The IIGL Mentorship Program
What Is A Mentor?
The dictionary defines a mentor as a wise and trusted guide, counselor or teacher.
Purpose
The purpose of the IIGL mentorship program is fourfold. First, it provides students with a more experienced individual to rely on for guidance, advice or to discuss particular
ideas or concepts encountered in the IIGL studies. Secondly, it offers the mentor with an opportunity to share her or his own life experience and knowledge. Thirdly, it is an
excellent opportunity for cultural exchange, enlarging the worlds of both the mentor and student. And last of all, it provides the foundation for the possibility of an ongoing
friendship.
Qualifications
Any contributor to the IIGL program may also volunteer to serve as a mentor. Mentors are expected to be familiar with the basic concepts offered for Level One & Two studies
and to be in harmony with the basic ideas, principles and philosophy of IIGL.
Each student who has completed Level One studies will be qualified to have a mentor if he or she wishes. But this is not a requirement.
The Mentor's Role
Mentors provide an ongoing partnership designed to help students with advice and
guidance in their studies, personal and professional lives. The intent of the
mentor is to assist students to be the best they can be and to enhance the
quality of their lives.
Mentors are available to listen, to observe and to help students identify their
goals in life and to develop solutions and strategies for meeting those goals.
The mentor's role is to provide support, guidance, and to help their student
enhance his/her innate skills, resources, and creativity. In essence, the mentor
acts as a catalyst, to allow the student to truly see themselves and their
choices more clearly.
Mentors are advisors; their main objective is to help the student address
questions and concerns through reflection and dialogue.
Mentorship traditionally has implied an uneven relationship of power between two
individuals. From our perspective, however, mentorship is a mutual exchange of
information, ideas & experiences It is not a hierarchical relationship, but a
learning process for both parties.
There is no right way of mentoring. Key to the success of the mentoring
relationship is to remember that each relationship will be different, and we all
learn in different ways. The process should allow for open and honest exchange
that accommodates difference and diversity; hence, the importance of feedback
throughout the process.
The success of the mentoring relationship is not about being matched with
someone who thinks the way you do. The success is when the mentor and student
can understand and tune in to the pertinent issues. Mentors should not try to
impose their views, but suggest alternative views or ask questions to allow the
student to find their own way.
Although your exchange initially may be about the IIGL studies, personal issues
may enter into the dialogue as time goes on. In such cases it is particularly
important to maintain confidentiality and understand a students challenge within
their cultural context.
The mentorship program is not about mentors providing financial or material
assistance to students. In such cases their role is to guide a student to a
deeper understanding of the IIGL teachings regarding the process of
manifestation. The cornerstone philosophy of the IIGL program is based on the
idea that "if you give a man a fish, he eats for a day. If you teach him to
fish, you feed him for a lifetime."
Guidelines
-
Be as clear as possible with your self and your student or mentor as to what you want out of this relationship and how you think it could be achieved,
including any goals and expectations.
-
Both mentor and student should agree on the frequency of on-line communication that is comfortable for both parties, considering their time,
circumstance and computer accessibility.
-
A mentor may work with more than one student at a time. It is recommended, however, that a mentor start with one and add others as time and
circumstances permit.
-
Either party has the right to withdraw from the mentoring relationship if, after genuinely trying, the situation is not satisfactory.
-
These guidelines are just that, guidelines. They can be used at the beginning of the relationship to establish a connection, but it is up to you to
develop a process that works for your situation.
Procedures
Once a student has completed Level One studies, he or she may request mentorship. At that point the program director will make a recommendation to one or more available
mentors, based on the mentors interest, those of the student, and the student's performance. The decision to accept a mentor role with a particular student, will be up to the
potential mentor. Once this is decided, the program director will make a formal introduction and then it is up to the mentor and student to develop the mentoring relationship.

Helen Baker, BSN, MA, Ph.D., LMHC

My early adult years were in nursing. First with a diploma degree from St. Catherine's College in St. Paul, MN and then with a bachelors in Nursing from the University of
Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. I worked in the fields of Critical Care, Emergency Room and Trauma/Crises.
In 1981 I received a Masters in Counseling Education from the University of South Florida and set up Cape Counseling Services of SW/FL, Inc. where I have been the director for
the past 24 years. I worked with persons going through various losses in their life cycle.
In 1984 I received my Ph.D. in Loss and Change specific to Death and Grief and continue to work in the capacity of Mental Health Counselor in Florida from Nov to April and as
a nurse in a psychiatric hospital in South Carolina from April to November.
At present I am semi retired and have been working to create a refuge for persons going through various life transitions. I see myself working as a bridge between those
individuals locked in the cycle of attachment to material things and the concept of "power over" and those who have an awareness that peace on this planet is attainable.
I believe that the International Institute for Global Leadership is a very powerful instrument in this quest and I would like to be a part of it in any way possible.

