It is also part of the IIGL Level Two curriculum!

Step 1: Dream – What do I want?
Whatever form of success you dream of, goal mapping can help you to achieve it.
Wikipedia explains dream as a succession of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that usually occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. A dream is an inspiring picture of the future that energizes your mind, will and emotions, empowering you to do everything you can to achieve it. Take a look at many of the things that people pursue or try to achieve in their lives:

Day dreams: Distractions from current work.
Pie-in-the-Sky Dreams: Wild ideas with no strategy or basis in reality.
Bad Dreams: Worries that breed fear and paralysis.
Idealistic Dreams: The way the world would be if you were in charge.
Vicarious Dreams: Dreams lived through others.
Romantic Dreams: Belief that some person will make you happy.
Career Dreams: Belief that career success will make you happy.
Destination Dreams: Belief that a position, title or award will make you happy.
Material Dreams: belief that wealth or possessions will make you happy.

7 Steps to Achieve Your Dream

Step 1: Dream it.
Everything begins in the mind. Every great achievement began in the mind of one person.
They dared to dream, to believe that it was possible. Take some time to allow yourself to ask
“What if?” Think big. Do not let negative thinking discourage you. You want to be a
“dreamer.” Dream of the possibilities for yourself, your family and for others. If you had a
dream that you let grow cold, re-ignite the dream! Fan the flames. Life is too short to let it go.

Step 2: Believe It.
Yes, your dream needs to be big. It needs to be something that is seemingly beyond your capabilities. But it also must be believable, attainable and realistic. You must be able to say that if certain things take place, if others help, if you work hard enough, though it is a big dream, it can still be done.

Step 3: See It.
Great achievers have a habit. They “see” things. They picture themselves walking around
their office as the C.E.O in their new $25 million office, even while they are sitting on a
folding chair in their garage. Great free-throw shooters in a Basketball competition picture the ball going through the basket. PGA golfers picture the ball going straight down the fairway. World-class speakers picture themselves speaking with energy, strategy and emotion. All of this grooms the mind to control the body to carry out the dream.

Step 4: Tell it.
One reason many dreams never go anywhere is because the dreamer keeps it all to himself. It is a quiet dream that only lives inside of his mind. One who wants to achieve one’s dream should tell that dream to friends and colleagues. We begin to believe it more and more. If we are talking about it then it must be possible. Another reason to share dreams: It holds us accountable. When we inform others; mentors, mentees, friends and colleagues, it spurs us on to actually doing it, so we don’t look foolish or unserious before them.

Step 5: Plan it.
Every dream must take the form of a plan. The old saying that you “get what you plan for” is so true. Your dream won’t just happen. You need to sit down, on a regular basis, and plan out your strategy for achieving the dream. Think through all of the details. Break the whole plan down into small, workable parts. Then set a time frame for accomplishing each task on your “dream plan.”

Step 6: Work it.
While some people are busy having fun or sitting on their sofas watching movies all day,
achievers are working on their goals achieving their dreams. There is this equation that I
work with: Your short-term tasks, multiplied by time, equal your long-term accomplishments. If you work on it each day, eventually you will achieve your dream.

Step 7: Enjoy it.
When you have reached your goal and you are living your dream, be sure to enjoy it. In fact, enjoy the trip, too. Give yourself some rewards along the way. Give yourself a huge reward when you get there. Help others enjoy it. Be gracious and generous. Use your dream to better the life of others. Then go back to No. 1. And dream a little bigger this time!

What Others Are Saying

What have I Learned?

Erasmus Rwinkesha (Rwanda)
Erasmusrwinkesha@gmail.com

The journey I took within these two levels I completed in IIGL taught me how to harness the tremendous potentials that are in my mind. It is in this journey that I learned 17 principles of personal achievement. These principles changed my mind unlike before. I do apply them in my plans at home, at work, in meetings when giving ideas in different fields or aspects of life.

The IIGL books I read have increased my steadiness when want to do something because I first reflect to the principles that are in my mind looking for the perfection of the action to be done. I do ask myself what is the definite purpose of doing so and so. In understanding the purpose, this opens for opportunities. I have acquired a tremendous improvement in being responsible. At work where I spend much time with my workmates, I do take serious responsibility. I have discovered that I am responsible to create or start a business of my wife and confidently started saving for it and with a definite purpose. I realized that definite purpose has built confidence in me and discovered that two heads are better than one; thus the mastermind alliance. This due to the fact that when I work alone in as far as a job that brings an income to the family is concerned, this cannot satisfy our needs as expected. Basing on the 17 principles of success by Napoleon Hill I decided to plan with my spouse to plan for a business to diversify the risk after realizing that it is not good to put all eggs in one basket. We should think deep. Brian Tracy in his books gives different examples of laws and among them we have the law of attraction. What is manifested in the external world starts in the inner world. IIGL indeed developed in me how to change from negative mental attitude to negative attitude.

IIGL taught me the importance of flexibility in life that is why I changed my attitude I had before of thinking that my wife had to remain at home looking for the children only little knowing that if she does something on addition what I earn on monthly basis, can bring more achievements to our family hence affording to pay school for our children, attaining good health, and other family requirements. I also learned that if one establishes a goal and at the end of the day, he /she doesn’t achieve it as expected, can re-establish it without giving up, should be put on paper. As Brian Tracy wrote in his book of maximum achievement, “one can’t hit a target he doesn’t see.”

What are Students are Reading

The Law of Attraction ($5.75)
This book presents the powerful basics of the original Teachings of Abraham.
