In fact, our mind is the best vehicle for success when we understand how to use it. However, once we lose control of it, we fail at everything we do. Hence, it’s better to keep controlling it through creative and innovative thoughts because they will definitely lead us to the light at the end of the tunnel.

2. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. A person is literally what she thinks, her character being the complete sum of all her thoughts.

I totally agree with this statement, as I was once that bad person in my own eyes just because I thought so. I constantly had negative thoughts about myself throughout the day. You may wonder how thoughts have this magical power. I realized it the very day I started replacing these ideas with kind and gentle thoughts about myself. Surely, it wasn’t that simple because, at first, I was only faking it. For instance, I wrote beautiful affirmations about myself that I found in Louise Hay’s and Wayne Dyer’s books and tried to read them daily. Step by step, I replaced bad thoughts with positive ones. In the end, we are what we think.

ii. A noble and Godlike character is not a thing of favor or chance, but the natural result of continued effort in right thinking; the effect of long-cherished association with Godlike thoughts.

An example from my life for the first idea: I once thought that I was ugly, and everyone around me seemed to think the same; even telling me so. But the day I told myself that I was a beautiful princess, I never heard the word “ugly” again.

iii. A man’s mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must and will bring forth. If no useful seeds are planted in it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will take root and continue to grow.

This is indeed continuous work; something you must do throughout your life to strengthen your mind and allow it to flourish with great ideas. For instance, I believe I have had this mindset for more than ten years. I remember the day I was fed up with my colleagues’ behavior and wanted to quit my job because of a conflict I had. But in the end, I stayed at the job for more than ten years.
One morning, I told myself that I would remove the thought that my colleagues hated me and instead, I would adopt affirmative beliefs. Every single morning, I started repeating to myself: I love my friends, and they love me. Certainly, there were times when I felt differently, but I kept up the good work until I made it.

Nowadays, I feel like everyone at my job appreciates something about me. Even when I hear through the grapevine that they are talking behind my back, I let it go and keep a big smile on my face. I still have a long way to go before I reach my milestone—my secret, beautiful garden with flowers in every spot. But I believe that, with all the effort I am putting in, those negative thoughts will eventually fade away.

iv. As a progressive and evolving being, man is where he is that he may learn that he may grow; and as he learns the spiritual lesson which any circumstance contains for him, it passes away and gives place to other circumstances explained to me this idea

I remember that I was renting a home that I hated as hell, and always tried to alter it, but in vain. Back then, I used to read a bunch of self-help books, where I found always the idea that you should always love your things, treat well even though they are without feeling behaving with them and especially thinking about them in a good way is essential to move to another step in your life. Indeed, I started to fake the feeling that I loved my home, and even tried to buy beautiful furniture for it, clean it and even I thought about painting it. I think that a few more months after I change my mindset and thinking about that place I moved to a better one, and to much better one, and nowadays I own my own stunning apartment that I cherish a lot.

v. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. It is the result of long and patient effort in self-control.

Whenever I think about calm and a peaceful mind, meditation comes to my mind. I believe that the times I meditated or focused while praying were the moments when I could truly connect with myself. During these times, I could reflect on how connected I am to my ideas and decide how to approach the most difficult problems in my life. I began to see them as challenges or steps toward a better period in my life.

vi. The body is the servant of the mind. It obeys the operations of the mind, whether they be deliberately chosen or automatically expressed.

Indeed, everything that comes across our mind can become a reality. I think about illness and how it reflects what we think about ourselves. I am no expert in science or medicine, but I have witnessed many cases where people attract sickness because of their thoughts. However, I can give an example from my own life. I remember when the Corona virus first appeared, it was all around the world, but only those who were constantly thinking about it; even though they took all the precautions got sick. I have no explanation, but talking about myself, I was like, “Yeah, the pandemic is here, so what? I will only wear my mask, wash my hands as recommended, and that’s all.” Trust me, I never had it, even though it was around me. This is not the only instance; I was near people with tuberculosis, hepatitis, and even respiratory illnesses but never got them. In my mind, I focus on the best, not the worst.

vii. Circumstance does not make the man; it reveals him to himself.

This idea emphasizes how circumstances can teach us who we really are. That’s why sometimes we only know our true selves when we are nervous; it can be a test of all our past experiences. Patience cannot be tested on beautiful days, but it is revealed in harsh, tough moments. It shows us whether we have grown enough to survive or if we still need to work on ourselves and experience life’s lessons.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

I completely agree with the statement that we are what we think. In the future, I envision myself becoming the person I truly want to be by actively cultivating positive thoughts. I know that my mindset will be the key to achieving personal growth and success. Instead of letting self-doubt and negative thinking take over, I plan to nurture a mindset full of kindness, self-love, and optimism. With time, I believe I’ll notice that my inner transformation will directly impact how I see the world and how others perceive me as well.

As I reflect on the future, I see that developing a noble and Godlike character won’t happen by chance, but through consistent effort in thinking positively and aligning my thoughts with higher ideals. I anticipate that the more I consciously choose to think kindly and nobly, the more these qualities will naturally shape my character. It will be a continuous journey of refining my thoughts and building the person I aspire to become, not just through actions, but through the way I think and approach life’s challenges.

The idea of my mind being like a garden resonates with the future I’m aiming to create. I understand that cultivating positive thoughts is an ongoing process. In the future, I’ll be intentional about planting seeds of growth, self-improvement, and gratitude. I know that, just like any garden, my mind will require consistent care, attention, and effort. There will be moments when negative thoughts try to take root, but I’m determined to replace them with empowering beliefs that support my growth and vision for the future.
Looking ahead, I see challenges and circumstances as opportunities for learning and growth. Instead of resisting or resenting difficult situations, I aim to approach them with an open mind, ready to discover what lessons they have for me. Each experience, whether positive or negative, will help me evolve into a better version of myself. I believe that the more I learn from life’s lessons, the more resilient and adaptable I’ll become, ready to face new challenges with wisdom.

I also foresee that calmness of mind will be one of the treasures I continue to cultivate. I plan to integrate practices such as meditation, mindfulness, and reflection into my daily routine to maintain inner peace. These practices will help me stay focused, grounded, and clear-headed when facing future obstacles. I envision that by mastering the art of self-control and patience, I will be able to approach life with a calm and steady mind, no matter what comes my way.

The connection between the mind and body will continue to play a pivotal role in my health and well-being. I know that the thoughts I harbor can directly influence my physical state. In the future, I plan to keep my mind focused on health and vitality, visualizing myself as strong and capable. I believe that by maintaining a positive mindset, I will continue to enjoy good health and avoid unnecessary illness. The mind-body connection will be a powerful tool I’ll use to create the reality I desire.

Lastly, I am confident that I will always try to lead people to adopt the same mindset, at least those who believe in me, remembering that change starts with ourselves and spreads step by step.

