The Power of the Mind
Anastasia Elebiju (Nigeria)
The Power of the Mind is centered on how we take control of our mind. He talked about neuroplasticity, which is a process which we rewire our thoughts to be positive to see things differently. Your thoughts help you create the kind of life that you want, and your unconscious mind works and controls your belief. So if I work on my mind and take control of it, I can be in charge of my mind; being in charge of my life.
Here are some of the key points I found to be most important:
Neuroplasticity. This idea caught my attention because it is highly scientific in a way in which the brain has the ability to form and recognize and make connections; especially in response to learning new experiences. Neuroplasticity offers real hope.
Tap into your wisdom, you must acknowledge its presence. This idea caught my attention because it made emphasis on effectively assessing and using my inner knowledge, understanding and insight, I must recognize and accept that I possess this wisdom. This is in a way talking about the importance of self awareness and self belief. Without acknowledging that I have valuable experiences, thoughts, or insights to draw from, it becomes difficult to trust or rely on my inner guidance.
This idea got my attention again because, two, because I know that the kind of person I am, I was before, the kind of person I am before. If I am in the midst of people and they are sharing ideas, I always hold back my ideas thinking it’s not good enough or maybe it will not be accepted. When I realized myself, I took away fears and doubts and I began to share, and I began to share.
Reliving your mind for unshakable confidence. This idea got my attention because confidence is key as a leader, and this face and this phrase can be interpreted as letting go of rigid or overbearing sense of certainty there might cloud judgment or hinder growth. This idea suggests that I free my mind or refresh my mind from doubts, fears, or mental burdens to cultivate a strong and unwavering sense of self assurance. This idea means that I clear my mind of negative thoughts and create a mental clarity which will allow me to build confidence.
Foster positive self. This idea got my attention because fostering positive self is key to nurture and cultivate a healthy, optimistic and empowering relationship with yourself. This involves actions and mindset that promote self acceptance, self compassion, and self confidence of which it can include: Practicing self love, this is treating yourself with kindness and understanding even if you make mistakes. Building awareness, this is reflecting on your strengths, values, and areas of growth. Every day encouraging positive self talk. Here I am replacing negative thoughts with affirmations or constructive feedback.
Visualize your success. This idea got my attention because in all my studies at IIGL, I have always been taught to picture the future and see myself as unique. If possible, make a picture of it and have it placed in your room and take a look at it every day to remind you to stay focused. This idea also means to mentally imagine myself achieving my goals or desired outcomes, it involves creating vivid and detailed picture of what success looks like and feels like, using your imagination to see yourself overcoming challenges and reaching milestones when you, when you practice it, it can help by boosting motivation.

What Others Are Saying
Bernard Ndhlovu (Zimbabwe)
How have You Changed?
Joining and being part of IIGL studies has impacted my personal life in an amazing way and it has helped me to develop my leadership capacity, with this essay I will attempt to explain step by step what I have learnt and share how the studies have transformed my life. With a Bible school background, sometimes one might think that they have been fully equipped for ministry work. It is easy for one to assume that they are ready to fully execute their ministerial duties without realizing that there is always room for improvement. During my discussion with one of my leadership mentors when he was enquiring about my theological accomplishments he suggested that I should try something different from theology and him being part of the IIGL he guided me to join the program. Since the day I joined IIGL it has been a wonderful journey and a life transforming experience for me. Below are some of the changes I have noticed:
The Impact of Personal Vision.
During the registration process when I was asked to describe my vision of the world that works for everyone, that was a place of shift and turning point for me. I realized that I should not only look at the life from my small corner, but I should think globally. On that day I made a decision to look at life globally, that on its own changed my perception, I began to look at the world as a global village.
Mindset Sets The Pace
When I finished enrolment the books which followed as introductory books were designed to empower and develop me for my vision and impact. One of the books I gleaned a lot which was designed to give me what I would call a leader’s mindset, the book titled “As a Man Thinketh,” it changed my life because it dealt extensively with the subject of mindset and perception. Carefully and purposefully going through the pages of that particular book I understood that my mindset sets the pace, the tone of success or failure, depending on how you choose to use it. So when I continuously allow positive thoughts to be my dominant thoughts I can shape my actions and form a life of specific and consistent character. When I read that book I was empowered to be a creator of circumstances rather than living as a creature of circumstances.
Listening To Understand
Through this institute I have learned the definition and the proper ways healthy communication to maintain meaningful relationships. When I read nonviolent communication I also learnedt the other important aspect of communication, as I have highlighted above that one of the things I do is preaching, so the primary responsibility of the preacher is to skillfully explain and expound scripture, however there’s another side of communication which has to do with connecting with people, nonviolent communication becomes key.
Busyness Versus Productivity
Going through the pages of this book of Leadership for Dummies, I also found that I need to furiously avoid being a busy fool. I learned that there is a difference between activity and producing the expected results. This made me to understand that it’s not every activity which can be equated to productivity. I have been thinking deeply about avoiding being a busy fool, by evaluating my work and structuring my works for productivity, so that am not trapped in activity without productivity.
Unlimited Power
The author of Unlimited Power explains that all people who become great they had great faith. This resonates with me because the bible is a book of men and women who did great works through faith. I had to understand that it takes great faith to have great results. This challenged me take time to study men and women who did great works through faith and learn how they did what they did.
What are Students are Reading
Leading in a VUCA World (Ebook)
This open access book brings together works by specialists from different disciplines and continents to reflect on the nexus between leadership, spirituality and discernment, particularly with regard to a world that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA). The book spells out, first of all, what our VUCA world entails, and how it affects businesses, organizations, and societies as a whole. Secondly, the book develops new perspectives on the processes of leadership, spirituality, and discernment, particularly in this VUCA context. These perspectives are interdisciplinary in nature, and are informed by e.g. management studies, leadership theory, philosophy, and theology.

Meet Our New Students
There was 1 new student this month.
Zawadi Munyao (Kenya)
Zawadi is a Swahili name that means gift/present, from the information I get from my parents, they stayed for a log time without getting a child so when my mother become pregnant it was a miracle because she was termed a barren woman, and she said this is a gift from God and that is how I got my name Zawadi; gift from God.

Make A Difference
Dream Team 22
Please join Dream Team 22 as our goal is to have 22 people contributing $22 per month. We understand that money is energy and that to sustain and build IIGL we need a lot of people pouring their energy into this endeavor on a regular basis. We also know that not everyone can afford to commit $22 a month – especially our students, who live in countries with economies in which this amount can be equal to a weeks’ salary. So we are offering two options for those who wish to become a part of the Dream Team. One can commit to a $22 a month contribution or to spending 22 seconds each day holding the vision of IIGL becoming financially sustainable by the end of 2025!
Please join the Dream Team and help us create an energetic foundation to support the transformational work of IIGL! You can really make a difference in the world by making a modest contribution of time or money. To make the $22 a month commitment or a one time donation, click the link below.
