Please describe your vision of a world that works for everyone.
My vision of a world that works for everyone is one built on fairness, dignity, and shared responsibility. In such a world, all people have equal access to quality education, healthcare, and decent employment, regardless of their background or location. Economic growth is inclusive and sustainable, reducing poverty and inequality rather than widening them. Governments and institutions are transparent, accountable, and guided by the rule of law. Environmental resources are protected for future generations, and development respects the balance between people and nature. Peaceful cooperation replaces conflict, and diversity is respected as a strength. In this world, technology and innovation are used ethically to improve lives, empower communities, and ensure that no one is left behind.
What do you see as the most pressing problems facing the world today? The world today faces several interconnected and pressing problems that threaten human well-being, stability, and sustainable development. One of the most urgent challenges is “Climate Change,” which is causing extreme weather events, food insecurity, water scarcity, and displacement of populations. Closely linked to this is “Environmental Degradation,” including deforestation, pollution, and loss of biodiversity, all of which undermine ecosystems and livelihoods.
Another major problem is “Global Inequality,” both within and between countries. Many people still lack access to quality education, healthcare, decent employment, and basic infrastructure, while wealth and opportunities remain concentrated in a few hands. “Poverty and Unemployment,” especially among youth, continue to fuel social unrest and migration.
In addition, the world is facing “Geopolitical conflicts and Insecurity” which lead to humanitarian crises, refugee movements, and economic instability. “Public Health Challenges,” highlighted by recent pandemics, have shown weaknesses in health systems and global cooperation. Finally, “Rapid Technological Change,” while beneficial, raises concerns about job displacement, data privacy, and ethical governance. Addressing these problems requires coordinated global action, strong leadership, and inclusive policies.
How do you feel these problems could best be solved?
The world’s most pressing problems can best be solved through a combination of strong leadership, global cooperation, and inclusive policies that put people at the center of development. Governments must work together across borders to address challenges such as climate change, pandemics, and insecurity, since these issues do not respect national boundaries. Effective solutions require evidence-based policymaking, investment in education, healthcare, and sustainable infrastructure, and the promotion of green and resilient economies.
Reducing inequality and poverty demands fair economic systems, job creation, and social protection for vulnerable groups, especially youth and women. Good governance, transparency, and respect for the rule of law are essential to build public trust and reduce corruption. At the same time, individuals, civil society, and the private sector must play active roles by adopting responsible practices, embracing innovation, and promoting social cohesion. When cooperation, accountability, and shared responsibility guide action, sustainable solutions become achievable.
Profile
I am a committed public servant and postgraduate student with a strong passion for institutional development, ethical leadership, and socio-economic transformation. I currently serve as a Customs Officer at the Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), stationed at Gikondo Customs Operations, where I am actively involved in trade facilitation, revenue protection, and the enforcement of customs laws and procedures. This role has provided me with hands-on experience in customs operations, compliance, risk management, and stakeholder coordination within a highly regulated and performance-driven environment.
My professional experience in customs administration has strengthened my understanding of the critical role that effective border management and revenue collection play in national development, regional trade integration, and economic stability. On a daily basis, I apply customs laws and procedures, analyze documentation, manage operational risks, and interact with traders, clearing agents, and partner government institutions. These responsibilities have enhanced my attention to detail, decision-making skills, and ability to work under pressure while upholding integrity and professionalism.
Academically, I am an MBA student specializing in Project Management Department under the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Economics. Through my postgraduate studies, I am developing advanced competencies in project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, risk management, and strategic resource allocation. This academic journey is equipping me with analytical and managerial skills that complement my professional experience in public service, particularly in managing complex projects and institutional initiatives.
I also hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, specialized in Finance, from the University of Rwanda. This foundational academic background provided me with solid knowledge in financial management, accounting, economics, investment analysis, and organizational management. My training in finance has been particularly valuable in understanding revenue systems, financial controls, budgeting, and the economic implications of policy and operational decisions within public institutions.
I consider myself a disciplined, self-motivated, and results-oriented individual who values integrity, accountability, and continuous learning. I am deeply interested in public sector reform, project management, risk management, and policy implementation. I believe that strong institutions are built on competent human capital, ethical leadership, and efficient systems, and I strive to embody these values in both my professional and academic pursuits.
Throughout my career and studies, I have developed the ability to balance operational responsibilities with strategic thinking. I work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and I value collaboration as a key driver of sustainable results. I am adaptable and open to learning, recognizing that public administration, global trade, and project management practices continue to evolve in response to technological advancement and global challenges.
Beyond my professional and academic commitments, I am motivated by a desire to contribute to a more inclusive, transparent, and well-governed society. I am particularly passionate about youth empowerment, capacity building, and ethical leadership, and I believe that sustainable development requires individuals who are committed to service, responsibility, and lifelong learning.
In summary, I am a dedicated Customs Officer, MBA student in Project Management, and graduate in Business Administration (Finance) with practical experience in public service and a strong academic foundation. I aspire to grow into positions of greater responsibility where I can contribute effectively to institutional performance, project success, and national development.