4. Every one of us can be a Jonathan. However, it is up to us to nurture the Jonathan within us and fly high in the sky or suppress it the day it is born. Flying high can represent a skill we dream of mastering, such as public speaking. For example, all of us started as babies; speechless creatures and we learned step by step. Mahatma Gandhi, for instance, continued to develop this skill until his voice became immortal. Even though he has passed away, his name resonates as strongly as when he was alive. Indeed, Jonathan sometimes faced weakness and nearly gave up on his dream, but he maintained his motivation until the end. Not only did he achieve his dream, but he also helped others follow his remarkable path. Hence, we can create the leaders within us and help others follow in our footsteps.

2. Livingston Seagull was highly practicing to fly

Practice is the key to success. No matter how difficult or tricky the skill you’re practicing, it becomes easier with time. The more you practice, the more familiar you become with it. This reminds me of the first day I decided to take the IELTS exam at Band 7. In the beginning, practice felt like a heavy burden, and I had to force myself to read an article from the New York Times or listen to an Easy English podcast for even five minutes. However, through persistence, I managed to pass the IELTS at Band 7. Along the way, I transitioned from a B2 intermediate to a C1 level. The icing on the cake was that I became addicted to English; now I can’t go a day without reading, writing, listening, and speaking it.

ii. Most gulls don’t bother to learn more than the simplest facts of flight.

This idea implies the tendency to remain ordinary in order to stay within your comfort zone. I used to be happy sitting in front of the TV, scrolling through nonsense channels just to kill time, not realizing that I was actually killing my skills and becoming accustomed to laziness. Many people nowadays prefer simple tasks over innovative ones, so they don’t bother themselves with learning new skills or improving the ones they already have. Hence, if everyone among us thinks only about simple things, who’s going to get up and take action to boost our world?

iii. For the next few days he tried to behave like the other gulls.

Feeling depressed or demotivated can be a phase that you accept sometimes, but it’s not a problem as long as you keep going and motivate yourself. I remember that last year I was a little disappointed when the office decided not to upgrade me, even though I was doing a lot of work. As a result, I stopped learning and ended up doing the same mechanical job every day without enhancing my skills. In the end, I reminded myself that it was just a period of depression, and that I needed to get back on track and continue doing good work.

iv. Jonathan Livingston Seagull loved to fly

This emphasizes that we need to start doing the things we love. Jonathan loved flying, and that’s why he kept doing it and improving even at the price of being alone and isolated from others. However, in the end, he managed to bring other gulls to his side, inspiring them to follow his passion and become leaders themselves. As a result, choosing a goal that we love always leads to fruitful outcomes.

v. I Just Want to Know What I Can Do in the Air and What I Can’t

This point highlights how successful people use the SMART method to achieve their goals. Furthermore, I can give you an example from my own experience. Two months ago, I set a new professional goal to become a project manager. I decided to pursue a certification that would allow me to both learn project management from scratch and certify my knowledge. Instead of starting directly with the PMP certification, I chose to take the CAPM first and then work toward the PMP.

vi. Fletcher, you lost forty miles an hour in the entry! You have to be smooth! Firm but smooth, remember?

I apply this approach at work because being smooth and at the same time firm means being objective and flexible. I also use the sandwich method to apply this approach: I start my conversation by complimenting the colleague, then I try to be strict about the instructions, and in the end I finish with nice words highlighting my confidence in the person to do the best they can. It indeed depends not only on the person but also on the situations.

3. If so, how?

Indeed, we know many things theoretically, but when it comes to practice, we need regular reminders. This book served as a strong reminder for me, acting as a summary or takeaway from all the self-development books I’ve read so far. It taught me that no matter how distant my goal may seem, I can reach it through practice and by dividing it into small steps.

Furthermore, it highlights the drawbacks of getting too comfortable in our routine — merely eating, sleeping, and waiting. I also understood that depression and fatigue can be part of our success journey. While we need to accept them, we must ensure they don’t become parasites that make our dreams impossible.

The same applies to our loved ones. Yes, we must respect and teach them, but we should remain mindful if they unintentionally hinder our progress. We need to deal with such situations smartly. Loving our dreams, knowing exactly what they are, and being aware of our weaknesses can be vehicles for epic success. Finally, being both smooth and strict is key to leading a great and balanced life.

4. Well-known successful people built their amazing or epic success from scratch. For instance, in 2012, I was working with X organization, and the project I was working on was closed. We only need to prepare our mind through visualization, relaxation, and self-awareness, then our subconscious will not make the difference between reality and imagination, just as the elves in the Shoemaker story. At the end of the day, we will fulfill our dreams easily.

iii. Instead of trying to prove or disprove his point, I reminded myself that I am actively working on self-improvement. Nadia is always her beautiful self-image. The scene or the event is simply there to teach me something; a step toward success, not failure.

In my professional life, I’ve started changing how I see any step I once considered a failure or meaningless in shaping my experience. Even if it is not the secret, it is still the main idea the author was trying to explain to us from the beginning of the book till its end, where he insisted on squeezing our minds and bringing up the giant within us through 28 questions that have an amazing meaning whenever you ask them to yourself to indeed further grow the burning desire, which is the ultimate solution to gain not only material riches but also richness in all aspects of life.

2. Faith is the head chemist of the mind.

This ties directly to the previous one. I have a clear goal: to work remotely with one of my dream companies. I believe with all my heart that this is possible. That faith grows day by day. On this path, I have already achieved something I am proud of: I was offered a remote volunteering position without even applying. They contacted me and the offer aligned perfectly with my long-term goal. It’s a sign that faith truly activates the mind’s creative chemistry.

iii. Thoughts which are mixed with any of the feelings of emotions, constitute a magnetic force which attracts from the vibrations of the ether, other similar, or related thoughts.

This is where the burning desire lives. Let me be honest and share a bad experience to show the reality of this idea: I once had a painful sore throat. Recently, I remembered how hard that time was and just by thinking of it intensely and emotionally, I attracted the same experience again. I had to go to the emergency room before it got worse. This shows how powerful our thoughts are; they can even call back pain. That’s why we must watch them, reorient them, and fill them with healing energy instead.

iv. Life’s battles don’t always go to the stronger or faster man… but sooner or later, the man who wins is the man who thinks he can.

Everything starts in the mind. So I am trying to fully prepare for each exercise before moving to the next one. Some of them were as follows. Another exercise I started is reading out loud my vision on a daily basis.