I was born to be a peacemaker. Most of my childhood was spent in rural Alabama- the southern part of the United States of America. This was during the turbulent birth of civil
rights activities. In a strongly codependent community, I learned the strength of personal integrity and dedicated work ethics. Now I am astutely aware of our ignorance of and
isolation from the global arena. I see our sheer unawareness of how our actions affected the bigger picture. We seemed to be mostly spiritually asleep and focused on physical
survival with weekly attention to fundamentalist religious dogma.
Many years and several careers later, I presently serve as a Minister of Peace with The Beloved Community. It is my honor to coordinate national Spiritual Peacemaking Sacred
Circles.
This ministry offers opportunities to serve joyfully in a ministry of the moment. Not only is this fun, it includes a wide variety of experiences such as LuvBucket, the
clown and a puppet reading ministry with area low income children.
For my own spiritual nourishment, I enjoy spiritual pilgrimages. The most recent and treasured one was experiencing the rituals of another faith and culture from my own base
practice of using The Sacred Office of Peace Prayers. It brought awareness to a lifetime of ignorance about other spiritual cultures and allowed healing and release of
unfounded prejudices. Now, I personally understand that world peace begins in the individual heart and ripples outward. It is my intention to become loving peace and to live
every moment from a peaceful heart.
One way to live peace is to assist and encourage others to connect to Divine Essence and to allow an authentic expression of that to emerge as a powerful force in the world.
Part of this process is, I believe, empowering the energies of the divine feminine in both men and women. Then, we will feed all the hungry peoples of the world, encourage
self responsibility, and live in harmony with each other and this precious planet.

In 2000 I opened a place called "Time-Out" in Cairo, to offer a window of different activities, philosophies and tools to help people find themselves and find peace of mind.
Activities included Tai Chi, Yoga, Positive Thinking, Meditation, Reiki, Art Expression, workshops and talks on different topics and techniques, including music and books.
When possible, local authors and artists were invited to share their experiences. It has been an absolutely rewarding experience. I was pleasantly surprised that "Time-Out"
attracted mainly young, Egyptian adults ranging from early 20's to mid 30's. They are the ones looking for answers. I realize there is so much that needs to be done to bring
us all back in unison again. There are so many things around us and we need to come together back to ONE.
In 2002 I was certified as a Dale Carnegie Facilitator and I am presently working more and more with the Franchise office in Egypt. Presently, I am the Training Director
for Dale Carnegie Egypt, as well as a partner in the company. I deliver Dale Carnegie programs to top and middle management, new entrants and university graduates. Recently,
we also delivered programs to a number of government workers, which was fascinating. All programs fofocus on emphasizing the human aspect of management, changing human
behavior and stress actual application of principles. The results are quite rewarding, since the Dale Carnegie approach focuses on the intentional life and taking charge of
ones life, as well, as respecting and honoring people around us. So at least, I feel that I have been given the opportunity to apply what was being offered spiritually through
Time-Out on a much wider scale, with more basic principles to the masses. With IIGL, the opportunity widens even further to reach more people all over the world. Since I
consider myself a citizen of the Universe, I guess that this is the next logical step.
I am a mother of two beautiful children, daughter 20 and son 16, treasures from God. I am blessed and thankful every day for the lessons and messages I receive from God,
who is always with me. My whole existence, besides living my role in life, is to help in any way possible to shift people's mindsets to a positive, proactive one. We have
choices and we create our realities. Some of my earlier readings that left an impact on me include: Conversations with God by Neale Walsch, Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline
Myss, You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, Seat of the soul by Gary Zukav and The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. There are many other books that I read, but these authors
left a strong imprint on me and helped me in clarifying a lot of issues around me and in the universe. I have traveled to several countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and North
America, and hope to continue visiting new countries.

I have been a truth finder for most of my life. I resonate with the oneness of all mankind and the total galactic adventure. I share this truth/love with those I connect
with as often as it shows up. I have assisted many people (including kids) to believe in themselves and know everything is possible if you believe in it. My joy and passion
for over 30 years is assisting people with their healing at all levels; mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. I love passing on great books, videos and so on to others,
that they too may be blessed. I share the beliefs that this institute supports through this wonderful program.

I am a student of the world who is continually learning and growing. To be able to share with others in many ways, is a means of continuing this growth. I would like to
keep learning from others and share whatever I may have learned. I have had the opportunity to learn, first hand, about many countries i.e. China, Russia, Thailand, India,
Tibet, Mongolia, eastern Europe, central Asia, etc. Some personal interests include art, sculpture, literature, history, ballet, opera, live theater, GOOD CONVERSATION, and
most importantly, the value and joy of good friends.

