friend, because for them he is a failure and a disgrace to the community.
How do you feel these problems could best be solved?
This problems could best be solved by acting, we preach water and drink water not other way round if we want to empower women lets give them opportunities to exercise what they have been empowered, also we are all human and created by God we should treat each other equally without discrimination , let all people be treated fairly that is even in our homes, give all children chances of being equal and also respect them be it they are working or not, we cannot have same work all of us but we can be empowered to be good in whatever we are doing.
Profile
My name is Sharon Shiko a business lady selling, selling second hand clothes at a place called Gikomba in Kenya Nairobi city, I joined college and did tailoring and dress making. After finishing my course, I didn’t get employed tried to look for a job but it was hard to get one, I wanted to start my own dressing making firm but it was expensive for me to acquire the required capital to purchase those machines and I ended up starting selling second had clothes which I have sold for the last 25 years. They have changed my life and thinking, whereby even if you have done a course or graduated in a different field once there is no work just create one even if it is not in your career way. If I had to wait to be employed today I could be a very miserable person who cannot put food on the table and my children could be begging on the street but through hard work I have managed to educate my three children in a prestigious schools like any other person without being a burden to other people, I have also employed six girls who work with me and I am paying them well to sustain their families we can do what we want to change this world.
I could like to participate in this program so that I can increase my skills both in my business and also now how to handle people in different places, it will also help me teacher other fellow women in my women group which I am the chair lady, this is a perfect tool to make me a good leader and visionary one since am also in the coming days want be a politician and do thing right compared to other politician who do things in a wrong way.