The mastermind group is an exercise that tells us how surrounding yourself with like-minded people helps you reach your goal, as they can complement whatever you do not have or help you acquire a certain skill or knowledge. The exercise of defining our fear that holds us from being persistent and achieving our goals is another one. It ended that part of my argument was not wonderful, and it was something I was trying to work on: judging people. Yeah, I was judging someone without having any proof, and whenever my husband tried to correct this I refused. Actually, it wasn’t me it was the roadmap I was working on, how I am trying not to judge people. I tried to repeat this affirmation on a daily basis until one day the experience shifted from a nightmare to the best experience in my life. I don’t know if I am the only one, but this book pushed me to improve my thinking and helped me continue the journey toward my definite purpose, even on days when I feel lazy or unmotivated. Apply tests to information you encounter

I always believed that advice should only be given when asked for, but this book changed my mind through the idea of creating initiative. Without even thinking about it, I found myself calling someone who had moved to another country and offering help not with money or material things, but by advising them to join a program and connecting them with someone I knew there. That person was happy to receive this information. Maybe it will help a lot, maybe a little, but what caught my attention is that the person was waiting for any light in that new country. Maybe what I did was the light at the end of the tunnel and the hope she was waiting for, through PMA.

ii. Enthusiasm as gasoline

I was surprised to learn that enthusiasm can also be used for negative purposes. Even leaders like Hitler and Saddam succeeded through PMA, but the result was catastrophic. The lesson I learned is that PMA should never be applied to hurt others, because there is always an end to evil.

iii. Create initiative

This gave me a new way to interpret the information my mind receives. Always check the information, who is spreading it, and their motives. The book suggests a list of questions we can apply to any kind of information. I started applying this principle, and it really changed the way I receive information. It even helped me grow my critical thinking, which is essential nowadays when so much can be fake.

iv. If you would plant for eternity, plant ideas
Ideas are the core of a person’s life because they are everywhere, and if supported by imagination, they can fulfill any goal. By concentrating more and only keeping the ideas I love in my mind, I know I will reach my definite purpose.

v. Mastermind Alliances

It’s actually a brilliant idea that works really well, especially nowadays when you can connect with many mindsets from different cultures without leaving your place. It made me think about all the areas I want to improve in my life and look in my environment or online for people who can help me, while I can also help them improve an aspect of their lives. So far, I have joined a parenting mastermind, I am planning to create a spiritual mastermind, and I still need to join an investment (trading) mastermind.

vi. Success is something we build, not luck or a gift

I like this idea because, unlike some other authors who suggest that simply sitting in your place and attracting things can make you a better person, Napoleon Hill emphasizes that success requires effort. He highlights this “magic skill” not as a substitute for work, but as a way to accelerate the process of achieving what we aim for. So yes, I dream big, but I also put in consistent and determined effort to truly experience success.

vii. Time management

I liked how Napoleon Hill compared time to money; once it’s gone you can never bring it back. He advised that we should plan it very carefully and use it for important things, even classifying activities by their importance. The amazing thing is that I finally decided to plan my days before starting them, so I can use my time productively. For the moment, I only use traditional time management: writing activities on paper, assigning time to each one, and checking them off when they are done. This way, I feel the productivity of my day. I also try to write in a detailed manner about each activity, and I remain flexible if anything unexpected happens, I adjust the timing and switch tasks when necessary.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world?

As I mentioned earlier, the initiative idea already pushed me to act in a new way. I reached out to someone in need, and maybe I gave them a small light of hope. That experience showed me how important it is to act, not just think. Another lesson I use daily is testing the information I receive. By questioning the source and motives, I avoid blindly accepting everything. This has sharpened my critical thinking and helps me protect myself from false information, which is so important in today’s world. I would definitely adapt my style of life to these principles alongside the others to improve my thinking and also to help others with these brilliant ideas. All these ideas are really core to every successful person, so I’m planning to share them with my friends, colleagues, and family to make them spread and build good habits and attitudes.

4. Indeed, if we don’t connect action to planning, vision, and multiple consistent steps, then we are only dreaming instead of working toward fulfilling our dreams. In the past, I used to read self-help books like novels, applying exercises only for fun. That changed when I applied Atomic Habits’ principles while preparing for IELTS C1, and the magic happened; it worked. Since then, I vowed to read books with a structure, not just to show off. Three months later, I joined the IIGL program.

ii. Whenever you have a value, you don’t think twice when taking a decision.

iii. Questions truly stimulate thinking

Instead of just wondering, “Why is this happening to me?” We can ask empowering questions that help shift us from a negative state to a more productive and hopeful one. Good questions stimulate thinking, but negative questions, if not addressed, can stimulate blaming, bring back bad memories, and link bad emotions to experiences, creating unconscious files that can create problems in the future. Hence, we have to ask wise questions.

iv. Emotions are life’s drivers

If we use them wisely, we can achieve everything we aim for. However, if we allow negative emotions to control us, we might end up destroying our motivation and confidence. Happiness comes from within: It doesn’t need any external factors to exist. If you don’t raise your standards, you will be archived, at work or in personal life, and the world will keep moving with or without you. I used to question why I would learn Spanish, French, English, German, Chinese, and later Russian, instead of focusing on Arabic. One day, I realized I had a fixed mindset, pointing out others and forgetting the benefits of learning languages: opening to networking, learning cultures, and being able to read any book I wish. Now, before staying in my comfort zone, I ask what stops me, not what stops others.

vi. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

Dale Carnegie described 30 principles to win friends and influence people, every principle contains positive examples as well as negative ones that he mentioned just to show us the correct way to tackle them. The examples were taken from his own life, from famous people’s experiences such as Benjamin Franklin, Charles M. Schwab, and so on, and sometimes even from ordinary people. It is said: never judge a book by its cover; this book may seem at first like a professional guide. However, to me it’s not only practical for professional life, but also for our private and personal lives, even parents can still benefit from this great and immortal book.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. The principle of saving face was really a good one and proved to me that whenever I’m implementing it in my life I am not a hypocrite, but I am helping someone else to improve while preserving their ego.

I am not saying that I always do it, at the end of the day I am a human being, and sometimes I lose control and still point out mistakes. However, with all the principles in the book connected there are many ways that can help one guide others without humiliating or embarrassing them. Actually, we have a saying in Arabic: النصيحة على الملأ فضيحة “Advice in public is humiliation.” That matches exactly Dale Carnegie’s principle. An example from my life would be: whenever my son got a bad mark, he came to me really sad and said he was stupid. I thought, how could a little 5-year-old say this? It was hard to think how I could handle his feelings, and I was like, you know my son, mommy one day got a 0, yes a 0 in French. He said really? Yes, also mommy was one day a kid and she got 0. He was interested in the story and said and then? Then I tried to improve myself and now I speak French really well. “Does Mommy speak French very well?” He said yes and then forgot his bad feelings.

ii. Remember that a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.

It needs no explanation, just hear someone saying your name and you will know the power of telling someone by his name. I will give an example from my own life. I had someone in my life always telling me another name. It seems normal, but this person was someone I had known for several years, and you would never imagine how I feel whenever they change my name. I was always like, what happened? Is it that difficult? I kept repeating, “Nadia, Nadia is my name.” So this is an art that everyone can try to learn, but not force it.

iii. If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically.

