A world that works for everyone should be a place <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">where leaders at every level are dedicated in providing necessary <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">means, tools and resources needed by the general population for<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">survival.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What do you see as the most pressing problems facing the world today?<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The most pressing problems facing the world today are in their <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">numbers. It ranges from poverty to political crises, racism, war, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">religious conflict, wage-gap issues and so on. Uneven distribution of wealth around the world has led to increasing poverty. It was discovered that more than 70 percent of the people in the world own less than roughly 3 percent of total wealth in the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">world.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Political conflict which has tremendously increased over the past\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">few years could be seen as a result of selfish political ambitions and <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">other personal ambition which has clouded the political space. Unfit <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">politicians want to hold political seats at all cost, even if it will <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">cost the lives and livelihood of citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Terrorism as well as the rise of religiously-motivated insurgent <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">groups are also among the world&#8217;s most pressing issues affecting most <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">developing countries. Terrorism has been categorized as a violent or <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">threatened violent action, such actions are carried out for political, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">economic, religious, or social purposes. For example, the terrorist <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has clearly <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">stated its political goal to establish itself as a caliphate.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Other problems include: Wage gap issues, income inequality and lack <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">of education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">How do you feel these problems could best be solved?<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">These problems can be solved by creating an enabling environment <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">for growth and development in all aspects of life; be it in the <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">political, Legal, social, economic, technological, education, health <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">as well as physical environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I believe the wide gap in wealth can be bridged by encouraging<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">entrepreneurs via the provision of access to capital or funding of the<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">businesses with relatively little or no interest rate. Also bureaucratic red tapes which make it difficult for persons or groups of people to enter into certain industries should be reduced; such difficulties come in different forms like huge business registration <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">fees, high taxes from different government parastatals, policies that <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">trigger inflation and so on. Governments can welcome Innovations from <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">small and medium businesses by partnering with national and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">international networks which can facilitate entrepreneurial<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">engagements in a global economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Furthermore, the Government must be encouraged to invest in <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">education and training either formal or informal for its citizens <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">because there is a positive correlation between education and national <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">security. Encouraging free basic education for children at all costs <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">will go a long way in promoting tolerance, peace, unity and order <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">which will promote national security either now or in the nearest<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">future because the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Profile<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">I am Toyosi Olamakinde a graduate of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria; from the department of political science <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">with a BSc in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. I am a knowledge <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">seeker, I believe in personal growth and development, I am given to <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">learning, I yearn to know more about things related to me, my passion, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">my environment and my goals in life. These have contributed to reasons <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">of having interest in IIGL.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Growing up, I had always wanted to be an entrepreneur, self-employed <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and also have a medium for helping the vulnerable, especially children <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and women. Since \u201cRome was not built in a day\u201d I chose to invest more <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">in gaining experiences and knowledge, This I did via internships, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">jobs, skill acquisition such as fashion designing, digital skills, <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">sales and marketing skills, attending seminars and even getting a <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">higher degree in Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">National Open University of Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">My passion and love for the vulnerable in the community, especially <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">children, made me get a teaching job for three years, these were three <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">years of not just teaching or impacting knowledge, they were years of <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">learning about the acts and arts of children, why they behave the way <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">they do and how to handle them. I could understand different family&#8217;s <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">orientations on childcare because I believe a child is a<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">representative of his or her family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In my quest to gain more knowledge and experience in child&#8217;s related <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">affairs like child protection policy, I volunteered in an <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">International Non-governmental organization (Save the Children <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">International, SCI) as a field assistant where I got the opportunity <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">to interact with parents and children who have been displaced from<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">their homes due to one form of crisis or the other. I assisted in <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">providing relief materials, food and non food items and providing a <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">source of livelihood for families. These experiences have further <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">broadened my exposure to real life situations and challenges in many <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">of our local communities and how to solve them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">My favorite book so far is \u201cBecoming a better you\u201d by Joel Osteen.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">My Favorite movies are: What happened to Monday. My name is Khan.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Brotherhood<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Being an enthusiast for improving family lives and community life as<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">a whole, I believe the wellbeing of a family will directly or <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Indirectly impact the lives of children either positively or <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">negatively; because of this, I have been involved in several projects <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">but one remarkable project I participated in was helping interested<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">individuals in forming a \u201cVillage Savings and Loan Association \u2013 VSLA.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">This project recorded an all-round success from the planning stage to<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">the final stage. Participants in every VSLA group were encouraged to<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">save on a weekly basis from their sources of livelihoods, and <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">opportunities to take loans from their group savings to promote their <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">businesses was encouraged.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I monitored their meetings on every meeting day, gave advice or <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">useful information and also took down complaints and challenges with a <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">view to proffering solutions to them. My leadership experience varied from formal, semi-formal and informal settings. Most of which were\/are in religious circles.
