Please describe your vision of a world that works for everyone.

The greatest problem of the world is the problem of leadership; if we have passionate leaders; people that have the interest of their followers at heart, then the world will know peace. For the world to work for all and sundry, our leaders should employ developmental strategies. For example, if you are a good leader- passionate about humanity, then there is the possibility of having great followers also.

We have the responsibility of leadership. This is the truest way to influence, and inspire others. Every leader influence others by what they do, say or how they work. Try your best to leave footprints that point to excellence; excellence is not an act, but a habit says Aristotle, the great Greek thinker cum philosopher.

Every leader should learn how to think positively for the good of his followers. The world wants leaders that will end or possibly reduce the rate of unemployment, poverty, wars / terrorism raging the world in a consistent consistency.

What do you see as the most pressing problems facing the world today?

A crucial look at the 21st century will reveal to you that the most pressing problem facing the world right away is failure on the part of the leaders. The world is currently in dire need of patriotic leaders and statesmen who would use their wealth of experience and wisdom to give us a clear sense of direction.

Though, we have some focused leaders especially in the developed countries of the world, such as Europe, US, UK, Canada etc, we still need dedicated leaders across the continents of Asia, Africa and the third world countries who are still chained down in grinding poverty, turbulent ocean of squalor and penury, sicknesses and infirmities. If we have better leaders, then unemployment, terrorism, kidnapping, wars etc will end within the shortest period of time.

How do you feel these problems could best be solved?

Very simple- by having quality leaders! We have the potential to make the world great. I am working to be part of this; this is why I wish to enroll for this leadership program. Sincerely, Global leaders must create an atmosphere of transparency, trust, accountability and honesty in the spirit of God, if not the world will not grow.We need to harness our limitless potentials around us. Leaders must learn and start taking quality decisions on how best to move the world forward. We will never progress if we fail to address the challenges of leadership!

Profile

My name is Ethelbert Obinna Umeh, born in the year of the Lord 1984. I am a native of Osina, Ideato North Local Government of Imo State. I am the first in a family of two, a boy and a girl. Right from infancy, my parents especially, mum taught me to value people and appreciate them irrespective of color, size, shape, race- my encounter with her has changed my life in an unimaginable way.

I love meeting people and making new friends. While in primary school, I was made the class prefect several times because of my dedication to academic duties. I graduated in 1997 from Central School Owerre-Akokwa, Nigeria, and was awarded the best of the year.

The same year, I proceeded to Bonus Pastor Seminary for my Junior Secondary School, and St. Mary’s Seminary Umuowa, Orlu for my senior secondary school, and successfully graduated in 2003 with enviable academic records. While in Umuowa seminary, I participated actively in French clubs, debating and dramatic society and won amazing prices. This was the time my interest in public speaking and literary excellence deepened. Some of my articles were published in Forum Newspapers, Orlu, and The Good Shepherd Magazine during those days.

I have a B.A. degree in Philosophy from Pontifical Urban University, Rome and another degree in Mass Communication from Richmond Open University, Nigeria, and successfully graduated in 2009 with good grades respectively.

This implies that I was studying the two disciplines simultaneously. Between 2005- 2009, I soaked myself within the ambience of academic excellence and read over 7000 books- 99% of these were books at the library shelves of Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu, Nigeria, where I also worked within these years of my undergraduate studies.

In 2008, I was elected the Secretary General of Duns Scotus School of Journalism, and became the Pioneer Editor of ‘The Hallmark Point Magazine’ in 2009. I was actively involved in the Youth Leadership of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish Ngwo, Enugu who were the publishers of the said Magazine.

I had a brief teaching experience at Maranatha Nursery and Primary School, Ngwo and St. Monica’s Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Enugu before relocating to Owerri, Imo State.

Currently, I am a French teacher at Calvary International Secondary School, Owerri Imo State, Nigeria, and the editorial adviser to the School’s magazine’ The Young Genius Magazine’. I am pursuing a postgraduate in Journalism from International Institute of Journalism, Owerri, Imo State.

To the Glory of God, I have an extensive professional writing experience. My freelance works published online and elsewhere, spans politics, making money online, economy, healthcare, environment, relationships, arts, travel, food, wine, religion, and family issues. But that's not all. I also edited manuscripts, and press releases, ghostwrote books, and authored my own (How to Find, Attract and Keep Your Beloved). I am extremely proficient in reading and writing English. I have also a smattering knowledge of French and Latin.