Indeed, it makes sense whenever you admit your errors, because every one of us can make mistakes, but not acknowledging them makes things worse. Obviously, our ego sometimes makes us feel inferior if we say we were wrong, but let’s be sincere if you don’t admit your shortcomings, how would you fix them or how would you advance in life? I remember whenever I talked to someone in a bad manner or said wrong information, I would keep telling myself in my mind: let’s talk to the person, let’s say sorry. It feels hard, but guess what? You are more respected and loved when you are honest with yourself and others.

iv. Make the other person feel important and do it sincerely.

I guess that everybody on this earth has positive traits, so that’s the point: we are not required to say something that isn’t true about the person, but we may do a little effort to praise a good thing they do at least 1% better, so they can have a small hope and improve it. Let me share with you that in the beginning of learning Spanish I was trying hard to engage myself in conversations and also go to events with Spanish-speaking advanced people, and also native people. There are people that can neglect you because you’re not fluent as well as they are, and others avoid conversing with you, but I still had hope to become fluent in it. One day I crossed paths with a native speaker from America Latina, she was a colleague of mine, and one day she told me how surprised she was that I could speak all the languages I do speak, and that I am really fluent in Spanish. You know, she’s the expert in the language and she was still praising me. After all, I still haven’t discovered until now whether she was just saying it to encourage me, or for her as a non-Spanish speaker I was making a lot of effort to really communicate in the language. Whatever the reason, from that day on I believed that I am fluent in Spanish and never missed any conversation to show myself that I can do it. It never ended in conversations, I decided to have my master’s degree in migration and refugee care in that language, and also do all the exercises, the interventions in classes with well-known people in the field, and also give my graduation speech in that same language. Takeaways: please give people hopes, you would never know how your kind words would end with the person who receives them.

v. Dramatize your ideas.

It’s about making your story or anything you say compelling. I would say that this principle can be a good one for public speaking and attracting others’ attention for networking. Actually, I can’t remember examples from my life, but I definitely want to use it and share it with others.

vi. Don’t criticize.

I would say that this is the worst thing one can do, because destructive criticism, the kind that tears down instead of builds up, has to be eliminated from our speech. However, one should immunize himself against such behavior, because after all, not everyone on earth has read Dale Carnegie’s book to steer clear of such bad habits.

vii. Don’t complain.

To be honest we all complain. I complain, let me start with myself. But I think that the author means those people who live their life complaining, and for not being thankful for what they already have. They see those better than them and are never aware that there are people really poorer, sicker… than they are. Also, don’t condemn people. We can never be completely sure—sometimes we think we’re 100% right, but it turns out the other person is correct. That’s why we should avoid condemning without strong proof and always give the benefit of the doubt. For example, people once believed the Earth was flat.

3. It offers a clear summary of the ideas that IIGL aims to share. It is truly a mission-driven book. It begins with the story of the founder of this amazing program, who chose to be a hero rather than a victim. He used the challenges he faced especially being fired from his company as a stepping stone to build his own life. Today, he continues to positively impact the lives of many others.

What is brilliant about this book is that everyone who contributed to it is a leader, yet none of them is the same. Turning problems into Solutions

This something amazing I learned through all the books I have read so far, yes turning problems into solutions is a gift in itself and sometimes it goes beyond you and helps others solve their own problems. I think about Oprah Winfrey who turned all her suffering into a power that helped millions of people throughout her life. She inspires many people through her powerful transformation of her hard problem especially the rape she underwent in her childhood into a strength. IIGL indeed helps you to understand yourself first and then shine without limits such as all the contributors to this book.

ii. Our Dreams and Goals are within us

I came to realize that I had incredible creative powers to determine my future within the framework of the collective belief system and sometimes outside it. This reminds me that all our solutions, keys to our dreams and goals are within us ; we just need guidance to strive.

iii. Mentors
A mentor can teach you in a single moment what could have taken a lifetime to learn. This idea builds on the previous one: the mentor guides us and gives us shortcuts to fulfill whatever we dream, and sometimes even if we don’t achieve the goal we aim for, we still flourish during the process and shift our mindset. I remember when I was looking for a remote job to switch my current role I was not sure which path I had to take, and I looked for many programs to help me stand out and achieve that goal.

iv. Guidance
One day I asked chatGpt this question and he recommended the IIGL program to me and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read the curriculum; it was exactly the kind of guidance I was looking for so long. It’s that I haven’t continued looking for a remote job because I found my real burning desire while having this nice journey with IIGL.

v. IIGL is a Mastermind Group

We (IIGL) have the same vision for the world and many of the same values related to peace-building and leadership. This is indeed a pure mastermind leadership group that anyone can dream about. I’m really proud of myself that I belong to it.

vi. Changing Myself First

I then realized that I needed to change myself before I could change the world. I will confirm this through a verse of the Qur’an we have in Islam that says the same thing: “Indeed, Allah does not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.” This is a realization I had too, but it really needs a lot of continuous work, watching your ideas, your emotions, and then changing your perception and you will see the big change in your life, not people changing or circumstances changing, but your mindset shifting.
The IIGL assessment of 1500 words made me believe that I could even become an author. I am really inspired by this, as one of my goals is to write a book ; this is a sign and I found later another contributor saying almost the same thing, so this is for me the beginning of my author journey. An example from my life that helped me learn a habit and fix it is when I decided to read 200 books in one year, because I refused that people tell me that whenever you will be married and have kids, you will never read or travel or enjoy life. I wanted to prove to myself and push myself to quit the comfort zone for this noble skill or hobby. Since then I’ve become addicted to reading which really made my IIGL journey easier.

vii. SWOT Analysis

I had read about the SWOT analysis but never understood it until I joined IIGL. The same thing for me : IIGL made a lot of things in my life easier through all the books I’ve read so far and the best is yet to come.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you to create a better world? If so, how?

These lessons will help me practically in my daily personal life because they taught me that all the solutions and keys to my dreams and goals are already within me; I just need guidance to strive. They also remind me that I need to watch my thoughts, emotions, and perceptions because when my mindset shifts, my entire life changes. I learned the importance of turning problems into solutions, which is a gift that allows me to grow stronger every day. The habit I developed of reading 200 books showed me that when I step out of my comfort zone, I can build powerful habits that make my journey easier and more fulfilling.
These lessons also guide me in creating a better world, because I realized I need to change myself before trying to change anything around me, just as the Qur’anic verse says. Understanding myself first allows me to shine without limits and help others more effectively, just like the mentors and contributors in IIGL who turn challenges into opportunities for themselves and for others. The IIGL program taught me that mentors can give us shortcuts to growth, and through the journey I found my real burning desire, which is the first step toward contributing meaningfully. Being part of a mastermind leadership group that shares values about peace-building and leadership strengthens my belief that I can positively impact the world by growing, inspiring, and guiding others, just as others did for me.