I have been involved in peace and justice issues for as long as I can remember and I am honored to be a part of this project that is so very important in this time and this
place in our history. It is the only thing that makes sense in these chaotic times.
I am the operator of a Healing Center where we have peace meditations as well as healings for it is all the same--bringing ourselves and our planet to wholeness. To learn

From the age of 4, I remember having an "imaginary" classroom in front of me! I played "school" throughout my childhood and have been attracted to educational efforts as long
as I can remember. Throughout my youth, I felt uncomfortable with the formalness of the traditional classroom. This feeling led me to study and earn a Master's Degree in adult
education and curriculum design. Along with my interest in education, came a desire to "make a difference" in the World especially for others who had less resources; and/or
who were ill. During high school and college I worked at an inner city osteopathic hospital in the X-ray department and emergency room. This is where I had my first lessons
about compassion and the importance of treating other people with the utmost respect and kindness. One of my greatest joys from this experience was to connect with others from
different cultural backgrounds and to participate in their spiritual healing.
One of the reasons, I support the International Institute for Global Leadership is because I have been blessed by having a wonderful support system of friends, mentors, and
resources throughout my life. In return, my intention is to help others with their educational and spiritual journeys. As an adult educator, I have taught different topics
such as Leadership Development, Team Building, Conflict ResolResolution and Cultural Diversity both in corporate and academic environments. My greatest joy comes from seeing
the "aha's" when people from different work environments, cultures, and ages can share and appreciate their similarities as well as differences. One of my intentions during my
classes is to include information on personal leadership and wellness. I have encouraged many students to create what they want in their lives, whether that is a career,
relationship, travel experience, or a new home in a new location...that it's all possible...all it takes is to believe it's possible and to listen to one's inner guidance!
Through my experience, I've observed that creativity, trust and listening are key elements of Leadership. I am also certified as a Life Purpose Coach...a facilitator who
coaches others on life purpose and choices. I believe all of us have a soul purpose as well as a collective purpose. I often help others obtain a better understanding of these
concepts.
I have been fortunate to see first hand how resources are raised, allocated and implemented for humanitarian cause. I have traveled to the former Soviet Union and Europe to
deliver food packages to the recipients in their homes and view community facilities such as nursing homes, community centers, and daycare centers. My vision is to expand
"gifting to others" by having resources available to the ALL instead of just a few! The International Institute for Global Leadership allows me to apply this vision. I see us
as one Global family. It's very inspiring to see the Institute continuously expand and grow. I feel that by educating others about consciousness, great shifts are created. I
have many personal interests such as Traveling and Networking with people around the World, Astrology, Numerology, Handwriting Analysis, Creative Writing, Painting, Oriental
Medicine, Yoga, Spiritual Wellness and Dream Interpretation.
I am blessed with 2 beautiful and gifted children, Zachary and Mollie. They teach and guide me to new levels of learning every day. We together hold the vision for a world
of Peace and for wellness instead of dis-ease.

One of my strong passions is intercultural relations: helping people from different places understand each other and find their connections. I am doing that now as a
college teacher of Global Awareness. I hope to do that soon in an organization that supports women around the world to improve their lives. Besides being a teacher, I'm also a
grant-writer and project/event organizer, artist and Light-worker.

Elisabeth Tepper
Caracas, Venezuela
I've learned that Happiness, Peace and Freedom to express myself are my goals and those of all human beings, but we are usually unaware of this. I was born in Bornholm,
Denmark and live in Caracas, Venezuela. Two continents apart, but a lot of love in common. Venezuela is home, here I got married and divorced, I gave birth and raised two
wonderful men. I've loved and cried my heart out in this beautiful country. However, I know I am truly a World citizen, even if different country policies don't agree with
me!! Holding a Venezuelan passport is a challenge!
I believe change comes from within, we can only create changes around us when we are willing to do so in our personal lives. Then, can we influence our families, then our
friends and those closest to us, and then the community as a whole. If we can provoke this consciousness in one person, only one, we will have been able to start a change.
This one person is 'I.' We can only ask for what we are willing to give. Am I peaceful enough to ask for peace? Am I fair enough to ask for fairness and justice? This is where
my present work aims at; awareness of the responsibility we have on every choice we make for our lives and those around us. I This is where I believe IIGL has a major
influence, if I can contribute to take the world out there, if enough of us can remember we own the kind of heart-centered leadership we are aching for, we will make a change.
It's the small stuff that make the difference, greeting those around us, giving a helping hand whenever we can, asking for help when we need it, understanding we have social
and political rights, as well as personal, accepting our responsibility for all of it. We can make a difference in remembering that WE are to ones we are waiting to make a
difference!!!
