We closed the Sanctuary on November 15th and won’t be reopening until our buildings are all brought up to codes. It remains to be seen when that will happen. I have set the intention that a new owner will emerge who has the resources, energy and vision to steward the Sanctuary into it’s next incarnation so that it will reopen, renewed, and continue to serve guests who are seeking some time apart in nature. Hopefully that will take place in 2024. I am glad I began this journey because the story has changed. When I got my first book As a Man Thinketh, it was a great game changer for me at that point, because I have to loose touch with so many things of life, the book was like a medicine to my body and my soul. I began to see things differently, my thought patterns changed from one of negative energy to positive and of hope. When I got married in 2016/2017, I had lots of hope about how am going to live and have a better life, but this became mere dream as my husband suggested that we moved close to where our fish farm is which was outskirt of town and houses were less expensive, but this affected me in the aspect of getting a job and this made me struggle, since the income is only from one source which was not even enough to sustain the family. This made me live a sad life for so long having lived in that same location for four years and having kids made it more difficult to move out of the location. But when I started IIGL in 2021, I began to see my environment in a more different way, I seized the opportunity of learning a trade. It wasn’t easy as my kids were still small and I had no nanny, but something in me was pushing me. Somehow in 2021 still God was so kind, we relocated to the capital city and things started changing and it is still changing. IIGL has made me see things in a different way. The way I communicate with people, my belief system, my leadership skills and abilities in working places has really changed even my dream to become a clinical psychologist is gradually gaining ground in my life as I have learned goal setting and how to achieve it. This has helped me to create and set goals and have plans on how to achieve them.

There are some areas IIGL has changed about me:

First, my view of the world: IIGL changed my view of the world. The way I saw and viewed the world four years ago is not the same as today. All the books I read in my level one assessment really changed my life and helped me to become a better person. From books like As a Man Thinketh, Jonathan Livingston Seagul, PsychoCybernetics, how to make friends to mention a few. All these books were a game changer for how I perceived the world to be. My personality and interactions with others changed, I became a more understanding person, I learned how to relate with people the most and those books helped shape my mind to become a better person. I now view the world as a small village where we need each other for a better living. Great relationships matter in life and it is necessary to keep them handy as no man is an island.

Second, Responding to things: most of the time before I started this study, I react to unpleasant things the way they come, thereby leaving me heartbroken or regretting my actions afterwards. My study with IIGL has changed that I have now realized that I don’t have to use the same energy some situations present themselves, I can use another approach to solve the situation.

Third, my belief system: my belief system has really changed, I have become more intentional about what I believe in. IIGL has made me believe that everything is possible, that I can achieve it if I believe in it, even if I cannot see it yet, so far as I have had it in my thoughts I should believe and it will come to pass. Before IIGL I used to have fears, I worry over every little thing, even had to cancel some thoughts when it comes to mind because I used to believe they are way bigger than me, I will not be able to achieve it, but with this study I have realized that everything started with a thought and believe, just start it and you will get there.

(Anastasia is a Level Four Student).

What are Students are Reading

Crucial Conversations

The book that revolutionized business communications has been updated for today’s workplace. Crucial Conversations provides powerful skills to ensure every conversation especially difficult ones leads to the results you want.