4. Either you will look for a new skill or search for a similar one to improve and thrive in. Stephen Covey said that he had read many books before sharing all the valuable advice he offers. Furthermore, he did not only share theories, but also provided detailed explanations and examples, as well as real-life stories about himself and his clients. This is not an author who simply shares written advice; he clearly proves that it works. The Seven Habits is truly effective for everyone in this world, from young children to adults. At the end of each chapter, he gives three or four actions to take in order to apply the knowledge he shares. Without applying it, the reader will not experience any real impact, because practice is at the core of everything he teaches.

2. Begin at the end in mind

Whenever you have an issue to achieve something, do not see the problem itself, but look for the final result and then start searching what is real in your situation. This is a great explanation of the model used in coaching GROW, the G is the goal which definitely begins with the end in mind. In my actual journey to be an international coach, I started first to visualize myself in 5 years; this is the first thing I did.
Seek first to understand, then to be understood. This is 100% the equivalent of understanding the perception of the other, and by the other we mean every single person outside the circle of your control; the latter is only you. When I started using this concept, I witnessed a shift in others’ behaviour toward me, especially when I reflect first and do not react instantly. While I thought they changed and became nicer, they indeed haven’t done so; I tried to understand their maps.

ii. Win-Win principle

I love the story of the man who, to make his wife lose, forgot that he would lose too, when he decided to sell every single property at a cheap price, forgetting that he would drink from the same glass. It made me think that everyone can win, and there is always a third alternative and a synergistic way to see conflicts or any other challenging situation.

iii. We began to realize that if we wanted to change the situation, we first had to change ourselves. And to change ourselves effectively, we first had to change our perceptions.

This is something really easy to understand, but it took me a long time to implement it in my life, as we always have to sharpen it through reading and learning; if we stop, we will go back to the old pattern, which is a human character.

iv. Re-Scripting

Because we already live with many scripts that have been handed to us, the process of writing our own script is actually more a process of re-scripting or paradigm shifting of changing some of the basic paradigms that we already have. This can be practical if you define your roles, goals, mission, and values, review them every now and then, and focus on the internal change.

v. Avoid Blame!

Do not blame others because everyone is doing things, even the worst things, from their perception and map, thinking that they are doing good; the same context applies to us. The more we can see people in terms of their unseen potential, the more we can use our imagination rather than our memory, with our spouse, our children, our coworkers, or employees. good example of this is that someone can describe another person as an angel, the best person in this world, while another describes them as a challenging person. Sometimes this is not because of hypocrisy; in fact, the first one sees them this way and this is what they get, while the second sees them that way and that is what they get.

vi. Look at the half-full cup

Everyone has beautiful things within, while others focus on the bad sides.

vii. When the patient said that they could only see blurrily and that the glasses didn’t fit, the doctor refused to understand and kept showing off his glasses. This is definitely what happens when we refuse to see others’ perceptions and how they see the world. So let’s start diagnosing before any further steps.

3. Applying them in my own life, without trying to give advice that no one has asked for, would be a powerful strategy. Instead, the change will be reflected in my behavior and attitude. Then, people will naturally ask about the source of this shift. Felix Iziomoh, who wrote this book, writes from pure knowledge. First of all, he is a coach, and goal setting and exploration are purely coaching processes. Second, he is an IIGL graduate, which makes him someone who has truly grasped goal mapping and mastered many techniques. Therefore, he chose the seven most practical steps to help readers fulfill their dreams. Last but not least, he is a certified goal mapper from the Brian Mayne Foundation, and he forwarded this great guide, which further proves that Felix’s book is a must-read.

What makes the book particularly practical is the fact that it walks you step by step through the goal-mapping process, encouraging you to take a pen and start tracing your goals alongside Felix’s explanations. In addition, the book is supported by goal-mapping templates. I thought that there was only one way to set goals: write goals, cut images, and then take action. But this book stressed the point that goals are flexible. You can always update and follow them, and there is no specific time to set them or make a new resolution. You can set new objectives whenever you wish.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? I always give this example because it truly relates to this idea: I moved from a B2 level of English to C1 in less than one year, passed the IELTS, and achieved the results I wanted. Not only did I reach the level I aimed for, but English also helped me open new doors that would not have been possible otherwise. Thanks be to God.
I recently started an exercise called the dump mind, where I sit before going to bed and analyze one thought in a 15-minute process. A simple yet powerful example is that whenever I share knowledge with someone, I tend to remember that information forever. Then in 2021 I started a business, but it was challenging, and I reignited it. This year, I’m focused on starting it by the end of the year, and it will be a full success by the help of God. I acknowledge that the two previous attempts were never failures or procrastination, but key learnings that will lead to a great result by the end of the year.

iv. When you reach your goal and start living your dream, make sure to enjoy it.

Live in the present moment. The best approach is to learn from the past, live in the present, and plan for the future. Honestly, I sometimes struggle with this. Therefore, my focus is to work on this and make a conscious effort to enjoy the present moment.

I must acknowledge that it is still challenging for me to focus on the present moment because I am always planning for the future while living the present. However, it is not a repetition of these books, but rather a practical continuation with a clear step-by-step structure.

The writer insists that writing goals is the first and most important step to achieve them. He refers to studies from universities such as Harvard University and Yale University to show that written goals increase the chances of success. But writing goals is not enough. The difference between successful and unsuccessful people is that successful people act immediately, even if it is only one small step that brings them closer to their goal.

He also explains that one main goal can become the core of our life, especially if it is something we truly love and are not forced to do. Visualization is presented as a powerful tool to activate the subconscious mind and move us toward achievement. At the same time, he repeats that effort is the only thing we truly control, so we must work hard, learn continuously, develop new skills, and review our goals daily by rewriting them to make sure they still align with what we truly want. Therefore, the main idea of the book is that by clearly defining and writing our goals, taking full responsibility for our lives, and acting consistently with discipline and effort, we can intentionally create our own success.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one, using personal examples from your own life.

i. The starting point of all goal attainment is desire.

I personally find it very difficult to continue doing something I do not truly love, even if everyone around me is doing it. Last year, I decided to learn something new to completely change my career. After a lot of research, I thought Project Management could be the right path for me, especially since it is a trending and well-paid field. I invested significant time and money: I interviewed experts on LinkedIn, spoke with colleagues, watched many YouTube channels, enrolled in a Coursera course, and even planned to take a well-known certification exam.

However, deep inside, I kept feeling that this was not something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was pushing myself because it seemed like the “smart” choice, not because it was my true desire. Eventually, I decided to continue learning it as a skill, but I accepted that it was not my burning desire. When I later identified what I truly wanted, I felt relief and clarity. This experience taught me that without a real burning desire, it is almost impossible to stay committed long-term. Desire gives energy, direction, and meaning to effort.

ii. You must determine the price that you will have to pay to achieve it, and then get
busy paying that price.

