Please describe your vision of a world that works for everyone.
My vision of a world that works for everyone is one where equality, justice, and sustainability are foundational principles. In this world, everyone has access to basic needs such as education, healthcare, and clean water. Communities are inclusive and diverse, and individuals are empowered to reach their full potential. Collaboration and innovation drive solutions to global challenges, ensuring a thriving planet for future generations.

What do you see as the most pressing problems facing the world today?
The most pressing problems facing the world today are multifaceted and interconnected, requiring urgent and comprehensive solutions. Climate change is perhaps the most critical issue, as it impacts every aspect of life on Earth, from extreme weather events to rising sea levels, threatening ecosystems and human livelihoods. Addressing climate change demands immediate action to reduce carbon emissions, transition to renewable energy sources, and promote sustainable practices globally.

Another significant problem is inequality, which manifests in various forms such as economic disparity, racial discrimination, and gender inequity. These inequalities hinder social progress and perpetuate cycles of poverty and injustice. Ensuring equal opportunities and access to resources for all individuals is essential for creating a fair and just society

Furthermore, political instability and conflicts continue to cause widespread suffering and displacement. Promoting peace, diplomacy, and human rights is crucial for addressing these issues and fostering global stability.

Tackling these pressing problems requires a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach and a commitment to long-term, sustainable solutions.
How do you feel these problems could best be solved? (Minimum 100 words)
Solving these pressing global problems requires a multifaceted and collaborative approach. For climate change, a combination of stringent regulations on carbon emissions, widespread adoption of renewable energy, and global agreements like the Paris Accord are essential. Governments, businesses, and individuals must work together to promote sustainable practices and innovation in green technology.

Addressing inequality involves implementing policies that ensure equal access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Social justice initiatives, anti-discrimination laws, and community programs can help bridge gaps and foster inclusivity.

Global health challenges can be mitigated through robust international cooperation, investment in healthcare infrastructure, and ensuring equitable distribution of medical resources and vaccines. Strengthening global health systems and fostering research and development are crucial.

Promoting peace and stability requires diplomatic efforts, conflict resolution mechanisms, and supporting human rights. International organizations and alliances must play active roles in mediating conflicts and providing humanitarian aid.

Collectively, these approaches require strong leadership, political will, and active participation from all sectors of society to create a sustainable, equitable, and healthy world.

Profile
I am Samuel Joshua Baba, an experienced Electrical and Electronic Engineer with a robust background in designing, managing, and coordinating telecommunications and solar sites. My journey in engineering is driven by a passion for renewable energy and a commitment to sustainable development, particularly in underserved rural communities. My professional trajectory has equipped me with a diverse skill set, including project management, maintenance of diesel generators, and photovoltaic (PV) systems, all underpinned by strong leadership and communication skills.

My educational background includes a Higher National Diploma in Electrical Electronic Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna State. I have also pursued various certifications to enhance my expertise, such as the International Project Management Professional, Leadership Certificate from YALI Network Africa, and specialized training in database design and management. These academic pursuits have provided a solid foundation for my practical experience in the field.

In my current role as a Field Service Engineer at Jaza Energy, I oversee the performance of hub energy systems across the region to prevent downtime and ensure efficient operation. My responsibilities include daily maintenance, installation, and commissioning of solar equipment, testing and repairing defective products, and carrying out planned preventive maintenance on solar systems at telecommunication sites. A significant achievement in this role was leading the supervision and installation of over 100 kW of solar systems for telecommunication sites, transitioning them into hybrid setups and eliminating reliance on diesel generator

In addition to my technical roles, I have held supervisory positions, such as at Freedom Foods Limited, where I coordinated activities related to the production of bakery products and trained new workers. This experience further developed my leadership and organizational skills.

One of my most impactful projects was during my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Ecomarine Terminal in Calabar. I successfully supervised the delivery of a 10.64kWp solar off-grid solution to power a rural community, significantly improving their quality of life. I also organized an outreach program for corp members, promoting proper hygiene practices among school students in Calabar, demonstrating my commitment to community service.

The most pressing problems facing the world today, such as climate change, inequality, global health challenges, and political instability, require comprehensive and collaborative solutions. My vision for addressing these issues involves stringent regulations on carbon emissions, widespread adoption of renewable energy, and global cooperation. I believe in the power of education, healthcare access, and economic opportunities to bridge inequalities. My professional and personal experiences have equipped me to contribute to these solutions through innovative energy management, sustainable practices, and leadership.

In summary, my career as an Electrical and Electronic Engineer is characterized by a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to sustainable development. I am dedicated to driving positive change in the energy sector and contributing to a world that works for everyone.
