Please describe your vision of a world that works for everyone.

A world that works for everybody is a world that women are respected, and given equal opportunity in the society, we have few women in top leadership positions, in the world the women who are president in different countries are few, and that is why we need to give women opportunity to lead and be part of the discussion making, it is unfair how women are treated, in Africa a women is defined as an object or a machine that her purpose is to give birth, and take care of the children in the house, we need to be given opportunities to show the world that we are capable to lead the world if we can take care of the house and the children then we should be treated in a more better way.

What do you see as the most pressing problems facing the world today? Most of the pressing issues, in the world is corruption, this is a killer problem in the world when people steal money made for medication they kill the people who could have received medication and they could be alive, also when they steal money made for schools they make most of the students drop out of school and at the end we have illiterate people, when they steal money made for construction of the roads they kill people because the roads become impassable, and will make people die when probably being rushed to hospital and transportation of foods will not be easy making food rot on the way.

How do you feel these problems could best be solved?
Corruption should be declared a world problem and should be treated with painful outcome, we need to be more serious and punish people who are corrupt no matter their status, once we do that we will save a lot of issues, people should be accountable to the wrong they do, we need to make it a rule that once you are given a task or public funds they are monitored and evaluated to the end because most of the projects have been stalled due to corruption, we are given a budget of what as been accomplished but in the ground things are different, our laws should be more strict and harsh to the corrupt individuals once found corrupt you should be punished without mercy and sympathy, travelling caution should be made in place for those who are corrupt not to run away with the stolen money life style audit should be mandatory to all public servant and be cleared before seeking for any public office.

Profile
I am Mercy Mwende born and raised in the hills of Kilimabogo, Machakos county. I am the first born from a family of 12 children 5 girls 7 boys.  I am a mother and wife; I have 4 children.  I did not want to have many children like my parents.  While growing up we had to scramble for resources, because we were many.  My father was a peasant farmer, and it was difficult for him to feed us, even clothing going to school it was a challenge, my mother had to do all sorts of work for us to get food to eat. From that experience I vowed that I will not have many children.  I wanted a reasonable number so that I can give the best to my children what I lacked during my growing up.  My children would not lack, in fact I only wanted two children but after discussing with my husband we settled to have four children, of which I was not very comfortable but for the peace to prevail I have four children.

I am a business lady dealing with cosmetic supply and delivery in different counties.  Through my business I have employed six sales ladies whom we work with to make my work easy, this business has changed my world and made me meet with different personalities in the different position. we need to empower our children and know what exactly they are best in life, my parents wanted me to be a doctor even if sciences were not my best subject but they wanted me to be a doctor especially being the first born in the family and in my side I wanted to be a business lady. I knew the only way to make money faster is by selling something and I followed my passion I had to convince my parents at that early age though it was not easy for them to accept.

I would like to participate in this program so I can train others in leadership issues and also I can empower myself  because leadership is not only being a politician but I can also have those skills in my business and in my home we need leadership skills to train our children and to make sure that we have best tips in guiding our children.  We have several women groups here in Kenya where I am one of the members in those groups. This training will help me to make our group more focused and open minded in that it can grow in a positive manner. This program will not only help me but many people whom I deal with business needs leadership skills because you deal with different people.