In 2018, I decided to read a great number of books (200) not novels or short books, but real, deep books that challenge the mind. I took this decision because I wanted to make reading a lifelong habit and never finish a year without learning something new. I knew clearly what I wanted: growth, knowledge, and self-development. To be honest, it was not easy at all. The real price I had to pay was discipline. I had to reduce social media, stop binge-watching YouTube videos, and avoid scrolling through Shein and other distractions. It was tempting to choose comfort and entertainment, but I understood that growth requires sacrifice. Committing to reading opened opportunities for me and expanded my thinking in ways that wasting time online never could. This experience taught me that once you know what you want, you must be willing to pay the price for it.

iii. I later learned that when you accept complete responsibility for your life, you take the giant step from childhood to adulthood.

This year, I completely shifted from blaming circumstances to reflecting on my own reactions. I started journaling daily to analyze my thoughts and feelings, and to consciously transform them into thoughts focused on what I can achieve with the help of God. Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?” I began asking, “What can I do about it?” I moved from surviving, blaming, and feeling like a victim to thriving and looking for solutions. This shift changed my perspective in my job and in my personal life. As a mother, daughter, wife, sister, and friend, I became more aware of my responses rather than reacting emotionally

iv. You must be brutally honest with yourself and your point of departure.

This idea is one of the most important principles in coaching. It represents the “R” in the GROW model, which stands for Reality. After defining the “G” (Goal), you must honestly assess where you currently stand in order to identify the gap between your goal and your reality.

I once tried to build a project without doing a proper diagnosis of my starting point. I believed that having the money and giving it to experts would be enough, and that I would simply receive returns without much effort. I was wrong. I gained nothing and eventually had to put the project aside. Everything seemed to be available, but I had not clearly defined where I truly was, nor was I clear about where I wanted to go. Looking back, I understand that I did not measure the gap between my current situation and my desired outcome. This experience taught me that honesty about reality is not optional. It is the foundation of any sustainable success.

v. When you made the decision or commitment, it was probably a good idea, based on the circumstances of the moment.

I definitely refuse to continue something just because I invested money, time, or both in it. I have a principle in life: we work hard to earn money, so we deserve to invest it in things that are truly worth it. If I discover later that something is not worth continuing, I believe we must be brave enough to question that decision.
For example, with Project Management, I realized it was not the career I wanted to pursue. However, instead of abandoning it completely, I chose to benefit from it differently. I decided to continue learning it as a skill that can support my coaching business. In fact, I am currently in the last course. This way, I transformed what could have been a “wrong” decision into something useful.
There are situations where stopping completely is the right choice, even if money was invested. What matters is learning from the experience. Whether we continue or stop, the decision must come from clarity and intention, not from fear of losing what we already invested. Personally, I prefer to continue only when there is love and a burning desire behind the effort

vi. Look around you and identify people who are earning the kind of money that you want to earn.

Recently I decided to follow and study my coach, who was a lawyer herself and quit her field to become a coach. Since I am planning to quit my career as well, I decided to follow her pattern. The nice thing is that she will help me with that. Even though she is in England, which is very different from Morocco, I decided to look for the common ground between us. The first thing I am doing is shifting my mindset, which was also the first thing she did. Then I am training as a coach, and finally I plan to build a prosperous online business. This kind of pattern works very well because you are already seeing the results. You only need to take action and adapt it to your own context

vii. If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand.

I totally believe that visualization is one of the strongest tools to get what you want and also to clarify ambiguous choices and decisions. However, I struggle while doing it. I sometimes see blurred images, and other times I even fall asleep while practicing. It actually works, but it requires a huge effort. I am planning to practice it more regularly so I can develop it as a skill and tool, and also master it before suggesting it to my clients.

3. If so, how?

I think I can summarize that all these ideas are core to every aspect of my life. They help me balance my personal, family, and professional life, and they serve as principles guiding me toward my ultimate goal. This way I can contribute to a better world. I realized that I need moments of silence and calm to review my ideas and thoughts without judging or criticizing myself. I am learning in the process, and I feel that I am gaining the confidence I have always dreamed about. I also discovered that God must be the only one in my heart, and that everything I do has to be linked to His power. This awareness helps me stay focused, grounded, and aligned with my values. By reflecting in this way, I feel more clarity about the steps I take, and I am proud of the growth I am experiencing. These moments of self-reflection strengthen my ability to make conscious choices, remain responsible for my actions, and positively influence those around me.

4. Recently, I was sick, but the experience felt completely different from before. Instead of complaining or resisting it, I accepted it, took the day off, and allowed myself to rest without guilt. That simple reaction showed me how much I am shifting internally. In fact, while writing this assessment, I realized that I truly moved from surviving to thriving. I no longer see circumstances as something happening to me, but as situations I can respond to consciously. During a coaching learning session, I heard that coaches must constantly work on themselves beyond formal training. I felt proud and happy because I am already doing that work through journaling, reflection, and self-development. For me, taking responsibility does not mean controlling everything. It means choosing my attitude, my reactions, and my growth. This quote reinforces my belief that personal development is not optional, it is a continuous commitment to becoming better in every area of life.

5. Work through lunchtime and coffee breaks. Stay an hour later to get caught up and ready for the next day. These additions will double your productivity and put you onto the fast track in your career. I believe that this advice could affect the “wheel of life” for anyone who has responsibilities outside of work. For example, if I applied it to my life, I would no longer cook for my kids, help them with their homework, or pursue other personal goals. Moreover, working long hours can lead to burnout and make people more introverted. In fact, research shows that working long hours especially beyond a standard 40-hour week is linked to increased stress and higher risk of burnout, as well as negative effects on sleep and overall health (Cambridge University Study). Additionally, contexts differ from place to place, and there are people who can achieve success without pushing themselves to extreme hours or going beyond their limits.

As Emmet Fox once said, “If you must be rude, be rude to strangers, but save your company manners for your family I fully disagree with this idea. In my opinion, the saying “treat people as you wish people to treat you” is a better guiding principle than this quote. However, I’m not sure what the author’s real intention was. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

The author believes that most conflicts happen between people because of the way we learned to communicate. In fact, people hurt each other mainly because they try to solve problems for others instead of only listening or empathizing with them. Violence, in Rosenberg’s view, is not only physical but also emotional. Moreover, even when we try to be nice, our thoughts can be the opposite, and as a result, the other person often reacts to what is inside us rather than only to our words. For this reason, Rosenberg’s teachings propose that instead of blaming, judging, or criticizing, we need to empathize and listen. Indeed, judging is harmful because it can trigger intense emotions depending on the person’s emotional state, and furthermore, it can stop them from doing many things in their lives; in some cases, repeated judgment can even lead to trauma. Therefore, feelings and needs are the compass of effective communication, not to persuade the other person to do what we want, but to live in harmony and reduce conflicts. In this sense, the book suggests that by focusing on understanding others instead of projecting what we think about them, communication can change. Ultimately, the main purpose of Nonviolent Communication is to help people live in harmony and be understood instead of judged. Finally, Rosenberg invites the reader to take responsibility for their thoughts and feelings rather than blaming others.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why? List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each as to why it was important to you. Use personal examples from your own life.

i. When we are entangled in critical, blaming or angry thoughts it is difficult to establish a healthy internal environment for ourselves.

Criticism, blame, and anger are unhealthy feelings; they destroy our inner self and can spread to other people. A healthy internal environment is something that brings all the good in my life. I was first introduced to this concept when a mentor told me this ayya: و في انفسكم افلا تبصرون (“And in yourselves do you not see?”). This simple ayya has a deep meaning, directly related to Marshall Rosenberg’s teachings: the only thing we can control is our inner self; we influence the outside, but we never control it. Definitely, blame and anger always affected my mood and my decisions because they always led me down the worst path. Moreover, lack of patience is the worst enemy of good relationships because it always points a finger at the other person rather than at ourselves. Since I started controlling my reactions and doing exercises to improve my inner dialogue, many things have changed in my life, especially my relationships. The first time I learned about NVC, especially the Giraffe effect, was through Marshall’s book on raising children. I tried to apply it with my son: I first explained the Giraffe Effect to him and told him that whenever he sees someone nervous, he should try to think about the reason behind their anger instead of assuming it is about him. Then, whenever the person is calm, we can explain our feelings and how we felt when they were shouting, without judging or blaming. I was surprised that he not only applied it, but also came to me whispering whenever someone hurt me and I started nagging, saying, “Mum, apply the Giraffe Effect.” This completely shifted my thinking and made my day 100% better.

ii. Empathy

I was pleased that my attempt at empathy had kept me from honking the horn or engaging in my customary tactics of displaying displeasure toward people whose driving bothered me. Empathy, or let’s call it the Giraffe Effect, is the best solution to anger and negative feelings toward another person’s behavior before judging or blaming. I can relate to this idea because I would always honk at the first mistake of another driver, or if they did not move fast enough. However, the other day I thought that maybe the driver was slow because he was feeling some pain, or perhaps he feared going fast due to a previous accident, and this literally kept me from touching the horn as a reaction to his actions. I simply told myself, “He’s slow, that’s all,” without judging or blaming, and it worked. I realized that if I can do this in such a small situation, then I can try to apply it in even bigger problems.

iii. Ask for Information

If we do decide to ask for information in this way, however, I’ve found that people feel safer if we first reveal the feelings and needs within ourselves that are generating the question. Thus, instead of asking someone, “What did I do?” We might say, “I’m frustrated because I’d like to be clearer about what you are referring to. Would you be willing to tell me what I’ve done that leads you to see me in this way?” NVC allows us to ask difficult questions safely and even to handle challenging situations without anyone being hurt, just like the example of a lady who was about to be attacked and, by staying in empathy with the person, was able to save herself. It is important because we first express our real needs and our own feelings to show the other person something within our control, what we feel, rather than suggesting that they made us feel that way. Then, we try to understand the other person’s feelings; we may guess them correctly or not, but at least we keep exploring. When we do not blame the other person, we influence them to adopt the same calm, empathetic state. I always thought that guiding a person through a hard situation, and also praising them with kind words or gifts, was the best thing I could do. However, recently, in a harsh situation, I tried something different: I focused only on feeling empathy toward the person, listening to them, asking whether they felt anger, and waiting until they confirmed this was their feeling. It was like magic; I didn’t need to praise, hug, or do anything except listen and empathize. It was definitely a powerful and effective tool.

iv. In NVC, we consider praise and compliments a violent form of communication.

Because they are part of the language of domination, one is passing judgment on another. What makes it more complex is that people are trained to use praise as a reward, as a manipulation to get people to do what they want. Another important idea from the book is that praise and compliments, as we usually give them, can be a form of violent communication because they are judgments and can manipulate or control people. Rosenberg explains that when praise is used as a reward, it becomes part of the language of domination, separating people instead of connecting them. This idea reminds me of a concept I learned in my coaching journey called “evidence effective.” I’m not sure if it’s exactly the same, but it works similarly: you first paraphrase the coachee’s story. For example, if they tried to create an online school to reach people who can’t afford transportation and succeeded, you repeat their story back to them. Then you show how this story reflects their qualities, like turning problems into extraordinary goals. This way, you aren’t praising them out of nothing; you are using their own experience to highlight their strengths. I have used this technique four times, and it works: their faces show that this tool isn’t fake but an exceptional NVC tool.

v. NVC can help in all aspects of life.

Rosenberg shares a story about a parent–teen interaction where the father discovers his son took a car without permission. Instead of reacting with anger, he reflects on his own feelings and needs and then approaches his son with empathy, asking if the son was worried about punishment rather than accusing him. This story shows how NVC can help in all aspects of life, allowing its users to practice empathy even in extreme situations. However, Rosenberg never suggests that it is an easy path. The point is that the only communication most of us have learned is violent communication. Even in this story, the father struggles internally to apply NVC, trying to stop himself from reverting to the old, easier pattern. I can’t say that I am fully practicing NVC, but I relate to this father: sometimes I apply it with difficulty, and other times I find myself slipping into my old patterns. Still, I try to analyze these moments and learn from them so that I can gradually grasp this beautiful way of communicating.

vi. We can say ‘no’ to an action while empathizing with the need behind it.

This idea explains that we can still set boundaries while using NVC. It emphasizes that NVC is a complete method, moving from our thoughts to empathy with our interlocutor. As the saying goes, charity starts at home, so for now I am applying and testing this concept with my child. I first ask about his feelings regarding the situation for example, not being able to watch TV for long hours then I explain why this is not possible and the reasons behind it. I also make it clear that this decision has nothing to do with my love for him or my feelings toward him as my son.

vii. When people feel safe and understood, they are far more willing to contribute to our well-being.

Also this can directly help us help the person in front of us to express their needs. This leads me to my journey as a coach, whenever I end the session without any judgment or blaming or suggesting solutions it feels like the person I’m coaching could benefit from the session. Empathy isn’t just about to be nice it’s a structure to further improvement and thriving so it is the NVC.

3. If so, how?

As I mentioned before, I would use it first of all with my family. Mainly with my 6-year-old son. As a manner to communicate, but also as a teaching. By knowing his feelings, even though I guess some may be false feelings, it gives me more space to train myself in the process. Therefore, I can ask and sense his needs. Then, I can try to help him fulfill them. At the same time, I can remain empathetic, even in the worst scenarios.

In addition, I will also apply it in my coaching sessions. What is the main idea that the author is trying to convey in the book?

This book is a mixture of a religious approach but, at the same time, is intended for those who don’t follow any religion. Actually, it really depends on the reader and how they use it because it contains many metaphysical ideas. In some parts of the book, the author tried to provide some scientific evidence to support what he wanted to convince the reader about; however, this evidence seems artificial. For instance, the main idea of the author is that our intentions, which mainly stem from our thoughts, can be a driving force in creating the life we desire, and it really depends on how we use this power to shape our lives.

2. What were the seven ideas which were personally most important to you and why?List these seven ideas followed by an explanation after each one, using personal examples from your own life.

i. In simpler words, “All things whatsoever ye pray and ask for, believe that ye have received them, and ye shall receive them.” (Mark 11:24).

Though this idea is not the author’s own idea, I decided to choose it because it summarizes the whole book. It also confirms that being attached or close to God is something powerful because He who created you is the only one who can support you in anything, even things that seem like miracles. Moreover, He gives you things without expecting anything in return. Recently, I decided to be closer to God because He’s the only one who can give you anything and everything without any benefit, and even though you commit sins, He still gives you what you ask for once you are honest about it.

This idea that you believe you have already received something is really a great one because once you have the confidence that you already have that thing and behave as if you have it, it creates the right atmosphere to receive it. I remember when I started thinking about coaching as my new reality, I started acting like a coach from the very beginning, even without being registered at The Coaching Academy. I also offered coaching to my relatives, and I even reached the point of coaching a group of people who were planning to go to Spain. I did that in Spanish; I had no clue how to do it, but I did it, and I know that God’s force was behind this, because if it had been about my skills, my confidence, or anything related to coaching, I wouldn’t have even thought of coaching that way confidently.

ii. When you’re unkind, you’re blocking the face of kindness. You’re moving away from the power of intention.

I always believe that if we were perfect, we would be angels in the sky. So being unkind can sometimes be a part of my life with kids, my husband, family, or friends. However, since I have begun my improvement journey, I feel that something is abnormal, and it can be explained by this idea of moving away from the power of intention, even in my inner thoughts. I really feel that something is wrong. Although the other person may say something hurtful or unnecessary, I still tell myself: do I have to mirror them, or should I look for the nicer response this feeling is guiding me toward? Sometimes, I also tell myself that maybe this behavior, event, or experience is telling me something deeper than it seems, and I need to learn a lesson from it or discover something new perhaps an aspect I’ve been looking for a long time.
iii. “Your imagination allows you the fabulous luxury of thinking from the end.”

Let me explain this idea from a coach’s mindset. The smart idea behind starting with the end in mind instead of starting from reality is that if we focus on the problem or the issue, we will still search for solutions, means, and tools. However, if we already see our new reality as having achieved our goal, we will draw from it all the things we need to do to achieve that new reality, and we will be inspired by that future self, as I love to call it. Then, using imagination will already show us what it looks like, so we will know how to feel the gaps between our present self and our future self. Then, everything we need becomes a question of learning and research.

For instance, I recently used this approach, which I love, to coach a client through imagination, especially by asking her to imagine herself as having already achieved her goal. Her goal was to make a decision between two choices. This exercise not only helped her decide which option to choose but also shaped how her life would be three years after the session. She imagined everything, and at the end of the exercise, her face showed everything she had experienced, which proves that seeing things from the end is the best way to start achieving our goals.

iv. Treat yourself with kindness when you eat, exercise, play, work, love, and everything else.

Kindness is paramount. I remember taking the decision to be kind to myself, even though I sometimes don’t respect my diet (without gluten, sugar, and lactose) and still eat these foods occasionally without restrictions. This worked, and now I’m no longer attracted to them. I don’t feel the same desire as I did when I used to blame myself.

When you eat them and then become attached to them, you go back to old patterns, and you know that if you return to a habit, it can become worse and you may lose discipline. I stopped being harsh to myself, and instead I tried to cut this spiral of thoughts that catastrophize things before they even happen. It really worked from within, not from the outside.

v. You can’t always control what happens to you, but you can control how you respond.

This idea resonates with me, especially after attending a coaching skills session called Coaching the Inner Self. The presenter described a healthy ego. Indeed, Wayne Dyer didn’t explicitly state it in this idea, but if we reflect on it, when something happens outside of our control, we can either choose a healthy response or one that disintegrates us from what God created us for. So here is the real control we can manage 100% if we decide to.

vi. When you feel connected and in harmony with intention, you sense a major difference in how other people react to you.

I believe that we can only change ourselves, and we can influence others. Imagine all the great leaders in history; they never tried to change others by force. If they had done so, they would not be leaders but dictators. All great leaders inspire change by first changing themselves. Even though they passed away long ago, they are still remembered as leaders. As for me, I am still working on myself first to change my inner dialogue and to control only myself in order to raise my awareness and use a healthy ego to change myself first.

vii. True nobility isn’t about being better than someone else. It’s about being better than you need to be.

This leads me to the previous quote. The thing is that we are on this earth not to compete but to complete. Every human being is unique and can achieve many things, while others can also do the same. We do not need to belittle others to be great; we only need to focus on ourselves. Since I started telling myself, “Nadia, focus on what is in your control,” everything feels enough in this world because everything has been created with precise balance and wisdom.

3. How will these ideas or lessons help you in a practical way, both in your daily personal life and in helping you create a better world? If so, how?

As I stated in the sixth quote I would implement these ideas to first change As I stated in the sixth quote, I will implement these ideas to first change my inner dialogue and focus only on what I can control. This will help me raise my awareness and use a healthy ego to become a more effective and conscious coach. It will also allow me to participate in the transformational journey of my clients and apply the same approach in my personal life so I can positively influence my environment.

I used this book as part of my learning journey in The Coaching Academy, where I used it as a tool to learn how to stay focused on the client’s agenda instead of trying to decide for them or suggest solutions, even internally while they share their experience.

4. If so, please quote them and comment as to why they were important to you.

None other then what I shared in Question 2!

5. Is there anything in the book that you do not understand or are unclear about, or any ideas you disagree with? Why?

In Chapter One, Wayne Dyer borrowed some scientific ideas to support what he wanted to say, especially when he mentioned Lynne McTaggart and her book The Field. I think he did this to gain credibility without spending too much time explaining his ideas. The issue is not whether he uses scientific evidence or not, because I have read many books without scientific proof and still applied their ideas in my life. What disturbed me was the use of incomplete science, which made me question whether to continue reading the book. After doing some research, I found that Lynne McTaggart is a journalist and author who writes about connections between consciousness and quantum physics. However, many of her interpretations are considered controversial and are not widely accepted by mainstream scientists.

6. Did the book contain exercises for the reader to complete? If so, did you complete all of the exercises and did you find them helpful?

I applied the exercises from the first chapter but aligned them with my religion, mainly because what the author calls “universal power” or “divine power” is, for me, 100% Allah, who created this universe. After reading the whole book, I found that the exercises are easy to implement in our lives, especially since at the end of each chapter Wayne Dyer provides simple points to follow, which makes them easier to remember. However, I still need to reread them to fully integrate them into my life and benefit from them more deeply.

7.
